    I thought it was pretty good shot in that quarter second it took for the bullet to get there. I’ll admit that it wasn’t a good shot. Even so the deer only ran 30yds before crashing. We all make mistakes once in a while.

    Try to get closer. Anything past 1/2 second flight timevfor bullet is asking for trouble. Not saying your shot was past 500 yds. Getting closer by stocking to 200 would be even better

    I run a 20-inch gas gun with 129 and 130-grain bullets, and what I love the most about a 6.5 CM if you hit a deer square in the shoulder it will knock that deer down. I had the same result you did with shots behind the shoulder, they may go 10-20 yards. Great shooting.

I had my biggest buck to date this past year come in at 25 yards on opening day about 30 minutes before end of day and one round out of that Henry went through his heart and he ran 50 yards before he fell over dead. Sprayed blood everywhere, looked like a murder scene in that set of woods. That Henry is a beautiful gun not proud to say I spent 1300 on it but I’m glad I did! I thought the first one was a decent shot personally. Biggest issue I saw was the pencil sized exit hole. This year I lost a deer thanks to a copper bullet. I’m switching back to lead bullets where not required. A bullet actually designed for thin skinned game, and gives that nice exit hole. I don’t mind the exit hole, as I shoot behind the shoulders for a double lung shot when possible. So there’s little meat loss, and if I do have a runner, it isn’t far with a massive blood trail.

    Those copper bullets are great deer stoppers. But to get the type of performance that you're looking for it's best to drive that bullet into the shoulders. I'm a shoulder shooter anyways so copper and bonded bullets fit my style. If you're a traditional double lung shooter regular cup and core is all you need sir!!

    I don't know why everyone is so pumped about the 6.5CM... pretty much the same ballistics as a 6.5x55 Swede and that round has been dropping big game for over a hundred years. 260 Rem? Yeah, also very similar and has been folding up deer for decades! The 6.5CM got a bad reputation as a deer wounder early on and I think it's because people were using some of the BTHP match projectiles that didn't expand very well...

    once thing ive noticed with alot of these 6.5 creedmoor deer kills is the longer the range the quicker they fall. i have a 6.5 i have yet to shoot at a deer and a 30-06 m77 mk2 which is devastating to deer. these shorter range video like 40-60 yards they seem to run a decent way and leave very little blood, while the ones out to 200+ run a short distance or just drop. i wonder if at short range the smaller caliber is just zipping right through them not getting a chance to transfer energy and sealing the wound up. its just my idea.

All of my Az deer and fallen almost immediately or ran 60-80 yards and then out. Short distance in Tennessee is another story. Lost one two years ago, and two this year, lots of hair at the sight, but no real bood trail. Never did find them. Have been using the Hornady 143 Precision ammo for both guns. A lot of people have been telling me to try a bonded round. Federal Precision, Nosler Partition or Barnes. Going back to Tennessee later this month for one more hunt, and I'm going to try the Federal. Let's see if there is any difference.

    Please get some more long-distance practice and hone your shooting to be able to hit the vitals reliably at these distances. A couple more inches on the first shot and that deer might have suffered for hours before dying a very inhumane death. Second shot was money!

Making a negative comment to a fellow hunter then claiming you “Don’t talk shit” and then you even complain about other “idiots who pretend their shit don’t stink” But talking shit and pretending your shit don’t stink is exactly what you are doing! Otherwise you would have just said “Good kill” and moved on. It also wasn’t a mistake. He put steel on target and recovered the deer not far from where it fell. I have put 165g fusions going 2900fps from a 30-06 through both lungs and they still run 20 yards.

    Fellas, 6.5 crymore is not a hunting round. It's a target round. We gotta stop shooting game animals with target rounds. Use a proper round for the proper game animals.

    @@ChuckinTV Not kidding at all. 6.5 crymore was designed as a Match Grade cartridge, it was never designed as a hunting cartridge. It's a high BC, high velocity, thin walled bullet attached to a 6mm cartridge. High bc, high velocity, thin walled bullets are paper target bullets, they are competition bullets, they are not hunting bullets. Manufacturers have been trying to add new designs for the 6.5 crymore, that would be more suited for hunting. But unfortunately they keep designing them as match bullets and not hunting bullets. Hunting bullets need beefier jacketed walls, and need to retain a majority of it's mass in order to push through flesh AND bone, not just flesh. It need good expansion too, at the proper moments. You'll kill plenty with the 6.5 crymore, but you'll run into the common problems that most 6.5 crymore shooters run into when they use a target round when hunting game animals.

    @@youcanthandlethetruth6976 so if the 6.5 creedmoor was invented for target shooting then why is the 243 one of the most popular rounds for deer hunting the 6.5 creedmoor for one is a 26 caliber and is a longer and more powder packing bullet than an actual 260 so how do you think it’s just for target shooting? That’s like saying that you can only use a bow for hunting only if you use fixed broadheads. You can use expandable just need to have good shot placement and miss the big bone structures. The 6.5 is devastating to deer whether you think it is or not

  • @youcanthandlethetruth6976

    @youcanthandlethetruth6976

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@aaronwenger2338 .243 is not one of the most popular rounds for deer hunting, I believe the .30-30 still holds that title even after all these years. 6.5 isn't devastating to deer and anyone who has shot a 6.5 knows there are limitations. And like I said before, the limitations stem from the fact that all the bullets for the 6.5 are designed as target rounds to achieve high ballistics coefficients. When you start hitting targets at longer ranges, around 200+ yards, the 6.5 bullets tend to simply disintegrate upon impact, and sometimes they have disintegrated before impact. This is due to the fact that to achieve high BC numbers, the bullets have to be designed as target rounds, with thin walled copper jackets, poor lead core design for hunting, and in many cases the ballistics tips were poorly designed as well, Hornady actually had to change the polymer tip design. If you actually attached a properly designed hunting bullet onto the 6.5 creedmoor cartridge, you would have horrible ballistics and it would immediately fall out of favor with hunters for different cartridges that actually shoot a proper hunting bullet better.

    @@youcanthandlethetruth6976 that is one of the dumbest things I have ever read. What good is a target round that disintegrates within 200 yards? Yes, 6.5 creedmoor was designed for target shooting, but 6.5 Swede has been used for how long, since the 1890s? It has been used for moose the entire time. It uses the same bullets as the creedmoor. Another ridiculous thing you stated is that .243 isn’t one of the most popular deer rounds. It is easily in the top ten, if not top five, most popular deer hunting calibers available, depending on where you live. Creedmoor is more than enough for average, mid to lower long distance, ranges. It has a higher sectional density at 140 grains than a 180 grain .308 bullet. In 2017, USSOCOM tested the .308 against .260rem and 6.5 creedmoor. They found that the creedmoor delivered almost 50% more kinetic energy on target at 1000 meters. You simply don’t know what you are talking about, especially considering that you can get copper solids for hunting. Those will hold together on impact as well as or better than most standard hunting bullets.
