As much as I like your individual reviews, I do really like the comparison ones, it really helps put into perspective the different keyboards, especially for those of us looking at these keyboards and trying to better figure out what we want to invest in! I'm not about to have 20 keyboards, lol, have to be selective and when individual reviews tend to be very hype hype hype, it gets hard to understand what makes one different from another~! So thank you for this review! Is very helpful!

Thanks a lot for this video. We see lots of isolated reviews on specific recent boards but aggregating everything into a top for 1 usage / budget is VERY useful. I was in the process of merging info for a new board I'm looking into, so this video is both on point and on time for me!

i love the timing of this video esp considering these are entering or are in pre order! i also hellaaa enjoy this comparison bc it really hits so many details abt one board that might otherwise be too short a video for just an individual board on its own! i would like thi to see a shoobs style comparison where the builds are as similar as posisboe in terms of the switches and caps so we can get a one to one conparison in sound tests! esp if were using a comparison as a pseudo buyers guide

I finished the video and really appreciated it! I love this type of video because there are so newbies like me in Discord servers asking which GB's are worth getting in on based on our needs. A lot of people can't answer those questions because they don't have the boards yet. I highly reccomend continuing to do reviews like this. Perhaps you can have separate comparison reviews and individual reviews if people are wanting more in depth content? Or even a monthly comparison video with the GB's that are coming out that month.

Even if you like one of these more than the other, you have to admit that boards in this price range are significant improvements than boards in this price range in the past. We were amazed at the QK65 for what it brought for the price, same with the Frog TKL, and now, we're seeing real competition with the Neos and Cycles of the world. All for affordable kits! Thanks for the vid as always, Scott.

Thank you for this video! With the number of keyboards coming out nowadays, its getting harder to keep up with everything and this helps, so thank you! Although I do prefer the usual keybored style, that you do, but this is very nice as well. A suggestion would be maybe you can do more indepth for some keyboards that truly interests you, e.g. new mounts or design or sound, while the rest which are slightly more "clockwork" can be put through this summary, from the manu style. Thanks again for your videos! :)

Absolutely wild to see the progression of the hobby! I bought a Bubble 75 back in the day (probably $350ish) based on this channel’s recommendation, and now the MKC75 has a bigger weight at less than half the cost, great stuff!! This is my first time hearing of the Neo 65, I love gummy o ring, but am really sad it sounds like it was underwhelming in that board. My bakaneko60 is the board in my collection that I’ve spent the most time with, and I’d definitely love for more people to get to exposed to that mounting style (if well-implemented).

A few years ago when I bought my first non-prebuilt board I had sub 100 dollar budget and it seemed like the only two options for a full hotswap board were a GMMK or a GK61, so the idea of a full metal 65% with a weight for 80 dollars just shows how much the hobby has innovated in a couple of years.

I have it in mint with long pole tactiles and osume mochi mint caps and it not only sounds and feels amazing, it looks great. The fact that their groupbuys are all happening is really good for viewer looking to get one of these. A nice followup comparison would be something from the in-stock choices that are out there just to give folks an idea of what they might be sacrificing over waiting for a board. The Akko M1W, Leobog Hi75, and Xinmeng M71 seem to be the latest in stock competition.

@@jgould30 Creators are covering those boards but some that I mentioned are too new for creators outside of East Asia to cover them. I don't feel they really don't threaten these groupbuy boards... the groupbuys offer way more customization and choice than these products. While I enjoy those products for their availability, they are definitely not perfect and do have tradeoffs (the V65's low typing angle and crappy stabs), I feel it's still good to talk about them since no everyone can afford to wait or buy a more expensive groupbuy custom.

Used the bottom housing and leaf from the Durocks, then used the upper housing, stem, and spring from the Oil Kings. Resulted in a fast-actuating, smooth, heavy, deep-sounding switch with muted RGB. They do REQUIRE films due to the nature of fitting two different housings. Used Krytox 205g0. Can you make a few to show on the channel? they are truly something spectacular!

I like the concept of this video, but I don't quite agree with how the ranking/scoring system was implemented. I think it would be better to give them each an independent score because sometimes the gap between X and Y keyboard can be really tiny in one aspect, and huge in another. Making each delta always equal to 1 removes a lot of the nuance (and also, doesn't allow for ties) If you gave every board some arbitrary score out of 5 (which you could still isolate to the boards, switches etc. being compared where your favorite was 5 and the worst was 0 or 1, there would be a lot more room for comparisons in a hobby whose foundation is built on preference and small differences

@@noddy5 40-80€ unfortunately is the regular shippingrate to ship from US to Europe. 40 is actually a good price considering it's a keeb. I've had keysets that cost that much. Don't ever think about Pre-pandemic shipping rates, they won't come back.

Just to add a factor about price, at least in my region of Australia, the Choice65 doesn't come with a USB cable, case or stabs, while the Cycle7 comes with all 3. While the Choice65 has a lower base price, it would actually be the more expensive option if specced equivalently.

@@Keybored Of course, but given these boards are aimed at beginners entering the hobby, the initial price to a complete board does change. The Choice looks like better value than its price suggests. Still a great review, it actually helped me decide between the Choice65 and Cycle7 for a work keyboard. :)

Thank you very much for the extensive comparison. Unfortunately delivery costs makes a big difference in these budget boards. For the cycle7 to Canada, $40 delivery for a $139 board and then custom fees of another $25, thats almost 50% of the cost just for delivery is kind of ridiculous

Since you just tried the recommended setup, which is highly subjective, its difficult to draw a specific conclusion regarding sound right? Maybe you are missing one extra category like sound flexibility, how good it can be customized to your liking soundwise? Otherwise great video also i like the comp aspect.

Can I ask how we can find out what's the ideal config for the boards? He mentioned for example, Neo65 was intended to be built with no foam. I tried googling about this but came up empty. Hence the question. I'm new to the hobby and would like to try building my board how the designer intended first.

Scott! I usually love your scientific approach in your keyboard content, but I believe you missed the mark on this one. It would've been great to hear all 4 boards with the same switches and plate material in attempt to eliminate all variables. Still very entertaining as always!

  • @IIIdarksaberIII

    @IIIdarksaberIII

I think having the 4 boards with the same switches and plate material would introduce a major variable, which is that boards are generally designed to sound a specific way, and a board might get dinged for being designed for a sound that didn't get tested. For example, the choice65 seems intended to be used with some foam. But if someone only wants to buy a board that sounds good foam-less, then Scott doing all the sound tests with foam would make this entire review useless

@@Keybored I would love to hear as to why that's the case? I would've thought $99 for a full alu case, alu knob, and weight as well is an insane deal. I agree it's a bit out-dated with the EVA foam, and insane top case ping, but that's salvagable for the price.

  • @kenguru_kbd

the other ones don‘t have ping, and they all have a weight, which isn‘t the case for the sense bc the „weight“ is made of aluminum kekw if you want a 75 the mkc is just a way better option, or all 3 other boards from the video, they sound so much better
