On-Screen Tutorial Text:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The following animations are stereoscopic image pairs.
(Each rendered from a slightly different perspective to enable a 3D impression.)
You can watch them in 3D without the help of any device.
Try to combine the two dots at the bottom by de-focusing your eyes.
The rest of the world will become blurry, but the center crystal clear 3D.
To de-focus your eyes there are two methods:
1. Cross-eye method
Look "in front" of the screen. You can use the tip of a pen to find the focus point.
This is the method you have to use for this video! The other one will also result in 3D, but with inverted depth perception. (Near objects will look far and far objects near. This looks weird. Which method to use depends on how the two images are arranged. A Parallel Method version of this movie might follow.)
2. Parallel method Look “trough” the screen.
(Not for this movie)
Pro-Tips:
- If you struggle merging the dots because they are too far apart,
move your head away from the screen.
- Hold your head straight. A tilted head makes it more difficult.
- When your eyes lock in, this can be spooky, but it is nothing else
than they do all the time. It should come as a relaxed experience.
Don´t strain your eye muscles by overdoing.
- If everything fails, the tip at the end might help.
Ready?
3… 2… 1…
There is another method to watch these animations in 3D!
The Pulfrich Effect (also works on normal movies!)
If objects move in a certain direction in movies, just cover one eye with sunglasses.
The idea is that less light gets into that eye.
(Some people even achieve this by squinting one eye).
1. Things move right (Camera moves left) or Things turn counter-clockwise
Cover right eye
This is the method you have to use for this video! The other one will also result in 3D, but with inverted depth perception. Near objects will look far and far objects near. This looks weird. Which method to use depends on the movement in the frame.
2. Things move left (Camera moves right) or Things turn clockwise
Cover left eye (not in this video)

Couldnt see it at first but that pen trick worked at some point. you gotta hold a thin object so it covers the center of both images, then focus on that object thats closer to you and at a certain point your vision snaps to the combined image and you can take it away. It's cool how it appears to be smaller because it's the same size but your eyes perceive it to be closer so therefore smaller

You can stop headaches by holding your hands up and covering your field of vision for both the right and left sides. Leave just the middle and you’ll actually feel very normal. If you want to get berry technical with it you can cut out a rectangle (or square) that fits the aspect ratio of the middle part you’ll be looking at, or in other words exactly half of the video screen size your looking at.

You should just take care not to force your eyes or strain your eye muscles. At the beginning people tend to do so, but it should be effortless. It is more a mind thing about persuading your eyes not to try to leave that position. So you don´t have to force them. It is about relaxing. I do this for a long time, and it has become natural for me. Also switching between the techniques. Take care not to be too close to the screen, otherwise the angle is too steep. Like looking at your nose the whole time. That can be exhausting for the eyes. Move away from the screen until it gets easier.

you don't have to cross your eyes!! cover your eyes with your hands so that your right hand covers the right half of the screen, and the left hand is covering te left half of the screen. Then your right eye sees automatically the left picture and your left eye sees the right picture! This is easy and you do not get an headache!

  • @morn1415

    @morn1415

    3 жыл бұрын

If you would do what you described without refocusing to the distance of your hands (which means crossing your eyes more, they are always crossed) you wouldn´t see the screen obviously. By putting your hands in front of your face you automatically refocus to the plane of your hands. That´s an uncommon approach, but if you get the right distance, it will work. Some people do that with looking at the tip of a pen. Main idea is a focus point between your face and the screen.

  • @Oleksiy777
    @Oleksiy7774 жыл бұрын

All great. But I think the guiding pic in the video for the parallel method should be updated. When you look though the screen, you never have your eyes focus at a dot beyond the screen. Your eyes eyesight should remain parallel. You expect your eyes to focus at some plane beyond the screen (left & right sides of the plane simultaneously), not at the dot beyond the screen. In fact, eyes stay parallel and, therefore, technically speaking - UNfocused.

Why do you need to lock into the two dots just one of the screens looks 3D or both screens look3d but you only need the one you don't need the two screens identical. It looks 3D anyway without the dots and two screens

They are not identical. They have been created in a way to provide depth perception if combined. The images that both of your eyes create when looking at anything in your environment are also not the same, because they are at a slightly different position. Exactly this information is used by your brain to evaluate depth. If you look at your thumb with one eye or two should be a totally different feeling of space.

If you have normal stereoscopic vision to begin with, it should be possible. Try the Pulfrich Method explained at the end. Requires less effort.

You also tried the Pulfrich effect explained at the end of the video? That should be hassle free, as it only requires regular looking.

Parallel "defocusing" is easier imo. Sadly it does look weird :l
