Love my Ruger guide in 375 R, use it for everything except high mountain hunts. I hand load those 250g GMXs to almost 2800 out of my 20” barrel.So far I’ve had complete pass through on every animal taken including 2 large bull moose. Less meat damage that the 270 grain SPRP bullets.

I got the 24" Howa 375 ruger. Fitted open sights & a brake. I learnt a lesson about accuracy & the houge stock off a bench. It's a fine hunting stock , but can be terrible off the bench or bipod . It flexes & was muzzle flipping hard & coming back real fast. Off hand it's like a 12g single shot sort of recoil wise. Not bad at all , accuracy was spot on off hand. It's now in a mdt chassis with AI steel 300wm magazines. Genuine 5 shot & tiny tweaking of the guides & it feeds smooth as silk. Looking at getting some 250gr mono bullets to try for point shooting. & 270gr hot cores for longer range work . Cheers . What a beast of a rifle & cartridge for the money.

Ask about the mutilated body of the native trapper they found, nearly every bone in the body was broken as if it was smashed repeatedly with giant fists and how ripped apart the skin was, the body was not fed upon or had wounds consistent with a brown bear mauling. I ended up with a 375 Ruger by mistake last year,I order all my firearms from BUDS GUNS ONLINE they are always$100 to $200 cheaper for new gun's, but anyways I ordered a Mossberg patriot 7 mm rem mag,I received a patriot 375 Ruger,my FFL and I called buds a hour later they said send it back and wait 30 days for the correct rifle,I said il keep this one $389 gun and transfer,it has iron sights and came with bases,I mounted a vortex red dot, keep in mind I live in Florida my land borders the Ocala national forest,the deer here average size of a mature buck is 100 to 150 lbs,the wild hogs range from 50 to 350 lbs,so the Ruger 375 is like using a cannon,but the brush is very thick and limits most hunting shots to under a hundred yards,I killed 3 deer and 17 hogs last year along with 9 coyotes, after the first deer I shot behind the shoulder I learned to make neck shots which will cut the head completely off, shoulder shots will leave a frisbee size exit wound,but when hunting wild hogs I feel completely safe,the recoil I compare to a 20 ga shotgun,the coyotes get completely destroyed, great video thanks for sharing

Used a 130gr HORNADY factory round GMX in my .270. Took a moose in Alaska, with one shot quartering to me from right to left at apx 70 yds. Hit left front brisket angled towards right rear hindquarters. Blew the heart off the arteries, it was severed loosely in front cavity. Moose instantly staggered two steps backwards and disappeared. He literally dropped almost in his exact tracks. That sold me on the GMX. I felt a tad under gunned during the hunt, after that, I gained a lot more respect for the venerable.270. I can only imagine what kind of performance the .375 Ruger will deliver. But I know anything dangerous in Alaska is fair game for it. It and the .338 lapua are what my lifelong friend from Alaska carries with him in the wilderness. Along with his .357 Colt Anaconda. Post your next harvest with the Howa in .375 Ruger using the GMX. It will be a great performer I’m certain.

@AlaskanBallistics
3 жыл бұрын
At least 200 fps 400 is a stretch but hey come shoot it with me sometime
I just got back from my successful moose hunt using this ammo. I hunted the Fort Liard area of the Northwest Territories, Canada. I used a Ruger Alaskan 77 with a Leupold VXIII 2.5 - 8 × 36 scope. I was driving to the Blackstone River to put my canoe in the water and hit the marsh 2 miles down that I spent the day calling moose in the day before. As I rounded a turn 2 minutes from the river, I saw a nice 12pt bull on the side of the road about 600 meters away. I continued to drive but at about 400 meters away, the moose started trotting towards the trees. I jumped out, took a shot while resting the gun on the door. It hit the rear of the rib area and the moose fell. It jumped up but before it could make it the remaining 6-7 feet into HEAVY TREE COVER, I sent the second shot into its neck, breaking his spine clean, and he dropped like a stone. the bull was decent sized at 800lbs "on the hoof" and the GMX did its job amazingly. I practice A LOT at 50-400 yards because our range is lonely and has good distances for practice. I do not advocate long shots on any game unless you PRACTICE A LOT. The ammo is very accurate in my gun. My last two 3-shot groups before I left for the hunt measured 0.47 and 0.49" @ 100 yards using a lead sled (just as a holder, I dont bother putting lead in the sled)

