3 FREE Tools You NEED To Grow On Twitch!

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Growing on Twitch is difficult, but there are a lot of tools being added daily that you can use to make it easier!
Twitch has added the brand new Goals Widget for both non-affiliates and Affiliates, as well as the new Ads Manager Tool to help control Pre-Roll ads better.
We'll be covering exactly how you can use these tools to grow your stream today, while also revealing my secret to using the Stream Marker and Clip That tools!

How To Use The Twitch Ads Manager
The new feature is called the Ads Manager, and it essentially replaces the manual run ads quick action widgets.
To find out if you’ve got it, head to Creator Dashboard then click Affiliate / Partner in my case then Scroll down to Ads Manager. Make sure you’ve got Disable preroll ads turned on.
Then click the Ad Manager, you can schedule your ad spacing, meaning how often ads play, change the ad length so 30 seconds is 1 ad and that turns pre-rolls off for 10 minutes, 90 seconds or 3 ads is 30 minutes of pre-rolls off. These two tools need to be balanced carefully, personally, I am setting mine to 60 - 90 seconds every 45 minutes to an hour, but find what works for you, then you can set a delay, you’ll want this delay to be as short as possible.

How To Use The New Twitch Goal Widget?
Head to your Stream Dashboard, go to your Quick action tools on the right, and click the Plus button, you’ll search goals, and add it to your buttons.
Next click the button, and you’ll be met with the ability to start a goal, you can select Goal Type, so Subscriptions or Follows, set a description for what the goals aim is, and edit the overall goal.
Once that is done, you can start the goal and it will run across the top of chat much like a hype train or community channel point challenge, whenever someone subscribes or follows the goal will go by again and tell everyone where you’re up to, BUT the part I think is so much more valuable is how it appears in Twitch chat.
The style of this video is similar to Alpha Gaming and Gaming Careers in parts. A large influence on this series has come from content creators like Wild4games and Nutty.

@@supposedlygreg If you run a 3 minute ad, every hour, you'll only stop pre rolls for the 30 minutes after the 3 minutes runs. Then they'll have 30 minutes of pre-rolls. As I said, 90 seconds is the max and does 30 minutes at a time unless you glitch it as I showed at the very start of a stream. People won't see midrolls that you run if they are subs or just viewed a Pre-roll in full as well.

Having been watching your videos and utilizing them for the last 10 days or so, I've blown that out of the park at a whooping 53 followers AND twitch affiliate already. I want to thank you, sooooo much for these videos. They. Are. Amazing. And YOU sir. Should be proud. Here's to hoping I can catch you live eventually. CHEERS 🍻 MATE!

I followed the directions yesterday for how to set up ads and ran ads at the start of my stream before people came into chat and then whenever I took a quick bio break, and it worked perfectly! Not sure if it was a coincidence, but I had a lot more new people in chat last night from the browse page. Perhaps because they didn't get a preroll ad? Thank you for this video, Eljay, so helpful!

I never knew you could turn off pre-rolls for mid rolls instead- and I’ve been streaming for almost two years. It’s disheartening to think of all the lost potential viewers, but I appreciate you for spreading this information! Wish twitch themselves would make their content creators aware of this feature though.

Hey Eljay! Thank you so much for all of these videos. Each and everyone of them has served as an inspiration and drive to make my streams as best as they can be. I look forward to what you have to say every week. I have been streaming for 3 days and I have gotten feedback I owe to you. Sound, presentation, and confidence on the mic. Currently sitting at 26 followers after 3 days of streaming, a lot more than I ever thought. Got my short term goal of Affiliate, long term goal of partner, and overarching goal of making better and better content. Going to be adding that follower goal to my streams now since I noticed that I got a burst of follows when I reminded viewers. That widget will help make those reminders for me. Thanks!

Having the ad manager has really helped me be more conscious of how long I’m sitting at my desk while streaming. Seeing an ad coming up and knowing I’m at a big part so it makes sense to take a break, go get water, go to the bathroom, just stand up and stretch for a bit, has been so increasingly helpful.

  • @k1tdunn

As a new streamer, I had been too scared to run ads, even though I knew they turned off pre-rolls. I hate ads myself and really downplayed the benefit. I ran maybe one or two during breaks on separate streams, but never consciously chose to work them in. This video talked me into trying it and WOW. You mentioned this, but I really couldn’t believe with the timed ad running 1 minute into my pre-stream after me manually running an ad that I seriously got over an HOUR of no pre-rolls! Only one or two people were there and they were subs so they never saw them anyway! Totally insane. If I hadn’t run a single other ad that stream, the ones at the start would have been worth it alone. Then I tried to run a 90 second ad once an hour or so when there was a lull in the gameplay. (Was happily surprised with how easy it was to snooze ads too during more exciting gameplay!) I had never really worked in breaks to my stream before so I actually felt way better at the end of stream as I took those breaks to mindfully check in with myself and hydrate, stretch, find a healthier speaking voice if I had been screaming too much, whatever I needed. On top of feeling less exhausted, knowing pre-rolls would be off for a bit just felt like a huge bonus. I also went to a BRB screen with music and did the multi action button on my stream deck that you suggested, and viewership did not dip once. Thanks Eljay! Always giving killer advice. Love all these videos but never commented, this one was just so immediately impactful that I had to share my hype and gratitude. Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!

