My very first ride in a "fast" car was around September, 1990. I was 18. A buddy of mine (also 18) had just received an inheritance and naturally, he did what any teenage boy with thousands of dollars did back then - he bought the fastest new car he could afford; a 1991 Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo. I'll never forget that first launch I experienced on an uphill freeway onramp. The rush of power was nothing I'd felt in a performance car up to that point and I'll never forget it for the rest of my life. That Z is a very special car and not only am I glad you got to find it, own it and enjoy it but ever so thankful you brought us along for the ride. Hoping for the very best miles ahead for that Z. Thank you.

I was 16 when I rode in a 300ZX twin turbo, in Nov of 1991. And like you, it was the very first fast car I was a passenger in. I rode in Mustang 5.0 GT's of that time, but they weren't as fast. Again, similar to your story, the guy who owned it was "spoiled" and got this car brand spanking new as a 16 y.o....He grew bored of it after a couple years and also got the FD3S R1 brand new, after selling the 300ZX twin turbo off. I wanted to buy it off of him, but didn't have $18,000 30 years ago as a high school senior lol. Anyways, he was kind enough to let me the drive the RX7 a few times, and hard. Fast forward to 2001 and the fastest car I drove at the time was a brand new C5 Z06 with 385hp. A year after that, the faster car I drove was a 2002 Viper. Those are all my "exploits" with fast cars. I currently own a '95 300ZX twin turbo that I bought 3 years ago.

I had a 91 2+2 in highschool and I loved the rush of flooring it at 30-35mph crossing an intersection on a yellow light with a car full of buddies! it wasn't that quick but to us it was and the engine sounded awesome. Would love to get a TT someday as I do see myself collecting cars as time goes by.

I just turned 52 and I bought a 94 back in 99 with only 32,000 miles. This car to this day is an absolute chick magnet as I can tell by the quick stare's and smiles from the lady's of different ages especially when I have the T tops off. My oldest son just recently graduated from High school and I let him use it for his prom night. He was the talk of the night with everyone including other kids with modern Mustang's, Camaro's. It's never been modified only the wheels that are Volk TE37 with a GoMex body kit . I just past the 85,000 mile mark this past year after all of these years and it still runs absolutely perfect a/c ect.. I wouldn't trade it for any other car in the world.

I bought this exact car in 1997. It was a 1995 garage queen with 12k miles. Owned by an eye surgeon. In the 3 years I owned it I probably received more comments about it than any other sports car that I have owned.

I've had my 19k-mile (yes, nineteen) TT since new. You don't get rid of a Z, you keep it and ADD to your collection. I don't think I've ever heard anyone who didn't get rid of theirs say they didn't regret it. Mine will be passed on to my son, so at least it'll stay in the family.

So awesome. It’s weird to say but I’m actually sad to see this car go as well. Strangely enough this was my very first poster car as a kid. I remember when it first came out and the car magazine had a pull out poster in the center and it was this exact car in black. I even built a 1:18 Tomica plastic model replica which I still have btw. Its sad to hear this car is leaving and remembering all the episodes of you absolutely loving it. If i was in a better spot myself I'd bet on it, but alas, I'll have to wait before i get to experience t-tops (which i will definitely do ine day!). I think your next project should be owning a 3000gt vr4 the competitor to this car. It'd be interesting to see both sides of the coin from someone who's had experience in both. There's a vr4 sitting outside a mechanic shop for the longest by me and if its still there in spring i think I'm ponying up and asking the guy if the owners willing ti sell it. Never hurts rlto ask; after all, you miss 100% of the shots you don't take!

Wow. What a gear video. I watched it twice. I really enjoy the Everyday Driver videos. There are so many fantastic car reviewers on KZread but you guys really are my favorite. It’s too bad to see Todd have to part with that car. It’s one of my go to cars in Forza Horizon. And the 928 I know from Risky Business. But I now associate the 300z with Todd and the 928 with Paul. I’d love to bid on this thing. To own Todd’s car would be awesome. But I bet this car sells for like $31.5k. That’s my prediction. I bet a fan will pay for that great history and rightfully so. I wonder what car is next for Todd. I can’t wait to tune in to find out. Keep the great content coming. I’ve started the process of really researching to hopefully get something someday that I’ll enjoy (the RAV4 hybrid is reliable but man I miss having something fun). This site is the go to for me to help me decide. Thank you and I look forward to the next chapter.

It's a shame to see it go, but the road trips you've provided us have been great. I felt for a moment, personally attacked as my Toyota Soarer twin turbo (1JZ, RHD, 6speed manual) sits in the garage at the moment, in perfect condition. But due to little kids, it barely gets used anywhere near like it should. Life does change, but I know if I was to sell it, I would never get another one.

I owned a 1991 300ZX Twin Turbo and it as an amazing car but damn they are a pain to work on and fix yourself, but loved and missed mine :( had to find a specialist as most Nissan dealers won't even touch the car and required the small amount of techs that have has experience on it. when I blew he engine I got the Nissan 300ZX huge official Nissan book and with that it still took me 4 months to pull/rebuild the engine and make sure the maze of vacuum limes and what not were all correct and even then still had issues, like the Super HICAS system that was always breaking and had to be disabled lol so many stores can go on and on about but and the end of the day it was worth it and such an amazing fun care and so many things ahead of its time in the car, was just so awesome.

Such a cool car, old & Japanese….still reliable. Please return the stock wheels. The new weren’t the best choice & kinda ruin it.

I don’t think I would ever sell my 1995 TT. Black beauty and almost completely stock. Definitely original staggered wheels and original radio. Not even tint on the glass. Just needs a paint job for sure. Post 1994 are the best years and 1995 is the last year you want for a TT. Can anyone name the reasons for post 1994 being best and especially why 1995 is the last year you want a TT version?

I have a 1994 NA Coupe (not T-Top). The dual airbags, B-pillar seatbelt mounts, and the keyless entry are the main enhancements.

If you're keeping it stock, the year doesn't matter, other than newer is always better (all else being equal). I wouldn't argue that 95 is the best. The earlier years are lighter, so there's that, and the aftermarket is friendlier to 90-95, though 96 can be modded as well if you know what you're doing. 96 is also the last and most rare, so it's not like you're going to have a lot of choices anyway from that year. Later models had better PTUs, fuel injectors, and electric HICAS, but earlier years had some better-quality materials and features in a few spots (the trunk "carpet" in late models is a joke). A lot of people put a lot of stock in their mods, but when I'm shopping for one (which is right now), I'll pay more for a stock, garaged Z32 regardless of year. If it's modded, I'll likely pass on it unless the mods are tasteful, minor, and can be reversed easily. No garish wings. No dumb fender flares. No poorly-sorted, problematic engine/electronic mods. That's just me.

Wish I could afford to be the new owner. I’m liven the WRX life.

The 300zx is a pain to fix, bit it also keeps working when broken. I can't say the same thing about RX-7's.

It’s too bad that you can’t keep your 300ZX. I’ve had to part with a few cars, but nobody can take away the memories created in them!
