    Nice informative video. I'm 70 years old. I've grown my hair 3 or 4 times in my life. I didn't plan on growing my hair again at this point. But COVID made it impossible to get a haircut for awhile. When hair cutting establishments opened up again, I decided to just keep it. Why not? Not many guys my age have hair to grow. So why not enjoy it? Over the years, I've heard just about every negative comment there is. At my current age, I get almost no positive feedback for my hair. It's either negative or they say nothing. It doesn't bother me one bit. I've grown immune to the criticism over the years. There is one thing that did surprise me. I'm single and so I decided to join an online dating service about 6 months ago. Waste of time and money. Nearly every single lady my age disliked my hair and some were not shy in telling me. lol But I'll cut it when I decide, not simply to please someone else.

    I care for my long hair. 1 year of growing now. My hair looks healthy but naturally greasy. But I couldn't care less on how I style it. I'm the only male in my family that's has long hair. I got sick and tired of same short haircut back in highschool. So I decided for a change.

    Hey Trav I’m new to the channel, I came cause some friends said I should switch up my hair routine. The only part of long hair I’m not fond of is I have a surgery scar right on my hairline that makes it look like it’s receding, I’ve found a lot of confidence in keeping my hair long because of this channel. I appreciate it and keep up the hard work king.

    Having very wavy, curly hair and was almost 2 years into it, but the length was still only to the end of my ears because the hair curls and makes it shorter. It takes probably 5 years for me to grow them out properly. One time a guy at work told me that i looked like Lionel Richie from the 80s, which discouraged me to the point to cut them all off again. So here we go again with the growing out.

    In the process of growing my hair out from a buzz cut, I’m currently 7 months in. I have very fine/straight hair so when I get to this stage it starts going toward that flippy emo hair look (which I’m trying to avoid). Luckily, it’s very cold where I’m at right now so I’m just wearing my hair back in a beanie all day.

    Thanks for the video Trav, I'll look into joining the FB group. ... I'm 60 now and don't plan to ever cut it. My hair starts fair at the top then goes wavy at the middle and ends curly at the tips. ... ever since my teenage years I wanted to let it grow long but kept giving up, mostly for the awkward period and society "job". ... finally started to grow it long for the first time when I was 55 but trimmed it a bit after 10 months because I still didn't have a set goal. ... then let it grow for 3 years. I was so happy🙂 untill I neglected it for 2 weeks when it got tangle. I got so depress☹️ that did nothing with the knot for 1 year ( big mistake as it only got worse ); hopping to find someone to take care of it. ... finally got rid of the knot about 7 months ago loosing about 12 inches😭 in the process. ... now I know better and is growing faster and better.

    I'm 22 now but my whole life whenever I've seen a man with long hair even celebrities I've always looked I mean I've never met any celebs so let me just correct that but that's because I've always wanted long hair even through primary school but my mum wouldn't let me she preferred it shorter cos my hair would go funny and the back would stick up like Diary of a wimpy kid but I never actually thought to ask her. I'm now on my 3rd time growing it out as the last 2 times I made the mistake of undercutting it but now I'm at a year fully growing it out and just recently got a trim. I admit at times my hair clumps at the bottom and annoys the heck outta me but I always reassure myself that this is what I wanted. I'm hoping to grow it down to my shoulders at least and I'll see where I go from there.

    I am growing my hair out longer than I ever have for the first time because during my entire life, I have had short hair and before I am dead and gone, I want to simply see what I look like with full blown long hair one time. Another reason is because it is almost impossible for me to get a hair cut with where I live and the life style I lead. If i cut my hair myself, i usually mess it up and people have a lot to say about it lol. So why not just let it grow and not touch it. I am about 8 months in and it looks funny but I just throw a beanie on and forget about it. I don't comb by hair and I wash it with shampoo a few times a week. I am just letting my hair do it's thing. It is very easy to give up so if you are growing your hair out, just let it go and forget about it. Let it grow.

    Hey Trav! Important Question: I’m growing out my hair from essentially a buzzcut. I’m just over 10 months of hair growth and I had a “setup cut” 1 month ago. I started seeing this hair stylist ironically enough, 2 days after my set up cut. But no, she was not the stylist who gave me that set up cut. She just recently became my girlfriend. What I just realized that since she’s a stylist, she’ll want to trim or cut my hair far more often than I want it done. So my question is how do I make it clear that I’m growing my hair out and don’t want any trims for a while?

    Depends what style you want. I'm growing out a buzz cut and finally got to a semi undercut stage length so I have been shaving the back and sides with a #3 as I don't want to go to drastic yet and just let the top grow. I have thick hair so I also got thinning sheers for the top and it makes a world of difference of getting rid of the bulk while still keeping the length

  • @tea_fran

    @tea_fran

    2 жыл бұрын

    I'm not the same Travis, but I have the same predicament. I'd say leave it long on top for a while. Having your hair longer on top gives you some instant satisfaction in terms of growth, and it's easier to style when you get to the awkward stage. Go to a stylist only every 3-4 months and let them know you're growing your hair out and that you just want your ends dusted/trimmed and to shape it up since the top is longer than your sides. They'll work with it so that your hair length on the top gradually matches the sides after each appointment. Ideally you'll be going to the same person every time. Best of luck, I've been growing for about 10 months myself!

    @@whitewizard1914 totally! It's easy to go to both extremes: cutting it too often ( I get mine cut roughly every three months not only to blend the top with the sides and get shaped up, but also because ends begin to split. Those splits eventually damage a majority of the strand, and make the length of your hair look frayed. Obviously conditioner is great but it can only do so much. I found that 3-4 months is the sweet spot for maintenance while growing.

    My hair reaches my mid back, and it's curly. My tips are to think about using hair clips, and satin scrunchies (instead of just normal black hair ties). Hair products will not make your hair fall out, just because they're hair products. *Whoever tries to tell you this has no clue what they're talking about*. Detangle from tips to roots (bottom to top). Consider getting a blow drier with a diffuser attachment. Say goodbye to sulfates and silicones *research this*. Don't ever dry brush curly hair, and research until your head explodes. Also, bond builders and deep conditioners are life-savers.

    I think more hair is better, and more natural. Later in life or at some point it's easier to just have a boring shorter haircut, but the ability to just wake up and not care as much is amazing. It isn't for everyone. I think it's normal and traditionally warriors and other people didn't bother to have haircuts, it used to be normal. For some people it is simply a better style, but they are told to just conform. It is a result of women dictating what men should do and trying to degrade them down to their level, also capitalism products trying to tell you that you 'needed' shampoos, haircuts, and things that are pretty much new. Society has changed and thinks they know what is best. I've gotten comments taht I should just 'get a haircut' mostly from my older parents, but then other people (even older other family members) are usually kind of interested or don't care about it. Anyone who does care is probably indoctrinated or has a weird idea they should not have, it is usually not some major thing that decides if you are accepted by them or not. Those ideas were reinforced to people and now they do all sorts of things they don't need to do. It does take like 2+ years, probably more honestly. I am interested how girls end up doing it, but they usually don't know, it just seems to happen, and they occasionally wash. Obviously our male hormones are so different that our hair ends up looking different than theirs does, it almost always looks dirtier or sweaty for some reason while theirs is positively fluffy or perfect looking; not taht I want it that way, but it still interesting. For them it's almost biological that their hair is thin and parts naturally, but me it's like you occasionally need to touch it up, or even washing it could completely mess up the natural protection and look, making it both a challenge but a added benefit to be able to mess with it vs just boringly not having any options.
