3 REASONS WHY THE DYNA IS THE BEST FIRST MOTORCYCLE

Фильм және анимация

The Dyna platform was one of the most versatile and beloved model families Harley has ever made. Even though H-D axed the Dyna in 2017, I think they're still the very best first motorcycle anyone could own.

My first bike was a 2017 Street Bob with 300 miles on it(in 2020 too!) it has 20,000 miles on it now and I love that bike. When I drove it off the lot it was literally the first time I had ever ridden a motorcycle up to then I'd only ridden four wheelers but I got it home! here's to 100,000 more miles! Dyna 4 life!

I threw a 200 wide rear and 90/90 front on mine and gained about 10 mph in corners. Fills the rear fender and I think looks much better. I am a short fat fuck, Had to add a decent seat, rotated the forward controls back about an inch, and some drag bars with more pull back than stock for my trex arms and I can crush more miles than my friends on full baggers, get your rider triangle dialed on any bike and its golden. I reached early middle age so maybe I am just getting old, but riding a slow bike fast has gotten to be way more fun than having some hot rod shit with 3 or 4 gears you never see unless on a sanctioned track.

@@Lee-cz7ht fyi it drastically changes the handling characteristics of the bike, turns into a turn much slower, but feels locked into the turn when in it, and again comes out of the turn very slow. Wide glide is no corner monster anyway and I got used to it quickly, but it is different feeling. I noticed a lot more stability and 5-10mph gain in corners that I drive every day on the way to work. Its all subjective, but for me the trade off in handling for a bike that wasnt meant to handle like a dream is worth the look and stance you get from bigger tires, it wont be for everyone, but it put a smile on my face.

My first ever Harley-Davidson is a new to me '94 Dyna Wide Glide with the Evo 80, only bigger Harley engine besides the Sportster 1200 I will ever consider owning. I like simple and carbureted. It's my first V-Twin had a new knockoff CV carb installed on it that was missing some inlets and ran like garbage with a nasty lean spit. In the process of rebuilding the original so it's running correctly, I may jet it a bit higher if necessary. I found another V-Twin shortly afterwards that I'd always wanted which is a rare 2 year run 1986 Honda Shadow VT1100C which runs like a top but I need to do some work to the cooling system, it has a leaking upper radiator hose which is unobtanium. I will do a full on cooling system redo probably with customer made hoses and maybe just buy a new fuel pump and water pump as spares for now. It has new tires as compared to the 6 year old tires on the Dyna which I will change myself and balance myself. These aren't my first cruiser bikes, I've had an '82 Yamaha XJ1100J MAXIM for decades and I just landed another one that's extremely clean. Got a down payment on it to hold it and will make the nearly 400 mile round trip to go pick it up by the week's end. I haven't ridden much for years and I have the bike bug again hard and plan to tour all over with any and all of these bikes.

My first bike was a Yamaha V Star 650. It was given to me so only a fool would say no. My second bike? An '04 Fat Boy, whoa!!! What a difference! The second I sat on it I knew what it was about Harley Davidson's that make them the best. The solid and heavy feel made it feel balanced and planted in a great way. And then I started it... I heard and felt the power of that 88 and I realized, this is it, ain't gonna be nothing but Harley Davidsons (I never forget Mr. Davidson) from now on. I gave that to my stepson and now own an '07 Road King. By the way, he burned rice for many years and didn't think he'd like a HD but his first ride on that Fat Boy made him a Harley Davidson man for life! So, next bike in line will be a Dyna Wide Glide which to be honest is I think the best looking bike ever. And the 103 is the Twin Cam with all the bugs worked out.

I would never purchase a Duna personally. The model was cancelled because there were too many design flaws that couldn't be fixed without completely revamping the bike. My best guess is that the new 2021 custom is it's replacement. As far as apehangers go, the most ergonomic position (speaking from a design perspective) is at or just below shoulder height. When you get above shoulder level, blood has to move uphill to reach the hands which with many will cause numbness in the hands. If you get too low you risk carpal tunnel from stretching the wrist position.

That is certainly not a first bike for a beginner not by any means. A nice used cheap Japanese motorcycle is a much better choice and you know that. A beginner is not going to drop 10 or $12,000 on a used Harley. Especially something they are going to drop in the first six months of operation cuz everyone does that's how you learn.

@@TheTwoWheeledTeacher that's a good price for a Harley but a beginner who's never ridden a motorcycle who is going to learn who's going to make mistakes is going to fall down the last thing he wants is a $7,000 motorcycle that he is going to drop on the ground. A nice used Japanese motorcycle for them to learn how to ride on and then once they become proficient in their riding skills and have a couple of years of experience under their belt then maybe they can go up to a used Harley. Plus a bike under 900cc has much cheaper Insurance than one above 900cc especially for a beginner.

@@frankmarkovcijr5459 Your comments represent just your personal opinion, and you know that!! I'm a perfect example to proof a Wide Glide is the best first motorcycle / Harley to ride - because mine is a 2014 FXDWG, I'm absolutely happy with her in every sense! Oh, and to mention it, I never dropped her! If you're not able to keep your motorcycle upright, it's just your incapability! But that doesn't mean, that every beginner will drop the first motorcycle for shure! Especially if the first motorcycle wasn't cheap, you will be even more careful!

@@IvoryElvenson any big motorcycle is not a good beginners motorcycle. Like the saying goes there are two kinds of riders those who have been down and those who will go down and that is the truth. Everyone makes errors when they first learn how to ride and that's how they learn. A twin cam needs $10,000 worth of mechanical work replacing everything from the crankshaft all the way up as well as half of the things in the primary in order to make it reliable. I could go on about the shopping list of cheap crap that is in a twin cam motor but there are enough videos at already attest to that fact. If we had tiered licensing horsepower restrictions for new writers your Harley would not even be considered. Your argument is akin to saying 747 is a good plane to learn how to fly on. If a Harley was such a good beginners bike why do they not use big harlie's in beginner motorcycle riding classes. They don't because they are not. You people amaze me in the extent of your ignorance.

Buddy my current 103 twin cam has 56,000 miles on it and I haven’t replaced a damn thing in either case. It’s as reliable as any Japanese build. My first bike was a Dyna 96 twin cam and I did 15k on that bike before getting my street glide. The Dyna allowed me to learn how to ride in town, stop to stop, very well and safely. It also allowed me to do some interstate riding, including two trips of over 1000 miles. I learned how to do oil changes and how to change brakes and brake lines and a clutch cable and adjustment. The Dyna was a fantastic first motorcycle and again, despite your silly arguments, I stand by the claim that it would be a great first bike for anyone who wants to ride cruisers.
