    I really don't see a problem with the message as it is up front about being a paraphrase...no one should use it as a main bible and I wouldn't use it for memorising scripture either but it can give fresh insight on familiar passages and it doesn't claim to be something it isn't.

    @Sue Ling fresh insight isn't different though to truth....I mean fresh to me not novel to the Christian church. Commentaries are typically written by a single person treat the message as adding the same as a good commentary in terms of understanding and you will be fine....if it doesn't suit you that's fine to though. I generally just prefer reading a more regular translation but I can't see the harm in looking at a passage, especially a very familiar passage in the message from time to time.

    The problem, and it's a crucial problem, is that the man who rewrote the New Testament and labeled it a translation claimed Divine inspiration for doing so, consulted no original transcripts, and puts it on the same plane as other translations and possibly higher. The Passion Translation reads more like a Charismatic commentary than a Bible. In contrast, Eugene Peterson was upfront that The Message is his paraphrase of the Bible, is meant for more casual reading, and is not to be used for serious Bible study.

    @@omarperez4010 I work in deliverance ministry and have known for years that this test “1 John 4:2 By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God,” doesn’t work which goes against my belief in scripture. Earlier this year I asked God why and He said “Check out the Greek translation”. As I started looking in the concordance with these verses, I had the revelation that that Greek scriptures are are translation of the spoken word (usually Aramaic or Hebrew). When you repeat the test using Yeshua Hamaschiah instead of Jesus Christ 1John 4:2 actually works.

    Nah, bro. You're over complicating it. It's not a magic trick. The main reasons deliverances won't always work is because those being held captive rarely want freedom from it. The human will is complex and stronger than our thoughts. A person will often cognitively be aware that their oppression or possession is harming them and getting in the way of what they really want, but their will doesn't follow those thoughts; they like the demons they're with. You took so many leaps I'd only be able to sort everything out in person with LOTS of questions, so I'm addressing this to other people who stumble in here more than to you because I know everyone understands that yt comments aren't a worthwhile place to truly find understanding. The first time the people of God are instructed in how to discern wether or not a spirit or prophet is from God is in Deuteronomy: 1. Fulfillment of short-term prophecy 2. Complete accuracy and continuity with the scripture written before--God will never contradict Himself. Both things must be present for it to be a spirit from God or a prophet from God. If a man can't give a short term prophecy that's fulfilled then he's not from God, but spirits CAN work those miracles, so then everything that's said next must be 100% in line with scripture. If it deviates, or changes what was previously said, then we are to disregard everything they say because it's not from a spirit of God. This is the primary test that was referenced in John 4

  • @bufficliff8978

    @bufficliff8978

    3 жыл бұрын

    (I'm on mobile, accidentally hit reply, and can't go back to edit it) *1 John 4:1 It's a very precise test. Also, don't neglect that the verse says "...because many false prophets have gone out into the world." This section simply isn't about demonic possession; it's about recognizing false prophets and people who are masquerading as Christian leaders for the sake of power or influence. If someone denies Jesus Christ then they are in in the spirit of God but are of the same spirit of the antichrist who is to come. It's like if someone denies that the cardinals baseball team is superior to the Cubs baseball team, they're not from stl Missouri--they're from Chicago Illinois. It's not that if you think the Cubs are better you're exclusively on the Cubs team or being held prisoner by management and being forced to say that; you're just from their hometown. The passage is about not being deceived; it's not about how to deliver anyone from possession, so the verse doesn't apply to what you were trying to use it for, which is a better explanation of why it didn't work than your technical "mispronouncing" of Jesus' name. Demons know EXACTLY who you're talking about when you speak the name of Jesus. It's not a magic word where the inflection has to be perfect. The one you call upon holds the power, and they know EXACTLY who you're talking with. This passage is about recognizing and discerning false prophets just like the passage in (I believe) Deuteronomy 17, but I'm horrible with remembering numbers. What's the test? 1. Short term fulfilled prophecy 2. Complete accuracy to the scriptures we already have written and preserved for us.

