I don't understand why they thought that bringing a portable washing machine onto a cruise ship would be ok. They ended up getting agitated, and they were in a spin when it was decided that they were all washed up and hung out to dry.

My husband and I gave security a good laugh when boarding a few years ago. I had a craft iron in my bag and it had a long handle. The shape showed on the screen and they were hesitant to ask me what it was and even more hesitant to open the bag to actually take it out. The relief on his face when he saw it wasn't a "toy" was priceless 😂😂

Tony, just noticed you are over 1/4 Million subscribers, Congratulations! Interesting about the number of people being arrested "After" the cruise and the Police being there to meet the ship on arrival back home to make the arrests. To my mind, if possible it would be far better to get this criminal element with arrest warrants "Before" they get on the ship which would be more comforting and safer for all the innocent passengers. I know sometimes the law can't always catch people before cruises. However, maybe with the amount of info which passengers have to give the cruise company in order to make a reservation may be used to further assist law enforcement to prevent the "undesirable" from making it onboard in the first instance. Maybe you can mention this on your channel and the cruise line might get the idea. Love the videos, keep up the good work. Cheers!

I was on the NCL Viva in February. I totally hated it! The ship holds 4000 people and the pool fit about 50. The venues were so small, we either had to stand, or didn't get in. All the entertainment had to be booked in advance, including dining. Even though I am a Sapphire member, I was not able to book 4 of the specialty dining venues. Can you tell I didn't have a good time on this ship. I will never go on the Prima Class ships ever again. Give me the old ships any day!

Worse cruise ever. If it weren’t for the ports of call I’d have gotten off after day 1. We heard how awful it was from other people, but we had already booked and we were going to go. I hope your experience is better than 90% of the other people that sail that ship. Since it is in and out of a US port, they have to follow US labor laws. Now , just imagine a bunch of young American adults, working on a cruise ship under US labor laws. One lazy teenager working at a grocery store is one thing but imagine a ship full of them.

@@nonnauu3977 Crystal Cruises did quite well with their mostly American crew. Well, until their holding company messed up and Crystal was all that was valuable. But I’m guessing they weren’t following all of the labor laws about hours etc, though if you pay well enough those laws may not apply either.

Actually the Carnival prohibited items says appliances with a heating element. A washer doesn't have a heating element. So it's not on the list. But Carnival reserves the right to confiscate any item regardless.

The amount of weight, space and cost of that machine would probably be more expensive then the extra week or two of close it could have bought. My guess is they were trying to smuggle it into a port to sell. Why they took a cruise instead of a renting a boat is the question.

Carnival Celebration, Carnival Jubilee and Mardi Gras do not have washers and dryers. They do have a room with a few irons. Carnival Firenze, Carnival Luminosa and Carnival Venezia do not have washers, dryers nor ironing rooms.

First, a question-- how do you handle cruising during hurricane season? I also live in the coastal southeast and have to deal with this every year. I know the ship will be safe, but I worry about my house, the dogs, etc. I avoid cruising in the summer/early fall for this reason but would love to know any tips for just sucking it up and going (which may just be "suck it up and go", chances are, you'll be fine). Second-- if they truly want to wash something, buy a Scrubba bag. I bought one for our cruise two cruises ago (I recommend buying direct, as lots of Amazon reviews said they got fake dupes, and they aren't that cheap), but honestly I've never used it. I bring Shout wipes (because I hate how the Tide pen smells), hand wash anything that truly needs it, and take advantage of the midweek laundry special on NCL. No reason to need a washing machine, but if you're truly wanting to do some laundry, a Scrubba bag will likely suffice. I've also been told it works great as a wet bag, so there's that.

Appreciate your hard work in producing podcasts and videos and sharing your experiences and thoughts on the latest happenings. I'm really surprised at the attempted washing machine smuggling, not something I would have considered. I'm trying to figure out how it could be used in the cabin, in the shower area? Mark me down as (very) puzzled.

Tony.... you are by far, my favorite!! I love your humor. I look forward to your video every day!

We sailed on the Viva a little over a month ago, and we loved it. We have been on the Prima as well, and as some have pointed out, the layout is identical, but we did notice some furnishing and decor differences. The important thing we noticed is they corrected quite a few of the issues the Prima had on the ship. Less creaking and things breaking like the glass walkway on deck 8. Also, the cabin trim around the curtain pocket for the balcony door had brackets added to eliminate the creaking. If you liked the Prima, you'll like the Viva that much more.

Don’t know when I’ll be able to cruise again but still love your videos! Great sense of humor!

The Viva is identical to Prima. Same size of everything...the restaurants, staterooms, bars, the Haven, all exact same ships to each detail!

Plan on using the stairs more often than you want. The ship is too big to NOT have the smart elevators.

I’m thinking about the Carnival Venezia. I live in Tn, & it’s about the same distance to Manhattan as it is to Port Canaveral. Plus, you can sail twice as long for the same amount of money. I consider it a win😂😂

They are about the size of a small bucket and it collapses. They also sell a small device about the size of a smoke alarm that you put in a sink and it moves the water around to clean cloths.

My ex and I got called out because she had two bottles of wine in her bag, they took us aside to look further into our luggage. All was well after they confiscated her curling iron. We were allowed to board, had a great cruise,(as usual), after reclaimed the iron, then on our way. Easy peasy, I felt no humiliation whatsoever

We had a power strip confiscated in Miami and they kept it in Miami! They were annoyed when we insisted they give it back at the end of the cruise! Weve changed to a European plugged strip and we have had no more issues!

@@heresnotdave The screeners didn’t seem to know that, and it had been on other cruises where it was approved! Our new one plugs into the 220 outlet and no one has questioned that. Afaik, no 220 power has surge protectors, but fortunately no one has called us out for it. We use it in our pre cruise hotels among other places. It cuts down on the number of adapters we need to have!

Hey, I brought a portable washing machine on my celebrity eclipse cruise last October. It was a $12 Temu purchase and it worked absolutely fine and I was not questioned at all. Mine was pretty compact. It was collapsible and I drove to the port. That’s the only reason I brought it.

I have a portable washing machine that will fit in a suitcase. It has a bucket that will collapse to just a few inches high. It came with a little bag to carry. I can see the cruise ship not allowing it, but if you're a camper or travel on the road trip, it can come in handy. Also, you can buy just a motor agitator to use in a sink.

Little known fact: Hannah Waddingham is not just the ship’s godmother. She will be permanently stationed in the ship’s naughty room shaming anybody who brings contraband on board.

We are on the MSC Seascape in 17 days and are going to be visiting Nassau, Porta Plata and San Juan. Thanks Tony for your posting of the cruise port in Nassau I really enjoyed it.

i think the real problem, is not that someone brought a washing machine, but most ships lack a feature / function that most people want, a self-serve laundromat.

Most of Carnival's fleet has self-service launderettes (except the newer ships). Not sure about other cruise lines but they were sailing on carnival so there probably was a self-service launderette.

I've seen portable washing machines on Temu, they have collapsible ones that you manually spin. I think that's more what they probably had. To me it has always seemed like more work than just going to use the paid laundry facility. So far I've always been lucky enough to be on a ship that had launderettes.

Okay so i have a portable washing machine it is tiny & collapses completely flat. It no bigger than a large purse when opened. Ive never brought it on a cruise but i have bought it on long vacations where laundry mats weren't available.

I’ve been on NCL 5x. I like big ships. Last one was Escape.
