Great Video. I recently discovered a trick to reduce flowers turning translucent. I’ve found that some varieties are just more likely to have this happen than others. Hibiscus, white dogwoods (amazingly not pink ones) and day lilies are all prone to going translucent. Spray the dried flowers, front and back, with spray sealant and let that dry first. Treat them like you would paper items going in. Another tip for preventing bubbles coming from the flowers. For ones like sunflowers, with dense large centers, soak them first with resin. Let that resin cure, THEN place them in your resin project. I also use UV resin to set and strengthen fragile flowers by treating them with a quick set UV resin then placing them in the arrangement. Use a good quality UV resin so it doesn’t yellow, or only place the resin where it won’t be seen if it does yellow but the surrounding resin stays clear. Have fun and thanks for your videos!

I have watched approximately 85726262942 videos about this and this is the first one that discusses WHY to pour a little at a time and how to prevent extra bubbles and flower bleaching. I've never done this before and wasn't planning on doing it myself. My dad passed away 10 days ago and the funeral service was a week ago. I want to preserve the flowers and none of the 14 florists in town do that service anymore. The closest place in my state is a 7hr drive grom me and tskes 2 days to ship things to. I was afraid they'd crumble and be destroyed on the way there. So here I am trying this myself. Probably better this way anyway because my dad loved my creative side and encouraged me to create all the time.

I want to make jewelry with the petals and a little filler flowers, like baby's breath. I've made jewelry for years but I don't have any experience with flowers in resin. I've always worked with semi precious gemstones. Thank you for the tips. I will be using UV resin. I'm definitely going to test the flowers out first.

I've been getting so excited about ArtResin cause I was so drawn to try resin then so bummed to hear how dangerously toxic it can be. I looked up alternatives and ArtResin is one that stood out. Then you say it's one of your top two favorite resins so I'm even more excited. I have a very specific resin project idea I'm really wanting expert advice on. Are you available for advising? I haven't yet used resin at all. Just have started watching videos on it and it really speaks to me.

Greetings from mumbai, india. Thank you for such an informative video. Here we dont have much choice of epoxy resins so plan do cast a rose in a 15cm pyramid mold and make a lamp using a deep pour/slow cure resin. My question to you is, since i will have to pour several layers, is there any way one can avoid seeing the fine demarkation line between layers??? if i pour a layer over one that is semi set and sticky, will the new layer bond with the earlier one and eliminate any demarkation line???your expert advice will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

One will be a pyramid and the other a hexagon mold. When you say layers, how many cms would you recommend? Also I can't seem to get all the silica powder out of the roses no matter how hard I try... will it affect the resin if there is some left within the flowers? Thank you so incredibly much if you get the chance to respond to this sweetheart, I know how busy you must be.

Last tip is technically imprecise, even the one on discoloring. Sometimes it may happen because of interference patterns generated by light because the surface of many flowers resembles a diffraction grating. It's just like onions in olive oil, they become transparent with the varying temperature of the oil, because viscosity is temperature dependent in olive oil and tightly packed molecules behave differently that loosened particles when light strikes or passes through them, but the moment you lower the temperature, the onions reappear. 🙂

When you use the silica (silican? silicone?) gel, beads (sorry, I am am absolute noob here) do you microwave them? Like, place the flowers in, pour over the beads, microwave them and then they're dry? Or do you just leave it for a certain period of time?
