@ANACONDA 23 make sure you get a barber youre mad comfortable with. Its hard but its possible, maybe going to salons instead of barbers would be better. Just ask them to leave the sides and the back (if youre growing them out ofc) and to just thin the top out and get rid of any access bulk. You could even ask to cut the length a bit if you want to give the top some time to catch up with the sides

blow drying is the best type of drying, only if you do it right: medium temperature and at a good distance, like atleast 10 centimetres (don't know inches i'm euperon lul). The more the hair stays wet the more swollen the cuticle becomes, so try to dry the hair as soon as possible to avoid breakage and shallow hair.

I went bald at the start of quarantine because I felt like it. It’s been a year and 1 month now and the back part goes a little past my neck/shoulders. Looks really good tbh. Best decision I’ve made. I can put into a man bun now. I am still gunna grow it out for another year. I also haven’t had it cut or trimmed since I started growing it out. I am considering trimming it though. And I haven’t blowdried or straightened it

Any updates? How is it growing for you?
Very helpful thank you. I’m growing out a pixie cut and I cut my own hair. Obviously, cutting the back is really difficult but I have thick wavy hair which makes it easier to disguise with products too lol. I’m sure it’s not something you would recommend but it grows so quickly I would be there every few weeks. Having thick hair I get what you described, thicker on the sides. There’s a fine line between thinning and cutting. I’ve seen hairdressing thinning scissors that cut from the scalp and the hair lays flat not stick up because it’s so short. Don’t worry I’m not going there! Leave that to you professionals! Drying my hair in different ways and using different products usually gets me through a grow out but it’s a very difficult stage, one in which you fight temptation to get it all chopped off again lol. I wish I knew what I’m growing it into, I’m thinking no longer than just under the chin with layers. Being thick makes it difficult. One thing I found out over recent years is that having my hair too long adds years to me and drags me down. Shorter definitely made quite a few years roll away. That’s for me anyway, so 🤞🏻I find a style that is ‘me’! Thank you for sharing 💇🏻♀️ 😊
wish I could give this man my hair. he deserves it
I always cut myself and I use a cap when I try to grow my hair out and just trim the end a little if it looks absolutely awful. Cutting your hair by yourself is at times pretty hard, it requires you to have tried different cuts and experienced the bad to understand what is the good. I would advice everybody who wants to grow their hair out to get a pair of thinning shears because your hair will look like a mess if you just let it grow. You don't really need to cut a complete hairstyle when you save your hair out, just trim your ends a little and shear your hair if it looks like a crows nest. Another thing about the cap is that it removes the need to use a lot of products that can ruin your hair, your hair can look like a mess under the cap, nobody will know, keep the end of your hair trimmed and it will look alright without products.. ^^

Everything you are saying is why I've given up on growing my hair out, and it just happened again. I went to what I would consider a good barber yesterday, emphatically stated that I am growing my hair out and that I've had trouble in the past when telling stylists that I'm growing my hair out and they cut too much, and he was all understanding. He proceeded to cut off a shit ton of my hair, and, again, I'm pissed off. I guess next time that I will get a picture on my phone and do like you say.
I’ve been growing my hair for a few months because I realized that short hair doesn’t look good on me, but my barber keeps cutting all of my hair out, literally 3 times in a row, I ask him to not cut too much because I just want to fix my hair and then he just cuts everything off, my hair now has like 2 inches and it was 6 before.

Don’t you love when you show them one style that is long and they say “oh yeah, I got you” then make you look like Adam Sandler ruining a whole year of growing your hair out.
Every barber that’s within one hour of my area isn’t professional like this, I’d ask for a trim and they’ll cut half the length of my hair.

My hair grows really fast Infront of my ears and since I don't have a beard it doesn't look very good like that (it's also very stubborn and won't slick behind the ears even with gel/clay). Is it advisable to cut those bits off yourself or could that cause problems? Don't really want to be going to the barbers every two weeks just for that especially if I'm tryna grow out..
