Hi Nigel, love watching you, have my own sewing channel, but do like to keep up with all the allotment stuff you do. I share one with my son-in-law, can't wait to move closer to him, so I can really get to work. I do all the seed growing, give advice, he does most of the work, with the help of my 8 year old grandson, we all work well together. Have a little tip for you, did you know when you get Blossom End Rot on pumpkins /Mellons all this sort of plant, it means the ground is not releasing the magnesium to the plant, it's locked up in the soil. All you have to do is dilute 4 tablespoons of Epsom Salt in a bucket of water, and water your plants. Take off rotted fruit first if it's gone too far. Im a organic gardeners. I know lots of things like this, my dad taught me when I was young. Retiring soon Gwen

The rain has been very welcoming Nigel and the fruit and vegetables are loving it more so the weeds.....🤣. The temperature fluctuations are a worry though, let's hope it settles down so we can get some sunshine on our legs. ♻️Happy gardening, Terry King.

All the hard work it worth it to me to get to see the new growth everyday brings me so much joy! i've got a few crimson crush, myself, this year. they were planted outside two weeks ago and have now doubled in size. because of the weather i'm getting far better results than i expected.........................brian

@@MuddyBootz I've still got Swede, celery, maybe some sweetcorn to put in at my allotment, if I can find a spot. 1st year of allotment, but a few years of gardening and some back garden veg growing under my belt. Best thing about plants and gardening is you're always learning something new. I've learned lots watching your videos.👍

I enjoyed that! My three favourite KZread channels are you, Castle Hill and Lazy Dog Farm. It’s funny but Lazy Dog Farm gives the exact opposite onion advice you do, he says onions are heavy feeders that need lots of nitrogen and you can’t have too much green growth! You both grow great onions so what’s a poor gardener to think 🤔 😅😂! I have been planting out tomatoes this long weekend too, I’m counting on mine for a years worth of tomato sauce! It was great to see that steam engine, what a machine! Klaus

Over half of my onions grown from sets have bolted - gutted!! Four different varieties. I think I may finally call it a day for using the sets, seeds in future for Digwell !! (subject to change at short notice 😂) Nice to see another Sir Nigel in the video LOL Have a great weekend buddy.

Put in 6 San Marzano plants today, grown from seed. Have 100+ Monastrell red onions, 100+ Ailsa Craig, and 100+ Patterson onions in and on the go all from seed. Will have to look into that rooting compound you use. TYFS

Another great video Nigel, you always manage to make things look so simple. By the way, you were almost correct about the world steam speed record. It was actually a locomotive by the name of 'Mallard' that created it but 'Sir Nigel Gresley', the loco you filmed, is a member of the same class. Keep up the good work.

Hello Derek… I don’t think I put that across too well🤣 …I should of added I think it was a speed record (112 mph) with a full train of passengers ??? 😄 As you mentioned MalIard was much faster and earlier to get the current steam world record I have only seen Mallard in York Railway Museum and not in full steam. I live not far from Bridgnorth (Severn Valley Railway) and they have some good locomotives visit quite often. Having been a Mechanical Engineer (Aerospace) all my life, I am just amazed at the genius of Nigel Gresley and the associations he had with both GNR & LNER 😇. Many thanks for watching 😄👍🏻

I am a life member of the Severn Valley Railway and was also a working volunteer for over 25 years until my arthritic hips brought me to a near standstill. During that time I worked all seven signal boxes on the line and also had a period as a Signalling Inspector. I thoroughly enjoy following your videos and invariably pick up knowledge and tips which I like to try out. Keep up the good work.

Here in France we chop nettles up and put them under the tomato roots when planting.

Love this video nigel! I have read the Robinson website and found it very interesting. Do you follow the advice with the jeys fluid? I've seen it used on lawns and it does seem to green them up but I'd be worried about killing our friends That live in the soil as it is a steriliser!

Hi Nigel another great video, looking into getting an allotment but in my area they don't alow you to use hosepipes ! Thinking this will make very hard work of things, how would you find that ? If it's to much work watering will probably just expand at home instead but I'm mainly in containers at the moment and want some beds. Thanks

Hello Jemma and welcome to the channel 😀 What water storage containers are allowed on the allotments? Wherever possible I would try to use am IBC tank. These will hold around 1000 litres and ir slight raised off the ground, will generate enough pressure to use a hose pipe by gravity pressure. Failing that the large blue circular plastic barrels are ideal. There are various ways to collect rain water to divert in into the containers.....do check what has been stored in the containers before using them. I have over 16,000ltrs of stored rain water on my allotment's and with some extra effort and roof space you will collect enough to keep your fruit and vegetables alive Jemma so don't be put off not having water as rain water is so much better for our plants even at home. ♻️Happy gardening, Terry King.

@@MuddyBootz Thanks Nigel great advice I always try and use rainwater where possible so love the ibc tank idea. I would have to find out as I think the plot is just a blank canvas so if it's allowed I will have to purchase one myself. Keep it up love your updates cheers.

Just comfrey, definitely not nitrogen as this will produce too much green leaf. Harvesting will be around 4-6 weeks time 😀 🌻🌻Nigel…………MuddyBootz Allotment🌻🌻
