My uncle always told me that horses can feel a single fly on them, so they will feel anything you do or tell them. A lot of ppl are rough with them and it really only takes a small amount of correction to get them to do what you want. Also.. if they do something wrong, it's because you told them to. They are responding to what you are asking. So make sure not to confuse them with your signals or actions🥰

I'm actually just saying what my uncle said while i was growing up. A lot of ppl that are not fully in the the horse community will squeeze their legs because they are holding on and scared and the horse will react to it. (Just like you showed.) So the person is yelling stop or slow down when you are showing them a different signal they may associate with something else. This wasn't meant to teach a horse trainer. It was saying .. hey this is the thing I remember, I was told to be aware of my own actions. 100% of the time...no, a professional will know better of course.

I currently have 2 horses and one of them is completely bitless and I just ride her in her halter because she reacts better to it. I also sometimes ride her bareback but recently I bought her an English saddle with and extra pad for sway back because she’s old. She’s almost 30 but still loves to go for trail rides and has plenty of up and go she’s just getting a little crunchy lol. I want to get my other horse completely bitless too but she’s a handful and I’m still working on her training because her old owners had no idea what they were doing and messed her up in more ways than one.

Train them firmly but very gently. Horses are intelligent and will remember if people are mean to them. Make sure they always have plenty of food and water. If you are new to owning a horse, ask experienced farmers or veterinarian for help. They are gentle but powerful animals. Playing soft music that has a nice melody will help keep them calm while training. I've seen videos where a girl playing a violin & cattle came to fence next to girl to enjoy music

Horses are incredibly sensitive animals, who actually have more nerve endings in their skin than we do. The reason they seem so tough is because as prey animals they hide pain and injuries to not appear vulnerable to predators. Just because they dont cry or yelp like a dog doesnt mean they arent in great pain.

Remember each one has their own personality so what may work great for one may not work at all for another. If you show them that YOU are the boss & that YOU will always have their back (no pun intended) & show them love, kindness, & a strict attitude towards disobedience as their leader, you will end up with some amazing horses!

I dont think "dominating them" is the right term for this. I think there needs to be a balance between being strict and loving. You obviously don't want your horse becoming a spoiled demanding brat but its still okay to be a friend to them and love them. I kinda like to think of it as a parent-child relationship, parents don't dominate their kids they lead them and teach them and love them. Once you have their respect and trust then the sky's the limit. 🥰

All you need to do is watch the way a lead mare acts in a herd. She dominates them. Just like in a pack of wolves/dogs the alpha does the same. That is different than cruel. If a horse is stepping on you and getting in your personal space you back them off with assertiveness. You dont ASK, YOU TELL. Them give them a bit of praise for listening. Pressure and release.

A leader shouldn’t “dominate” that mindset has been proven to be wrong. A leader should be someone the horse looks to for guidance, not someone the horse should be scared of making mistakes around. If your horse is being pushy that’s on YOU not them because YOU have not showed them right from wrong, you just get Pissed at them and expect them to understand. And why is it that you people are so against giving your horse a reward? Why are you so against giving your horse a reason to WANT to do what you ask rather then have them do what you want in fear of your actions.

When I was a kid, my buddies had some horses they had grown up with. Their parents got them as fillies when the kids were very young, and they grew up with the horses. We could stand behind those horses, play with their tail, pull on em, anything. They would NEVER hurt one of us. When my buddy has broken his arm, his girl (her name was Pony) would put her head between his legs, and lift him up so he would slide down onto her back. Amazing creatures, and incredibly intelligent. Pisses me off when someone is super rough on a horse, it’s just not necessary.

I agree with everything except the second, my horse is my best friend and we are super give and take. She kinda keeps you on your toes because if you are doing something wrong and keep pushing without asking correctly she will lay you out but if you set her up right she gives everything she’s got. I know it’s not for everyone but personally I love that sort of attitude because I know when I’m doing good or bad.
