There are actually 3 types of perfectionism: self-oriented, other-oriented, and socially prescribed. Socially prescribed perfectionism (having pressure from others to be perfect) described what causes perfectionism for some. But the theories on what causes perfectionism for self-and social-oriented perfectionist traits vary.

#19-breaking routine... I've been disheveled when my routine is broken. But I think it's because setting up and fine tuning my routine has been my primary goal and focus this year, as there's no rhythm in my circadian rhythm.💖🌞🌵😷

#22 - celebrate your wins. Here's my hack for this one... Break down your tasks sooo small that you get to check ✔️ it off your list. Get up ✔️. Drink coffee ✔️... (What? Coffee has water!) Take a shower ✔️. Get dressed✔️. Every check mark is a celebration! At the end of the day, there's 30 or 40 things... Even on Sunday when I stay in bed all day... There's 10-12 ✔️s... Which always surprises me, but I celebrate each baby step and not wait just to party at the end of a project. Celebrate the journey, not just the destination! 💖🌞🌵😷

@@TaraWagner, I used to do what you said, I'd look at the 30-40 ✔️ed off items and instead of celebrating them, I looked at the five things I didn't get to, because life happens and would beat myself up because I didn't get the five completed. And that feels really, really bad. ... So now I celebrate each ✔️ and look forward to get to completing them tomorrow. ... I'm much happier. 💖🌞🌵😷 p.s. the American Sign Language sign for applause is waving jazz hands by your face. The higher above your head you wave your hands the more emphasis. Raising your hands high above your head and letting your hands shake brings me exuberance. ... Here's a link and watch how the ladies' smiles get bigger! kzread.info/dash/bejne/l6V6x62jZsTdmLg.html

Thank you Tara!! I have noticed all but maybe 7 of them in me. But I could never trace them together or realise them in this structured manner before. I am learning to tell myself that perfectionism is a disorder and I want to get out of it. I am undergoing some turmoil in life as a 23 year old because it seems like from being an overachiever all my life, I don't see any goals next. But in my heart, I know I'm too scared to make the next big decision about what to study, where to study from - I am waiting/hoping/researching for a best 'answer' I'm never going to be able to find (I feel aware of that), but it still feels impossible to just make a freaking choice and move forward and face whatever the good and bad consequences of it are. Thank you so much for this video - you are just INCREDIBLE!

Great video, Tara. Thank you! I lost track of the number as I can relate to most of them. I look forward to your next video as I am aware this is holding me back and welcome suggestions on how to overcome. The 29 items helps to shine a light on the magnitude perfectionism can have on one's life.