    I used to really struggle with reading the O.T. As a younger Christian, I found it boring and found myself hopelessly inept at deciphering any meaning the O.T. authors intended to convey. In some honest moments with GOD, I prayed for guidance and for the LORD’s help with this. In answering my prayers, He directed me to The Message. Through this wonderful paraphrase of the Bible that maintains its fidelity to the original languages the Bible was written in, the O.T. began to come alive for me, and I became intrigued with the historical books of the O.T. in particular. I continued using The Message for a few years before “graduating” to the NKJV. I have come to enjoy the NKJV more than any other translation, which is nothing more than a personal preference. Others may enjoy the ESV or prefer the NASB, and good for those brothers and sisters. When presented with The Passion Translation, something prevented me from getting into it. My pastor at the time and even another very mature brother whom I respected both loved The Passion Translation and liberally encouraged others to take it up. I just could not get into it; it was not for me. Logically, I think part of it was the fact that TPT existed only as a N.T. “translation” along with Psalms, Proverbs, and Song of Songs (I cannot speak to TPT as of today). I was not interested in taking up another “translation” that was only half a Bible. I now believe that GOD steered me away from TPT. I will go a step further and state that the popular Christian fiction series, “The Chosen”, also goes too far. Its writers are taking great license about real biblical people who did pivotal things, as documented in the Bible. To otherwise recreate their stories outside of the Bible goes too far, in my opinion. Despite many Christians raving to me about “The Chosen”, like TPT, I just cannot get into it. I’ve tried; I’ve even watched two whole episodes, concluding that I don’t like it; I don’t agree with it; and it’s not for me.

But I had no idea this fellow is following a path similar to Joseph Smith's. Too bad the author hasn't read Galatians 1:8-9 (or isn't aware (or willingly ignorant) of how closely it applies to him). "But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. The Passion is one of 2 Bibles I refuse to read, the other being The Message. I fear the author of the Message has some of the same abuses to translating text. For instance part of the Lord's Prayer in Matthew 6:10 in the MEV reads, "Your kingdom come; Your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven." The same verse in The Message reads, "Set the world right; Do what’s best-as above, so below." That last phrase, "as above, so below," is straight from the Emerald Tablet and occult literature refers back to this. Paraphrases always have their limitations. As a wise man once taught me, "A paraphrase only presents one point of view. A translation presents many points of view, making it the Living Word of God."

    Hi, I am from Bogotá, Colombia in South America. I am really glad for having such information . Could you please write the name of the Scholar Alisa named at the beginning of the video, minute 0:33 ? Thank you very much. I am trying to translate in to spanish and I would like being as accurate as posible. My Pastors came from Rhema Tulsa OK, 30 years ago and My family an me we have been attending this Church for the last 11 years. Last June 2020 I was reading a Mark Hankins¨book titled "The bloodline of a champion" and I found he made two references of Norman Vincent Peale; I just looked for a little more and going deeper on the internet I realize that some things I have been taught was wrong; since this day I went back to re-study sistematic theology and I found Alisa videos, Mike videos and Melissa videos too. I have heard Ravi Zacarias too, and John Piper. I am trying to help as many people I can with the truth on those dangerous days.

    Amazing how they twist the scripture base on there own preconcieve idea, there own theology, there own philosopy. This is the tràdition of man sound doctrine, and make merchandise of the Churchs of God. The foolishness of there heart the mouth speak, or if there heart is full of empty deciet. They lean on there own understanding out of ignorance of the scripture, they crept in unnotice among the churches of God who will read the word of God out of context. They speak flattering word of human carnal thinking. They make there own Jesus to entice many member of the churchs of God. They can make there own parable, and proverbs. there are many supporting verses of the scripture written by the prophets, and of the Apotles of Christ who are being being missenterpreted, some are being ignore out of ignorance. They have no idea if they are being disqualied, or forsaken by the Holy Spirit of God. If anyone preach to you a different gospel that you have not recieve from the writting of the Apostles of Christ, Let him be a curse. They establish there own righteoussness, and have not submmitted unto the righteoussness of the law of faith in Christ our Lord Jesus our Pastor, who is sitting at the right hand of the Father, who will judges His sheep at His right, and the goat at His left on judgesment day. Is the bible lacking of anything that you have not recieve it. Did God speak unto you.? Let the bible speak for itself. Sharing the good news of the bible is a noble task. You make sure what you are sharing is not a poisonn to the mind of the hearer. Faith comes from hearing, and hearing the word of God, and to obey all that was written in the book of life, or you will be found a lier. No wonder even satan can pretend an angel of light who decieve the woman first in the garden of eden. He will be save by child bearing for the coming of Christ to be a living sacrifice for our sin to distroy the works of satan at the cross, and to fullfil the law of Christ given by God the Father, because our currupt body cannot inherit the incurruptable body, which is the new Jerusalem, the new heaven, and the new earthly body. You cannot add, or subtract what was written in the book of life. Our faith is base on the wisdom of God, no man is wiser than the creator, no man is good, or righteouss. God do not revere man, or to be glorify. He who humble shall be your servant. We are all one sheep with one Pastor. We are all brother, and sister in Christ Jesus. These is My beloved Son whom I am please. If no one will depend the truth, many will believe a lie, and Satan is the father of all lies. These is the ministry of Satan. These is the passion of the charismatic movement. The foolisness of there heart the mouth speak. I hope you are enlightene of the truth. May God Bless.

