Don't get me wrong, I'm happy that there are more and more options for us to build out our keyboards. But 276,480 ways?! Is it a good thing or are we going too far now with choices? Variety is the spice of life? Or is it just making us more and more indecisive? You are here to find out!

Your videos are always the ones I look forward to the most. The combination of humor, in-depth information, science and top-notch production is perfect edutainment. Thank you so much for the effort you put into your work for all of us.

I have ditched all my keyboard subs with the exception of Keybored and Glarses. Got sick of the gimmicks and "humour" attempts or cringe *aesthetic* videos from the others.
i could listen to the QK 100 - pc plate - gasket mount - all foam no - flex pcb set up all day

Haha doesn't it sound crazy... All the options
Thank you for your work in making this review. I'm sure it took a long time to assemble, re-assemble, and test this board with all of the different components on top of filming and documenting all of it. This was a great review! Really might consider purchasing one after seeing all of the different combinations.
Scott, thank you for all your hard work. We all do appreciate it.

Glad to be of help!
Honestly this might be the best entry so far. My only problem with the board is that without foam the modifiers sound a little hollow but the alphas sound really nice even without foam.

Thanks so much for putting in all that work with this keyboard! I’m very interested in it as I’ve been in the market for a full size kb. Love the ever improving production quality also. The beginning was fun to watch 😁
Thanks for the super thorough review with all of the comparisons, really helpful! It was also comforting to hear that you enjoyed the foam sound as foam builds seem very looked down upon these days. :') Made me feel a little less insecure about having just chosen to build my QK80 with foams the other day!

In the 80s and 90s computers came with awesome keyboards, but my first 486 cost like 4000 bucks so I guess it had better come with a banging keyboard.

Just Pre-Ordered mine. Your video was extremely helpful especially for a newb like me. So excited!!!
The amount of work in this video is honestly astounding and all without sacrificing any quality in the actual video.
Love this vid! First I was thinking of gasket mt, flexcut PCB, POM but I kinda like your final build... too much to select and it is agonizing... lol!
Huge props for going through so many builds for the sound tests.
Thanks for showcasing all the options and possible build.. ❤❤❤.
That comment on indecisivness, "I don't know, I'm not even sure", trully got me laughing :). I feel that this is one of the best intros you have made to date.
For me, top mount really stood out for me in the acoustics department, seemed like things were a bit tighter without the need for foam. I think I'd probably go top mount with either Alu or FR4, non-flex cut wireless PCB, in Lavender with the white screen bezel and weight.
Buying a QK100 as I watch - thank you so much for this!

Awesome job Scott. You never disappoint. I can't imagine building that thing 10 times myself. Probably going to grow some corn on the fingers😅
i regret not getting a qk65 when it first launched. i’m NOT making the same mistake with this one!
Thanks again for another great review with so many configurations! Great switch choice (as usual) too! Great looking/sounding for the price but does seem to have some hollowness, especially without foam, but I bet plate foam would be a good in-between for this board.
@Keybored

Yup! The foam Def helps to even out the sound. I decided to put it into my build for sure
As always, your videos are the best in the hobby. Thanks for another great one. Replying to the KFA plug: second worst GB experience ive had so far. Updates are few and far between, and ive gotten two other GB boards since ordering my freebird. Probably faster than Maker but damn...

Thank you for all of your reviews, and especially thank you for strongly emphasizing that there's no "right" or "wrong" in the hobby and it's all about what each individual wants and likes. The importance of personal preference is so often overlooked, forgotten, or blatantly ignored by many custom keyboard enthusiasts. The hobby in general just isn't as niche or small as it used to be anymore, so I think it's really great if everyone could do their build(s) however they want without being judged or ridiculed Anyway, I'm actually not a big fan of any of these build combinations to be honest... the case just sounds way too hollow for me, even with all foams
@Keybored

Your build sound is great. Sounds like top mount but probably feels soft and nice like a gasket mount.
Love your work, and appreciate the effort put in. Really wish we could have heard the numpad though ❤

Can't wait for this board, thinking I might be a lazy bastard and go for the included switches + keycaps bundle this time lol. Does anyone know if that option arrives preassembled? And if so, which or any of the foams would be added? Fantastic video as usual ❤️

I have been waiting for a good 1800! Will def try and order this in 5 days. I will go with Anodized Red and Gold Weight, No Flex ANSI HotswapPCB, Golden Badge. Not sure what plate to go with. ALU, CF, POM, or FR4 :( I only have experience with ALU and Brass on my GMMK Pro and ALU on my Q5. Might just stick with ALU since I know it. Why does everyone seem to go FR4?

The all foam definitely was more pleasant to the ears. Appreciate you taking the time to do all of those combinations because I had considered the flex board and no foam thinking all I needed was a POM plate and I couldn't have been more wrong. Almost identical to your preferred build except I'm going with Kailh Box Black's using Cerakey's ceramic keys.
Do you feel like the flexcut pcb still had too much flex with all the foams installed?
What do you think between zoom65 EE v2 and qk100 ( not mention the layout ) about the build, sound, stock stab...
If the QK100 was southpaw, I’d buy it in an instant. I have a Gok 7v with a KBDPad on the left so I don’t collide my mouse onto the keyboard while playing.

Hello scott, i know my question is not related on this video but may be you can help me. Hmm I will have to look into that!
Great Video! Top quality from you as usual. A little sad there was no going over what the qk software is like. I have the qk80 wired non flex cut 1.2mm and so far via support is shakey / not working at all, and ended up using vial to make the changes i needed. And even then turning up and down the rgb had do be done wirh the weird hardcoded fn+f8 and not in the vial lighting tab (like my odin v2). So while the hardware is a banger, not a particularly high opinion of the qk firmware/software atm. Also looks like both features i am interested in, the flex cut and the screen, are limited to the tri-mode qk software pcbs (looks like wired is only no flex cut and badge only). Additionally, no word of the wired / non flex cut pcbs will have rgb like the qk80. Looks like you didnt go over it because the software isnt finished, but that's a real shame since imo that screen is taking up prime real estate (the 75% column instead of the keys above the numpad) and is a weird orientation (tall vs wide) and i wanted to know what they leveraged it for.
@Keybored
Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, the pcb I had needed qk config and it wasn't final when we received :(
@qwertykeys2119
Жыл бұрын
for qk80 - please turn on v2 definition in the design tab to enable; the hardcoded rgb is because vial does not support 2 led settings yet and our strip takes that spot already; wired pcb does have rgb as noted in the notion doc; the detail intro of screen is in the wireless build guide tft section as well - we did not request the software part to be included by any of the content creators; orientation is subjective and we just feel that the location between F12 and Delete is the hardest to reach (without looking and get it correct) hence the placement; hope these solve your questions
This is all good, but does the keyboard come with a backscratcher? 😂 Love your work, Scott!❤😅
