Now as a owner of a Red GR in aus but a base one not the Rallye. I can say what a car plus a aussie review has hit 0 to 100km in 4.8 and 1/4 in 13.12. Stock. Very fast car for what it has under the hood. Go TOYOTA. 😎😊

Saw that review. Very impressive. The Aussie cars, like the Japanese cars, have a bit more power (8kw/10nm) than the Euro ones as the don’t have the GPF/OPF. Doesn’t sound like much but in a small/light car, adds up quickly.

When the ECU gets cracked and my warranty ends will do some light mods. New Exhaust for well a sound lol. New air filter and new Intake. ECU stage 1 tune. Say 310HP enough for this mini beast. PS Will be getting my Brake calipers painted to Yellow soon with GR on them.😊

You also have to take into consideration that the GR Yaris needs two manual gearshifts to reach 100 Km/h! Which means this number is actually a bit misleading since you automatically compare it to other sports cars which in many cases only need one gearshift or are even dual clutch automatics. p.S. I have a red one myself with the Rally Pack (or as it's called where I live: the Circuit Pack).

Hyped for the new direction Toyota is talking with their GR Models. When I got interested in cars and racing a few years back I was told that Homologation Specials were a thing of the 1980s and 1990s. And here they are building and selling one in 2021!

That limiter reminds me of the limiters many cars had on GranTurismo 2 LOL!

Its like the JDM cars limiter for 180kmh, from the 90s, just rubbish.

Technically the GR Yaris will still have a rally pedigree with the birth of GR Yaris AP4 in Australia. Speaking of 0-100kmh, some journalists claim that they reach under 5s (stock) while a model in Australia reach sub 12s on the drag strip. In Japan, tuning companies like HKS & G Force already put those engines up to 400+hp, with both of them being faster than the stock Nismo GTR time.

I ordered this GR Yaris in tarmac black. Getting it delivered to Australia next year in April.

A 3-cylinder turbo sound's similar to a 12-cylinder Mercedes S600/S65 AMG in the same way a 5-cylinder sounds similar to a V-10. Not the same but similar. Mercedes V-12's have unequal length headers and therefore have that somewhat gruff, uneven sound to them. V-12's with equal length headers sound completely different, examples being any Ferrari V-12 or a Lamborghini V-12.

I doubt that it’s the most powerful 3 cylinder, doesn’t the koenigsegg gemera also have a 3 cylinder engine with like 600 horsepower?

Not a bad start for Toyota. It puts Mitsu to shame for discontinuing the Evo. Only weird thing about the car is, the rear fenders stick out father then the front. If they brought the front fenders out more to match the rears it would've looked a lot better IMO.

Can't call it good looking, the proportions are all suffer from any kind of existence, but cool little stinger, i cant help love this segment of cars. Growing up since the hothatch started without knowing it was one, think i was 13 and the GTI 110hp came out and wowed my face (most odd, cool and probly disturbing was that my old swedish teacher Martha Froman) suddenly showed up in a brand new Scirocco GTI twisted my head fully : ) ... and made me quit school. (Nah just kidding). A cpl of years later the absolutely underrated Opel GSI 160hp think 1.8L came out and i was asked to pick up a relatives car while he was away and then drive it back to the airport... idk if it was the first meeting with such a car as my economy kept me with weak tincans. But man the pull was silly, spinnin on third gear well over 120kmh and just kept on begging for more, dunno if it was tuned (but i doubt it) but both me and my best mate laughed uncontrollable, mind you this was about 1981 and we were young but he's first words still are fully remembered: hoo-ly F.... its like on TVeeeeee lol Love you Magnus and Tommie Mäkinen ♥ is a fav, swearing and the sheer look in hes eyes make things move out of the way sisu som fan! : )
