    Like the other comments thank you for sharing real content that actually helps the watcher know what to do when these things happen. No one is perfect and yet people who only post perfect results instead of real life issues isn't showing the whole picture. You actually showed what can happen and what to do when it does then slowed off a gorgeous piece of art. ❤ Great job! I'm hoping more people take that leap forward to show realistic art making instead of the make believe perfection. I can only imagine the courage it takes when you have clients and a business watching so again thank you for being brave and honest. I personally would much rather have someone of high integrity make my piece and saved this so when I'm going to purchase I look at you first and I'm sure I'm not the only one.

    They make silicone & plastic pot scrapers for baked on difficult dishwashing spots, & I wonder if a tooo like that would be useful for getting resin off acrylic, etc.? The silicone baking sheets may be nice to use underneath projects to make things easier to clean up? Just some idea 💡 thanks for the video showing the whole process- super cool!👍🏻 It would be cool to have a picture frame like the tray, as well… might be nice for ashes too? Thanks a lot!

    I have a question. I watched the other video that shows you spray paint flowers. Did you airbrush any colors on these flowers or are they just as is? The pink looks nice. I am new to all of this and like you said some of my flowers all seem to yellow more or dry much darker. I was wondering if some flowers are better than others at staying bright. This tray is my absolute fave. You are a true artist.

    These flowers were not color corrected. I only color correct florals if they are very brown, otherwise I like to keep them natural. Some flowers dry better, especially flowers with bright colors (like pinks, blues, purples, oranges, yellow) ❤️

    @@marinamakesartdo you have a video on how to properly dry the flowers? Or does the customer send you dried flowers? Also what is the difference in the final coat vs the other layers. I think you called it something different maybe a cast ?

  • @marinamakesart

    @marinamakesart

    2 ай бұрын

    @@greedygamblerslots for now I only have a quick short for flower drying (I also have a flower drying mini course on my website): Part 1: kzread.infosKyVI7kHfg0 Part 2: kzread.infolCirkXcv3uE I usually dry flowers for clients unless they already air dried them. The final coat (top coat) is a different type of resin than the casting (the layered block). The casting is made of a soft casting resin that is designed for deep pours into a mold. The top coating resin is designed for thinner pours and gives a hard surface (like a countertop epoxy).

    I take it this must be just a side gig for you? You know a very good living can be made off creating resin pieces for people. Why do you show everyone how to do it? Why create competition for yourself? Eventually enough people are doing it that no one can make a living doing it. Thats a shame. 😔

  • @marinamakesart

    @marinamakesart

    2 ай бұрын

    I disagree with this line of thinking. Being an artist is my full time job. I taught myself how to do resin art, and created a business with it to provide myself a better life. I started to share educational content due to the high volume of emails and messages asking for help. I share what I am comfortable with, since it helps others. If a chef were to share his cooking online, that would not put him out of work. In fact, that could open up more opportunities for him, as it has for me. Competition exists in any industry. However, If you provide unique value (as any artist should), competition is irrelevant. There is more than enough money/clientele/etc to go around for everyone.

    @@marinamakesart how many people have you helped that would have been your customer. I know in my case many. competition is good. Over saturation of the market is not. If you can’t see that coming you need to open your eyes or you’ll be looking for a new trade. I’ve been doing resin for 8 years. Since 2020 everybody that had nothing to do started resin. Maybe if you live among millions you’ll be fine. Not everyone lives among millions of people and yes finding all the info you need on KZread definitely doesn’t help.

    @@dontfit6380Anybody willing to take the time and spend the money to sit down and learn would likely not be a customer because they have a different mindset toward the product. She turns them into a different kind of customer with her educational content. Capturing a wider audience than her physical goods would have allowed in the first place. What’s she’s doing is incredibly smart and done throughout many business industries. 👍🏾

    @@Jellyjamwaffles I’m sorry but you couldn’t be further from the truth. Our biggest competitors in our area are past customers. We’ve even had them use pieces we made for them as their displays. We’ve had florist start doing resin after carrying our display pieces. Before 2020 there was next to nothing for people doing resin because there was next to nothing for videos on how to do it. When the pandemic hit it gave people with regular jobs too much time on their hands and they started doing other things. Like putting videos on KZread on how to cast resin. I’m willing to bet thats how this content creator got started. We have a customer or 2 probably weekly that want to do it themselves but were to scared to. The majority of them luckily are not KZread watchers. They call or message for help. Our response is we would be glad to help you would you like to schedule a time to drop off your flowers? When they press further we explain that this is our business it’s how we feed our family giving away something that took us years and thousands of dollars to learn is not a good way to maintain a business. They understand say thank you and most schedule a time to drop off. We’re lucky to have an already established flower preservation business that doesn’t use just resin. The free content on how to cast resin has caused a drop in sales and for a fact created competition. Lots of competition. Creating resin pieces from flowers does not have unlimited customers especially if you don’t live in a major city. We prefer not to do sales in other states because that hurts any locals that are feeding their families. She turns them into a different kind of customer? I’ve looked up what you can make on KZread with 52,000 subscribers. She makes less in a month than our business makes in a couple hours. Yes she could use KZread to capture a wider audience and sell her pieces by showcasing what she makes but you don’t show how you make it. Telling me that what she’s done is incredibly smart is telling me that you have never run a business or are young and naïve. Yes there are other people in other business doing the same thing. They all have the hopes of making millions on KZread not within their business. She would be much better off showcasing her pieces on here and selling her services or giving in person classes for a substantial fee. Giving away an education that she herself has I’m assuming busted her 🫏 to learn is just pain bad business.
