250HP Volkswagen Golf Mk2 w/ Paddle Shifters Racing on Track: 2.0 GTI Mk3 Engine + ITBs!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

This video is about a VW Golf Mk2 I recorded during a Varano Rally Krono event. The car is now powered by a Golf GTI Mk3 2.0 N/A engine to which lots of works has been done (among the visible ones ITBs, Individual Throttle Bodies, as intake) and now it is able to produce something more than 250hp. A sequential gearbox has been installed too coupled to paddle shifters.

    Hi Bozzy. These days we're so used to cars having 600+ horsepower, when people hear a car has "only" has around 250 horsepower, they tend to turn their nose up as if that's insignificant. When you couple that 250hp with lightweight, tremendous grip, and a sequential shift, it obviously makes for an exciting experience.💪 Personally, I'm more of a Honda man than VW, but that little pocket rocket is pretty badass! Cars like that are one of the reasons I love this channel... there's something for everybody. Thanks for sharing, Bozzy. Have a great day, mate.✌

    It's normal with these cars. You three wheel around corners but it carves like it's on rails anyway. The inside rear wheel lock up is for fun. You drive a car like this and know it should have IRS, but the axle beam works good when the car is tuned for cornering.

    It’s a 2.0 ABF or 9A from a Mk3 Golf, Passat, Seat Ibiza / Córdoba (ABF) or Audi platform (9A) from just looking at it. The injection system has been replaced with ITBs and the internals are heavily worked. I imagine it’s fully balanced and blueprinted too. It’s a very popular engine for hill climb racing in NA form. It can turbocharged too with insane power being achieved by a lot of tuners. The gearbox could well be a Quaife sequential 6 speed or even a DSG unit from a mk5 Golf etc. I’m not entirely sure though, I’m just a VW enthusiast that knows a lot about the ABF. Check out Boba Motoring for insane turbocharged ABF cars and look for almost any VW hill climb car for NA performance, the Cabilis Performance Scirocco stands out in my mind.

    opposite. they must improve front suspension. less roll in the front. 4 tires contacting the ground with equal contact patches are much better than 3 contact patches touching (lifting a rear tire). more grip. the stiffness in the rear seems to be fine. if the front was that stiff, it would handle much better. if rear was softened up, it would put lateral load on only 2 tires - the cornering side. 2 tires with most load compared to all 4 (or 3 as in this video). look at indy car. they have 0 roll and corner at neck breaking speeds (granted much wider tires, but same idea applies)

  • @VWPirates

    @VWPirates

    5 жыл бұрын

    Carlos I have a similar left leg problem. and I race Golf mk1's. I believe this is not just adding paddle shifters but you also need a specialized gearbox such as the DSG from the Golf mk5 Luckily in my country our cars are right hand drive and over the years I've learnt to assist my leg to depress the clutch with my left hand and as right hand drive cars gear lever sits on the left, your hand needs to travel a little distance from knee to gear knob. I did own a left hand drive Ferrari and Porsche before and this method does not work for LH drive cars with the gear lever on the right as you had to press your knee down with your left hand and at the same time change gears with you right hand... meaning you have no hands for the steering while you change gears lol Made for interesting driving, timing your gear changes for the straights only. My advice for you is to try drive a right hand drive car. The clutch legs is easier assisted with your left hand and over time your gear changes are spot on. Where there is a will there is a way and more so if it's your passion. Good luck
