When I fed cows 1 evening, our free-range Angus bull attacked & sent me flying 16 ft thru the air. I landed against a metal frame, bruising left side of my ribs. He charged again to finish me off. But my cow dawg rushed in, sunk his teeth into the bulls nose & chased him away to never-never land. Dawg came back checked on me, walked me back to the farmhouse, looking towards the direction where the bull ran, growling the whole time, but sorta whimpering when he checked to see if I was ok . My dawg saved my life that day. I had to treat bull for dogbite wounds for about 2 weeks. My dawg tore his face and tore his ass up. The bulls name was Buster. He lived up to his name.

Our dog woke me in the middle of the night on Christmas Eve years ago. Thinking he needed to go outside, I got up and as I walked through the living room I saw flame and smoke near the Christmas tree. We'd gone to bed and left one candle lit by mistake. The candle had guttered, leaked onto the table top near the tree and hot wax with a bit of flame was dripping down to the carpet. He ran right to it as if to show it to me. He didn't want to go outside - he was saving us from a house fire. Scientists who say that animals only act on instinct don't really know what they're talking about.

My dog would come to the rescue of anyone she considered to be "smaller" and "in danger" (e.g. if you were standing and leaned too fast/aggressively toward someone sitting down, playfighting, etc). She'd come running to their defence and would bark angrily until the person was "safe" (she was about the size of a cat, so barking was basically all she could do, lol). I also remember reading about someone whose dog growing up was _terrified_ of the vacuum cleaner, but he'd immediately set himself between the baby and the vacuum to protect it every time despite shaking like a leaf.

One of my previous dogs, Lacey, a black lab - sheltie mix, was skittish, but fiercely loyal and protective. She was scared of the vacuum cleaner (and mops/brooms), but would try to maul them if my Mom was using them. She was (mostly) bark, not bite -- unless my Mom was around. I miss Lacey.

The best story I've ever heard is when a woman's house was catching fire but she wouldn't wake up, her parakeet broke out of it's locked cage, somehow got out the closed window, and flew 200 ft up the hill to warn the neighbor. The woman was rescued from the house, but unfortunately the parakeet died from stress BK of everything it did to save it's owner😔

Absolutely my favorite animal, I have 3 all rescues, 2 Akita’s and an American Bulldog Scott type (they are not pit bulls) and they love kids and people so much it’s unreal. They have senses of humor you wouldn’t believe. I agree not 100% of all dogs are friendly, but I can guarantee that you can love the insecurities and anxiety right out of most of them. The breeds I have are considered dangerous but thats just not even close to the truth. My 100lb AB lays with my cat right beside him and myself, it fulfills my heart so much that I’ll keep dogs as long as I’m able. Be responsible people, it’s worth it 🐾🇺🇸✌️
@FurFriendz

Couldn't agree more! Dogs, especially rescues, have an incredible capacity for love and loyalty. It's all about responsible ownership and providing them with the care and attention they need. Your experience with your Akita's and American Bulldog is a testament to the fact that breed stereotypes don't define a dog's behavior. They're family members who bring so much joy and fulfillment to our lives 🐾❤🐶

The baby was getting towards the stairs of our deck, the dog walks over and nudges her back to the deck. She also would let that bay climb all over her and everything. The dog didnt care, she layed down and curled up around her when it was nap time. I swear, dogs are amazing guardians and wonderful companions

My cat saved my life too, albeit in a different way. I adopted him at nwarly 18 as his 3rd mom. Former owner had him for 10y and wrote he would never come onto your lap or lay on you in bed. And he didn't. But one night I was so low, I truly wanted to unalive myself. S. got up from next to my pillow as his usual spot and climbed on top of me, circled once and laid down. He stayed there night. He reminded me of my promise to him that I would be his last home, no more new owners and how I loved him, I thought of family and I obviously since I'm writing this decided not to do it. One more reason Is I hate waking up pets who peacefully sleep on me. The next night he climbed ob me again, still feing low but not like the day before. He cired and then walked to his own spot, seemingly satisfied there was no danger this time. It was the only time he ever laid on me, and for at least 11y by that time on anyone. That was not a coincidence. My heroic man. And to think I never wanted a male cat (resolved by the one before him) but especially not a tabby due to only bad experiences. So glad (for the entire 2,5y) I let my feemings for him when meeting him and petting him be the decisionmaker and not my past experiences. What an absolute snugglebug. (Lay against you and bellyrubbing even if he didn't initiate the latter, we could do for literal hours ❤)

Yeah, the dog's owner let his dog grab that kitten on purpose. I doubt he realized the mother cat was there and she tore his dog to pieces. A cat in my childhood did that to a neighbor's German Shepherd when the dog tried attacking me once. He tore the ear off the dog and my own Saint Bernard broke the German Shepherd's forearm, all in defense of me. I think I was in second grade so I would've been six then. (I started school a year early) Cats can be just as loyal as dogs.

I grew up with Saint Bernard Dogs. Man, talk about a great dog for children. You MUST go through obedience training with them, that's mandatory, because they simply don't realize their size or strength but they're fabulous dogs for children. VERY loyal, easy going around others but also quite watchful. Don't try to get between them and "their" kids. My dad did that once and our older Saint bit him. To be fair, he was trying to hit my sister (my dad was pretty abusive to us kids) and Andy stepped in to protect her. Dad never tried hitting any of us again. The dogs simply wouldn't allow it. Mom let us go anywhere we wanted to so long as we took one of our Saints with us. They'd probably have drooled you to death but nobody messed with us kids if we had one of the dogs with us. She knew they'd take care of us.

My brother was a preemie, back when preemies didn’t usually live. We had a little Pomeranian/dachshund mix that alerted my mom that the baby was choking. From then on he would sneak into the bassinet or crib and guard the baby. Slept right beside him. Dad caught him in there one day and got ready to punish the dog, but Mom said, “He saved your son’s life! Leave him alone!” He would keep the baby covered, and howl when the baby cried.

Im not the biggest fan of animals but I gotta say I’m impressed with these animals heroism
That reminds me of my brother Joseph whose dog will come between his hand and a neighbor who is trying to shake his hand, especially if the neighbor calls my brother loudly. The dog mistakes shouting for a quarel.
My cousins had brought their new baby over to our house and she was crawlin all around and just exploring. Our dog wouldnt let that baby our of her sight.

My protection trained Rotti boy [who has since passed] was amazingly protective and careful with babies, little kids and small animals [and tremendously fierce against those who had bad intentions] Whenever he found an injured bird or small animal he'd race up to me with a look of concern and lead me to it.

He snuggled with the baby all night long.❤️
