Car in Front is a pre refresh Tesla Model 3 Performance which is fully stock. The driver is racing in RCN and has over 400 laps experience on the Nordschleife.

2021 Model 3 Performance refresh/ facelift version
Stock car with standard suspension on RFK GLS 303 Wheels (9x20 front and 10,5x20 rear) with 245/35 ZR20 and 285/30 ZR20 Michelin Cup 2 Semi Slicks with stock alignment
Tire preassure hot:
2,8 bar/ 42 psi front
2,7 bar/ 40,5 psi rear
Front mud flaps removed because they touched the track in compression zones Tiergarten and Fuchsröhre/ Foxhole

    One of your best videos from the Nordschleife, Niko. What I noticed: You seem to have braked or regened later than him, but he accelerated more quickly than you out of the curve. Best, Michael

    This is excellent content Niko! Probably the best video of the TM3P on The Ring as you see how it behaves FROM BEHIND. Super. I have a question regarding the wear of your brakes and the stock tyres that you had before the Cup2s - can you comment on how many laps you have done and what wear have you observed/measured? And haven't you boiled the break fluid? I took mine for a track day (full stock) and now the brake pedal is quite spongy... Keep up the great work!

    Hi, I am not very hard on the brakes and I use 100% regen most of the time (nearly every time). But if you push them too hard the pedal gets "long", so the brake fluid is way too hot. The standard pads are made for 450 degree celcius, race brake pads are made for 1000 degrees celcius and above. I think it would make sense to upgrade to Endless or Carbotech pads when dirving on GP track or Nordschleife without Regen. What I further do is to never go into park after a fast stint. The brake pads are melting together with the discs otherwise. I did ~ 50 laps on the standard Pirelli P-Zeros until they were gone. Brake Pads are still stock and still the first ones, rougly 30% left after 60+ laps and 10.000 Kilometers (6,250 miles).

    @@nikoontrack1173 würdest du es für möglich halten, dass ein Tesla irgendwann (2-3 Jahre?) auf Nürburgring einen Rekord aufstellen wird, indem das Auto voll autom über den Ring ballert?

    @@RealRusty Das ist eine sehr coole Idee und ich hatte auch ähnliches vor. Meine Idee war es, dass ich abends als letzter auf die Nordschleife fahre, ohne Track Modus und im Autopiloten ihn eine langsame Runde fahren lasse. Das Problem aktuell ist, dass die Strecke nicht durchgehend weiße Linien links und rechts hat. Sogar ziemlich am Anfang (direkt nach der Hohenrain Schikane) käme er glaube ich nicht mehr klar. Also das aktuelle System (Standard Autopilot in DE) das ich kenne könnte das heute noch nicht. Ich war aber vor ein paar Jahren (ich meine 2019) beim Festival of Speed in Goodwood und dort gab es ein RoboRace, die Rennstrecke (ist ein Bergrennen) wurde damals von vollautonomen Autos gefahren.     Hi Dave, the driver is a professional racing driver, so he is "okay" with beeing followed so closely and we both know the track and brake points very well. But you are right it would be considered rude if you don´t know each other.

    Hey! Great video as always! Is it me or did your battery last longer and didn’t get warm the whole lap? Since you were following a stock M3P you were not driving as hard? What I’ve also noticed in this video and the cayman video is you’re not shuffling your hands as much on the steering wheel? I want to say you use to shuffle more before? Always keep up the great videos!

    Hi, thanks! It was colder this day, we had a yellow phase and I was in advantage because of the semi slick tires so I could let the car more roll (even with 100% regen on). The racing driver in front was pushing 100% and I did 95%ish :-D

    Nice Video Niko, Have you noticed any track stability intervention during high G corners? it seems there is sugnificant System break interference as car is not holding smooth racing line and is wiggling a bit. would be great to know your comments.

