@@_duncan_2001_ No, hp means either mechanical horsepower (~746 W) or metric horsepower (~735 W, also written as PS, KM, cv, hk, pk, ks, and ch). bhp just means horsepower measured by a brake dyno. In order to avoid confusion (which occurs VERY frequently), it is best to refer to mechanical (Britain, USA etc.) horsepower as "hp" and to metric (continental Europe, Japan etc.) horsepower as "PS". That way, it is clear which definition of horsepower is meant.

I went for a ride today and I can say the car has great power, but the way it brakes and turns is even more surprising...the gearbox feels awesome too. 😍

This car is something special. Definitely a modern-day classic. Great driving, great car, great weather and great roads equals the perfect day. This car is proof positive Toyota knows how to make a proper 6 speed manual gear box. Definitely looking forward to the GR Corolla and wondering when Toyota will give us a manual in the Supra.

There are aftermarket transmissions for the supra. They are cheaper than most transmissions and still good quality

@@JK-xo9wm Just got word that Toyota is finally releasing the Supra in a manual and just in time to go head to head with the new Nissan Z. Sadly, the other car missing from the trinity of great JDM sports cars from the 90s is the Mazda RX7. RIP RX7. In the very least we get to enjoy a modern RWD, 6-speed manual version of the Toyota Supra and Nissan Z for one last time. I am desperately trying to work the numbers to get one before they are gone.

This engine has quite a potential apparently. Motive garage has tuned it to 500hp on stock internals. At 350hp this thing must rip. Even the stock is fast.

Yes, 500 hp for five minutes... People shouldn't be silly. 1.6 is 1.6. A road car should handle everything you throw at it, for ages, not fail in a moment. So, anything above e.g. 323 PS (200 PS/litre) is stupid.

I had a Mark 1 Golf GTI back in the early to mid eighties when i was in my early twenties. I loved it`s power and handling abilities back then and this baby from Toyota is the most iconic super hatch to appear since my Mark 1 Golf GTI, also the 1.9 Peugeot GTI was a legend too. I would love a spin in this new Hot Hatch.

Only a few people, only the legend people know this car!! And know how fun this car is!!! So much respect for you Max AutoTopNL for actually reviewing this!! It's not many of you!!

Judging from the teasers Toyota is sending out, the Corolla will get the GR Yaris engine and therefore likely the AWD system aswell.

The very disappointing thing is is that car will have the same engine, which is great in this car but in a 200kg heavier car it will not be able to live with the golf r etc

In Romania stage 1 is on a lot of cars, especially diesels. As long as the car looks normal and the police doesn't have a reason to stop you, you're fine here.

Its more of a mix between a five and a six cylinder......not really comparable with other engines out there. But you would have to add an aftermarket exhaust to get this sound....like the Milltek for example.

A reason isn't understood, but GR Yaris isn't sold in North America. Toyota sold Yaris GRMN only in Japan in January. 500 of production number is limitation. GRMN is light-weight more than before. The vehicle height is lower. A fender projected and the car width spread more. An interior liquid crystal screen has been taken. The engine power is same. That's 63,000 US dollars. I can't understand why Toyota doesn't sell this in the world.

Can the tuning hurt other components? No, not at all. GR-FOUR AWD is designed to withstand up to 900Nm of torque, meaning technically even if you swap the engine with AMG 4.0L TTV8, it will still not break.

max, you got it wrong on the torque. The stock torque is 360/370nm (depending on the market). Racechip rates their chip to 440nm.