@@QuantumKayos Sorry for just seeing this! I usually run a "pre-stream" screen for 5-10 minutes before I actually appear on stream. It says "stream starting soon" and I have music playing. While viewers are trickling into chat as my live notifications go out, my ads play and disable pre-roll ads before I actually start playing the game, and that guarantees that the entire first hour of gameplay is uninterrupted by ads for subs and non-subs alike!

A tip for clips and markers! You can still clip from the highlighter page with Alt+X. Clipping from the button in the dashboard just grabs 30sec of video but if you marker during the stream and clip afterward, then you can edit the clips and get better comedic timing OR make sure nothing got cut out from the clip. Granted this does take more time but it works best for me since I feel like I'm making more enticing clips to watch. I save highlights for longer sections that I want to save but if there is a short, less than a minute bit I want to be saved, I'll clip it after which precise editing.

JUST A QUICK HEADS UP ABOUT THE GOAL BAR! You CAN customize it through OBS/SLOBS. If you add a filter to it and mess with the saturation/hue settings, etc, you an get a decent result. You can use hue and saturation, but also a lot of users don't have PCs that can handle filters and barely handle streaming, so I'm hesitant to recommend it to most. I'd much rather Twitch just flesh out the feature so it doesn't add extra resources. :) Hope the videos continue to help! 100k should be in roughly a month, pretty excited! :)

I take an intentional break every 30 minutes during my streams. Before the break I let chat know we are taking a quick stretch/snack break. I’ve made several custom brb videos that play a compilation of my TikTok videos. My viewers love my brb videos. I play a different one every break so they are not seeing the same content repeatedly. I also set an auto action to run a 90 second ad to disable pre-rolls. So far since doing this for almost 2 months I rarely ever lose any viewers during my breaks. And as mentioned I break every half hour and run ads. I don’t do it for the money but I have noticed an increase in my ad revenue. I now average about $10 a month from ads. But my sole motivation for running the ads though is just to disable pre-rolls during the duration of the stream.

Well made as usual, thank you! A question since the twitch goal scrolls on chat when you activate it, would new viewers not see that scroll? Or would that animation play for only them when they join?

  • @StreamScheme

New viewers will see it again when you reach certain stages of the goal (halfway, one quarter, etc), or if big events happen. Its why they on screen widget comes with it to help make it clear.

One of the best recent videos for me personally! Hands down!! Yesterday I've spent researching for disabling pre-roll ads that I wasn't aware of (since I thought I could simply turn off ads) thanks to one of my viewers who told me in the chat they had to sit through an ad to watch me (big love for that guy) And then I've started researching for around an hour on both twitch streaming site, twitch support and the reddit sites to find my answers. In this video, you just confirmed my hypothesis and I've learnt a little bit more! I saw the schedules and thought myself to include it. Thank you Eljay for the detailed explanation 💗🤝 Edit: i forgot the superfragawhateverferocious beautiful video xD sorry I'm so bad at it hahaha

The follower goal seems useful in other ways too. If "someone" is frequently following-unfollowing. They're probably one of those dirty bots (although, I haven't noticed them in a while, thankfully) While it might be spammy in the middle of the stream, it gives you (or a mod) all the more reason to report it. Has anyone had any trouble with them recently?

  • @StreamScheme

The HOSS bots stopped, whether it is a coincidence who knows, BUT they stopped the same day and around the same time that the original HOSS said they were giving up and not coming back to streaming. Essentially, turns out the bots were created and named after 2 - 3 individuals, and used to ruin their name, as well as get their accounts banned. When one of them admitted they were leaving for good... the bots just stopped? Very odd situation honestly, who knows.

Thank you so much for the ad break info, who knew they would stack! I really like the new goal manager on twitch, honestly! Especially for communities where the emotes are a huge part of the culture and you're already out of BTTV slots. I don't think I'll use the on screen goal yet, though, 'cause OBS might actually try to kill me if I add yet another browser source... Also, bold of you to assume I could even spell supercalifragilisticexpialidocious, but I guess that's why we have captions!

Thank you man for this! Problem originally is, without fiddling, I couldn't even tell when ads were running or even if! I've often had a weird feeling like "there's 10 people in here from somewhere, but no one's saying anything" and it was probably ads holding them back! Appreciate it and I see you on Twitch recommended all the time!
