by the way to stop them floating - try putting a very shallow layer of resin first. let it set about 70% so it's still reallys sticky then press your flowers onto it - then pour again :) no floaties :)
Great tutorial thanls

These are so lovely! I'm doing a square one for a frame & need an opaque background to hid the adhering tabs. I first thought I'd have to fill the mold with white epoxy then add the flowers. This a much better way. Perfect video for learning this! 💮🌻

@@glitznglitterbymichelle1 how many ounces of part a and how many ounces of part B to make the resin do you pour each?
@glitznglitterbymichelle1

Measure your mold with water first to see how much resin you need. Say you need 6 oz, then do 3 oz of each part if you are using a 1:1 ratio resin.
You could have done a very light blue background to look like the sky. Gorgeous job! 😍
Either way would be beautiful. Clear would show the color of whatever table cloth you're using, or the wood of your table. You can make more sets a different way to show that the possibility is really endless with art. You did a great job.

I’m new to resin and I’ve done the exact same as you. Next time I’ll put a thin layer of resin, the flowers let it cure then fill up
Great pick with the silver..that would of been my choice...
Nice
Left it clear
They're beautiful as they are. No colors!!! Maybe a gold border???? I would have made the first layer really thin, just to anchor the flowers. Or even dabs of UV resin cured with the hand held UV light. I have also seen people paint the flowers with resin. Daniel Cooper has a good tutorial on dried flowers.
I would have used a medium yellow, with glitter!
Yellow
I have like a million questions!! These are beautiful! 1. How do you store the “leftover” flowers ? 2. What was the purpose of the latex? 3. What do mean domed? I would think if they were domed they wouldn’t work well as say a “flat coaster.” 4. Could you have poured a thin layer allowed to get sticky then put the flowers down? 5. Why did you choose to lay the flowers face up? If placed face down, I think I could pour a back on more easily. Annnnd lastly these are just gorgeous! I was thinking you could’ve put a different color for the back of each one!
@glitznglitterbymichelle1
Жыл бұрын
Wow ! Ok 1. Flowers are stored in a plastic bag in a tupperware container. 2. Latex was to keep any accidental drips from ruining the opposite side (in case I "overfilled" the top coat. 3. Domed just means you fill to where it looks like it comes higher than the mold without breaking the surface tension. 4. You could have placed them facing down as well but I wanted to be able to see the exact placement for the finished product. Thank you so much for watching!!

LOL Thank you!! I'd love to see them when they are done!
Love it, I made making these one of my summer projects. I grow cut flowers and am wanting to find new and different ways to preserve the flowers. I am a bit confused on the latex. is it just so none of the resin pours over edge? How do you make sure that they are even since they are coaster and we don't want them to wobble.
@glitznglitterbymichelle1
Жыл бұрын
the latex was on the bottom just in case of any drips that would come over the edge. Then you peel off the latex. You can also tape them with masking tape as well you dont have to use the liquid latex. That's awesome that you can do your own flowers!! I wish I could but I dont have a green thumb... Thanks for watching!
Michelle try putting a small amount of resin with flowers and they will not move or float, then you can fill it up

Michelle, I followed your steps exactly to make these coasters and when i took them out of the mold, they had bubbles that had broke on the back of them and you could see into the flower. what did i do wrong. thank you
@glitznglitterbymichelle1

I’m not totally sure but maybe next time pour clear into your mold first then maybe coat the flowers in resin before placing to help avoid bubbles. I did those over a year ago so I’m not completely sure how I did them anymore without rewatching the video.
Question... why would you not do a thin coat 1st to prevent flowers from floating so much? Then top with thicker coat?

Why do you use the silacone on the other side? They are beautiful
@glitznglitterbymichelle1

The latex? It’s to keep any potential drips off that side so it doesn’t get ruined if the top coat dropped down. You can use painters tape too. The latex is easy to peel off.

@glitznglitterbymichelle1 Thank you !!! Masking tape should be ok as well?
Pkease clarity. What is the " doming" on the back?
@glitznglitterbymichelle1
10 ай бұрын
Anytime I top coat I try to dome it so there is less to no trimming off sharp edges. Just adding a bit more resin to make a “bubble” type dome without breaking the surface tension.
So beautiful! by my questions you will see that I'm a real beginner; why did you use liquid latex instead of tape? why did you put your liquid latex underneath instead of on the rim? for the first coat, why didn't you use UV resin instead of regular resin that you have to wait 12 hours or so ? ( sorry for my bad spalling, I'm french Canadian) thank you for sharing and have a great day !
@glitznglitterbymichelle1
11 ай бұрын
I used latex just to show how it’s done you can use tape as well. If the resin spills over it drips from underneath so that’s what I wanted to protect. I don’t use UV resin for top coats on coasters because it not only uses too much it also doesn’t cure as nice that large. Thanks for watching 😊
I am new and trying to educate myself on resin pouring and second layer. Noticed you did not sand? but let cure over night 12 hours but seemed to take second layer just fine. Why or what determines whether you sand or not? thank you in advance
