You're not too far from the truth. Cracker was used as an anti-white slur to demean impoverished white people who often worked terrible jobs such as whip-cracking to herd livestock and to fight in arenas. It was actually used before The United States was even it's own country.

I am not a cowboy I have honestly never even seen a whip in person I don't really like the sound I have no desire to ever be around one that being said; this is absolutely awesome. Id suggest you try Obenaufs leather paste. Really good stuff. Been using it on my leather work boots for ever. Keeps the leather supple and waterproof. I also use it on my mid calf leather fishing boots. Only time I've ever had wet feet was when I step in deeper than the boot. Give it a shot.

I have this exact same whip hanging on my wall that was my great grandpa's. I played with it as a kid and found it about 2 months ago. I'm 42 years old now and because of that whip I have made close to 12 whips now because it is in such a bad shape I don't want to tear it up.
