Adding dried flowers to Resin: Testing different methods

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Hey my lovelies, In this video I show you how I add dried flowers to Resin. There are a few methods people use and I would use the method that works best for you. As I do not work with dried flowers much, I thought I would test the methods I know about.
This video has also been produced because I was asked for a sanding and top coating video. These are things that I have done previously in separate videos but the next video will be how I sand these and give them a top coat.
Details for MERCH is down below. I forgot to mention, the mould is from Molds and Shapes and here are the details:

Beautiful!! I like bubbles with flowers. I think they look like dew drops. I never coat my flowers first. I've had good luck with only getting "dew drop" bubbles, which I like anyway. I love the black and white color scheme you chose. You can get the tiny bits you called gypsum (I don't know what they are called, but I love them, too) on amazon by themselves, but every time I've seen them they were outrageously expensive. I'm glad I usually get a few in the packs of dried flowers I buy. Thanks so much for showing these! Happy Creating!!!

The tiny little flowers in starburst shapes are Queen Anne's lace, I do love it too. I've been drying my own flowers and I have learned quite a lot of surprising things. I hope you found the fine silica sand, because I had started with the bead type and was SO sad when all of my beautiful flowers had horrible dents and looked like they had been shot with shotgun pellets!😂😭 So after runining all of my self grown daffodils, I finally found the fine sand 💖 Now I am able to keep my flowers lovely and smooth 😊 Next came the many misadventures of sealing the flowers with all sorts of products.... Oh my goodness!! How frustrating! After all the time and work, I found that the lovely flowers I had painstakingly clearcoated with many coats of expensive sealers... They turned clear in random spots!!! 😭😭😭 I was SO devistated! Since then, I am now prefilling my flower with resin if possible, otherwise I am just putting them into the resin WITHOUT any sealer. Some will get funky spots, and some don't. But one thing I've learned the hard way, is to avoid poking or moving the flowers once they're wet with resin because they tear SO easily and it's heartbreaking! You're coasters came out lovely, and I adore you're videos 💙 I hope some of my experiences will be helpful to you. Enjoy!

I thought they had burned but I think now that it was bruising xxx

Those little flowers you called gypsum are actually Queen Anne's Lace or wild carrot. Also, I too have gotten some of that mottling. It seems to happen wherever I've pushed on the flower/greenery multiple times.

If you lay the colour down first and then put flowers in face up, when you add the clear layer on top you will be able to see and get rid of any bubbles straight away. You’ll never have a problem with trapped bubbles again ☺️

Loving the coasters. The white flowers really pop on the black. In the past I tried adding the dried flowers using mod podge. I poured a layer & let it cure. Then addef the flowers with mod podge & let it dry before adding another layer. I found that some of the greenery ended up mottled like on one of yours. I had tried it that way as I was worried about the flowers moving in the liquid resin. Perhaps adding the flowers once the resin has thickened slightly might help - I'll give it a go

Heyyyy Jenn ... flowers need to be 100% dry before putting in resin or they will go brown .. also .. I have since been told that dried flowers can bruise easily so you have to be really gentle. The last reason would be that they got burned by the resin in a deep pour .. sometimes the resin can heat up real quick and burn them x