    I have a very dear friend who seems to be caught up in a lot of this NAR stuff. She thinks very highly of Bethel church and Brian Johnson. When I talked to her about my strong concerns on this "Passion Translation" she responded by saying that she was sorry I was offended by it but it passes "the fruit test" for her. I'm 99% certain all she meant by "the fruit test" is that it made her feel good. She's also very caught up in working miracles (or attempting to), and I get the verrry strong impression that her and her girl friends are extremely influenced by dreams, impressions, and emotions and not so much by the Word. How do you talk to a fellow believer about the dangers of this book and this group?

  • @immahuman9483

    @immahuman9483

    Maybe you can ask her “tell me about your fruit test?” And when she answers, break out your bible right there and then and go to the scriptures describing fruit of the spirit, and ask her where that test is in the Bible. People love to go to “fruit” because it is a subjective measure rather than an objective one like God’s word, which is outside of ourselves. Then they can call the shots. Keep bringing her back to justify her position using the word of God and study to show yourself approved in the word as well. Take notes so you don’t forget. Deuteronomy 13 and 18 are good scriptures for this idea. Even if the fruit looks “good” (by the way, it looked good to Eve, too), if these prophets or teachers lead you after another god, the god of self, their message is not from God.

    High Lightning - good question that I'm still searching for the short answer. There are experiences in the Christian life, thatis true, but we ought to seek Jesus, not an experience - which is what they are doing. Some want the experience so badly that they open themselves up to the occult (grave sucking, fire tunnels and so on) and call it a Holy Spirit event. This couldn't be further from the truth. They have turned these gifts and experiences into works (you aren't saved unless you speak in tongues and so on) and in doing so they have fallen from grace (Galatians 5) and many have become fill of pride. I know this because I've been ministring to people trying to come out of the hyper-charismatic movement and some will leave but few will be humble enough to question EVERYTHING they've ben taught and examine what they believe against the Word of God. In fact, many of them don't like studying the Word that much. The NAR is doing so much damage and God will hold them accountable.

    Alisa, I appreciate everything you said in your video. Definitely things to think about. And I can see the concerns. I have been reading tpt for a couple of years now. But I’ve also been reading the amplified, NIV and the NKJ next to what I’m reading so I can compare. There are things I feel I have a better understanding to what I’m reading and part of that is due to what I’m reading from the tpt. (I know this isn’t going to be popular to what everyone else is saying.) It’s always been important to me to stay to close to God’s word and what it means and it’s the reason I’ve taken the time to compare what I’m reading from the tpt to other Bibles. I’m actually surprised the Message Bible is brought up. I personally have never liked it as it is a very watered down version of the Bible that loses the impact of God’s word. I also see it is another Bible that some say that it also is not reliable. So just surprised when I see that it is held above the Passion. But I do appreciate the information. I will continue to do research on this and will continue to go slowly with the Passion as well as comparing to other Bibles and be very prayerful. 😌

    Verity Podcast by Phylicia Masonheimer provides good info about the Old Testament canon. It's a gateway to other good resources I believe. However the book of Enoch wasn't considered as part of the old testament canon even in the time of Jesus. But the disciples (at least Jude, I remember) made a reference to a part of Enoch. This shows it was being read in some form. But not as part of the Scripture. Just like the Apocrypha (not considered canon)

    God uses the foolish thing of the earth to confined that people that think they know it all. If you actually had a relationship with father and you asked him to take you to the library of heaven he would show you the library of heaven. You can do that if you want to. This is based on relationship versus Pharisees. The Bible has already been changed from the very beginning it's actually being returned to original poem father taught an Aramaic and in Greek not idolizing one translation because we can learn from all of them but I really didn't discover a passion for reading the Bible again for me until really reading the passion translation however that's just my testimony. I have heard many people get caught up to the library of heaven including Kat Kerr who has seen all the books that have not been written in heaven there's not the scripture say if the whole Bible would to be written there are not enough books to contain it in the world. However that's okay for criticizers for they will not partake in the new thing that father is doing if they continue to criticize they will be sitting on the back while the sons of God will be walking into the new thing that father is doing. Come on my brothers and sisters he is doing a new thing ask him right now that you want to take part in it so you can see it for yourself and stop listening to others opinions