    Hi, I have stability control on "-10" so it is as off as possible and it is off, as you can see me drifting in other videos. The car infront of me had "-9" and I think thats why his brakes got so hot. The only time I still can feel intervention from the car is when accelerating out of the corneres, sometimes the power is limited until the steering angle is smaller, beside that I cannot feel any intervention on power or brakes. Hope that helps :-)

    @@nikoontrack1173 Thank you, I am having hard time with modified M3P, with negative camber and FUCAs, lower suspention i found it scary to go through some corners in Yas Marina Abu Dhabi or Dubai Autodrom, as it is limiting power during exit and applying breaks in Apex. the solution i found is MPP party box, looking to install it soon and tryout.

    yes it was set to 100% regen. Don´t know why it is not shown on the display (maybe the camera did not made it to make it visible) but I turned it on and I felt the car regen as usual in my track mode setting for sure.

    Bin die Teslas noch nicht gefahren aber sind die nicht bissl fett? Ich meine 1800kg ? Mein Swift Sport wiegt die Hälfte und fliegt durch die Kurven gefühlt^^

    Hi Markus, ansich geb ich dir da völlig recht. Ich komme aus der Rennkart Ecke (85kg 45PS TM KZ 6 Gang Schalter) und dagegen sind Lotus Super7 Caterham und co ja mit 500kg schon Panzer. Und ich habe mich auch immer gesträubt gegen den Gedanken so einen Panzer mit 1850kg über die Schleife zu pushen. Mittlerweile sind alle neuen Autos die vergleichbar sind (Allrad + 500PS) und nicht mehr als das doppelte wie der Tesla kosten (also unter 100k€ bleiben der neue M4 Competition, Nissan GTR und co) alle genauso schwer, sogar der viel kleinere M2Competition von nem Freund wiegt knapp 1,7 Tonnen mit DSG. Das einmal zur Einordnung. Was aber beim Tesla viel besser ist ist der Schwerpunkt, die Batterie ist wie ein Skateboard ganz unten im Auto und die Gewichtsverteilung ist auch ganz genau 50/50. Das sind die großen Vorteile und so erkläre ich mir auch wieso das Gesamtpaket so gut funktioniert. Der lange Radstand hilft dann noch bei den Highspeed passagen und bei den vielen Unfällen am Ring in letzter Zeit bin ich ganz happy nicht im Ariel Atom oder Radical SR3 SL zu sitzen auch wenn ich da bock drauf hätte ;-) Meld dich gerne mal wenn du am Ring bist, vielleicht sieht man sich vor Ort und viel Spaß weiter mit deinem Suzuki 💪!

    Yes, it is a wrong adjustment of front side windows. Next time I am at Tesla Service center they reajust the windows and it should be gone :-)

    Hi, it says "track mode activated". The singular beep is from an app which i use for lap timing (Harrys Laptimer)

    @@nikoontrack1173 So Niko you can't coast? did it take a while for you to get used to this coming from an ICE and coasting/taking foot off gas pedal? and in traffic, you are used to this setting?

    @@specter290 Hey specter, yes I need to get used to it but it didn´t took long. If you want to coast you need to lift throttle but not fully, maybe 85-90% otherwise regen kicks in and car decelerates. But the transition is kind of smooth if you lift off slowly at the end so I can by lifting a lot but not fully. Hope that was understandable :-) It would be of course easier to set regen to 0% but this would wear the brakes very fast and I like the efficiency about it and meanwhile I am fully used to it and if I drive an ICE car I am wondering why it is not working :-D

    da wird einem erstmal richtig bewusst, wie schwammig das Fahrwerk (HA) des M3 ist. Das wankt ja wie ein Fischkutter auf See. Was ist eigentlich dieser Piepen? zB 6:43 btw. schon mal die Achseinstellung kontrollieren lassen?

    Das ist mein Laptimer (die App heißt Harrys Laptimer), die piept bei jedem Sektor der Nordschleife Achseinstellung meinst du Vorspur/ Nachspur bzw. Sturz also Vermessung? Nein das habe ich nicht, die Reifen sind sehr gut abgelaufen, innen etwas mehr so wie es sein soll. Aber wenn mal ein anderes Fahrwerk reinkommt wird das natürlich gemacht :-)