Ive got one of these in a lefty Ruger Alaskan as well as the lefty Ruger 338RCM and a lefty Winchester stainless M70 338 win mag. From your 338 win mag video it appears the 338 win pushes the Nosler Partition 250gr to the same performancce level. Seems theres no real difference in velocity b3tween the two and the 338 win is a smaller case but you were usjng a longer barrel with it. Interesting. Of the 3 i prefer my Ruger 338RCM. It has fine performance but has a bit shorter length of pull, and a short action. It truly handles better at least for me, but thats just fitment. By no means do I dislike the 375 Ruger or 338 win. Theyre all great, but getting something that fits makes all the difference in the world. I am going to work on the stocks on the other two so they fit me better and get interfaced better with them. Thanks for burning a few rounds so we can see what these midbores run at.

I’m 13 I want to order a Remington 700 in 300 rum if I do I want to put a fat bastard muzzle brake on it by APA and mercury recoil compensatores to put in the stock. I am 13 6 foot 140 pounds and currently handle a 35 whelen with a muzzle brake no problem and I’m not recoil sensitive could I handle it ? Sorry it me again I just changed my mind on caliber and was wondering

That should take care of anything in North America, and you are going to be poor with ammo cost
Fun fact all 375 have far less felt recoil than that of 338 caliber rifles 🙂

@@AlaskanBallistics Think it was just because it's the feather weight... the .375 typically has more foot lbs of recoil. Either way, just glad I opted for the .375 ruger over the .375 RUM... I don't need my shoulders to touch every time I give the old trigger a yank.
Could a 13 year old who is 140 pounds and almost 6 foot shoot this round ? he shoots a 35 whelen with a muzzle brake currently

Looks like a great round. Had to Google it because I didn't know much about it. Seems it doesn't have a lot ammo choices compared to the 375 h&h, but it is nice that it fits in standard long action rifles.

Is that the Bear Hunter, Susan? I just got one of those but haven't installed the scope yet. I also bought a chronograph and 3 boxes of these GMX cartridges, and I'm so excited to see if I get the speed you're talking about. I'm a bit nervous about the recoil so I also got a Limbsaver addition and will adjust the length of pull after I put that on. It has a muzzle break that twists open and closed, and I've read that it helps a lot. Do you know if that can come off completely, so a suppressor can be installed instead? (It looks permanently mounted.) Thanks!

Yes it's the savage 110 bear hunter stainless 23" with camo acustock camberd in 375 ruger but far the ballistics on tbe hornady ammo there rated from 24" barrell but the 110 23" fluted crowned muzzle break gets about 98% fps and energy psi off whatever ammo you put in it awesome gun way more long range in the 375 ruger with some hand loads does more than they give credit for easily will run with the 338 lapua round

@@AlaskanBallistics I sold my Alaskan after I got the data. Now I'm practicing for a Cape Buffalo hunt. I'm using 77.1gr of RL17 behind a Peregrine VRG-3 with a Fed 215M primer. My average speed is 2595, and my ES in my first group was 2, yes TWO. I've also stored my gun and ammo in a vehicle in the sun at 125 degrees. That was seeing if I'd have pressure spikes in Africa. I'm happy to report, ejection was smooth and easy, with no pressure signs. I was hooked after a week shooting the .375 Ruger. Phenomenal cartridge design. I hope to add a .416 Ruger next.

@@AlaskanBallistics I haven't missed my .338 Win Mag at all! The .375 gives you the ability to shoot 200gr to 350gr bullets.