    I'm curious about translations into languages other than - how about that - English - and there should be NT into all languages of the Earth, what are they translated from ? Some of the NT is originally written in Aramaic. You have the Amplified Bible that gives all the possible meanings. It's easy to think how a committee would pick the best word out of several. Just thoughts here, since Simmons often describes sources of particular named manuscripts, and names other translation possibilities very specifically, with respect, and he states why he chose the words he did. Even if we have a different discernment. Is every English translation perfect ? Is every translation into other languages perfect ? I am glad that Simmons translated into several indigenous languages where he and wife were missionaries over decades, I am glad people groups have scripture and are now saved who otherwise would not hear the gospel because a committee was not available for them.

    There's some things in newer translations where they replace, "faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen". That reading is from older translations there are word for word instead of thought for thought. But newer translations say, "faith is the assurance". Wait, is faith a feeling, or is it actually substance, and just that, with our physical eyes we can't see what exists? We don't receive the promised of God by feeling them in our heart. Were receive the promises of God through faith and patience. I think that the passion translation is a paraphrase that should have an original intent always alongside it, in order to correct it. I've beard women say, "it's my favorite, I can hear my Father's heart speaking". Well, maybe He is able to speak through the parts that are accurate, as all transactions will do that. See better than others and others worse. God works alongside us. But these women just replace their main Bible with this bible. Forgive me for being blunt, but, these women need to act more like men and stop always living by their feelings. Get over yourself and pick up a real Bible. That's what faith really is. What this guy, who started writing the passion translation, should have done, is just write it as commentary. I get downloads and stuff right from God because I common, I have the Same Holy Spirit to help me understand what He has already written in the Bible. But I'm not going to rewrite what the Bible says. I will not replace the Scripture. Right now, I am writing an entire commentary to the new testament, and it is beautiful what God is showing me. I personally just stick with a kjv. Its awesome.

    The KJV is the closest translation (if now the original to Hebrew). Isn’t it funny how when we go to college, we read the material exactly as it’s given to us we don’t look for other translations we just do it, and we learned it the way that they want us to. However, when it comes to the Bible, we always have to find something “new“. The truth is, all these translations take out certain words, which completely change the meaning of scripture. Those without discernment, see it as just words, but when you take time to truly study the Bible, you see how different words can change the entire meaning of a message; yes, just one or two words can completely throw off everything

    You need to check into the author of the message so-called Bible. He also is not trained in the biblical languages. One of my sources for this assertion is Pastor Mike Winger.

    Tyndale's translation of the N.T., the Geneva Bible, and the KJV are better and more accurate in every way than anything since.

    No, for a very simple reason. The English language has changed over the last 500 years where the KJV in many instances is no longer a good translation. A great example of this is the word wait. in 1611 no used this word to describe a passive waiting, like waiting at the bus stop. The English word wait comes from the (I believe old french) word waiter. A good waiter does not stand around but waits upon their tables. So the phrase "those who wait upon the Lord will renew their strength", in 1611, would never have been understood as a passive form of waiting but more as an active form of serving. In 2020 a much better translation would be "those who serve the Lord will renew their strength". Unless you use the English language exactly as they did in 1611 the KJV is a horrible translation for 2020 and it was a bad translation really by the early 1800s because the langue had already changed so much.

    In Galatians 3:19 Paul does change something the Bible said. Paul writes in Galatians 3:19 the Torah, the Jewish Law was given to Moses by angels. In the Bible we read that Moses gave the Law to the Jews. In the Bible we read that God gave the law to Moses. Paul has a lot answering to do here because in the Bible Jesus said Christians have to follow the law given by God to Moses. And Paul said that Christians should forget the law given by God to Moses. Its a problem, you know.

    Most Analytical people are perfectionists that usually only study the Bible with their mind. Inspirational People like writers, psalmist, musicians, artists and dancers are usually more connected and studying God’s out their spirit in relationship union with Ruah Ha Kadosh.- Holy Spirit. So let the God-gifted Analyst have the KJV and the inspirational people have the TPT
