About:
Jason and Lorraine. In 2016 we sold most of our belongings and left the city in southern California to start a small homestead in the mountains of North Carolina. We left the city in search for a more minimal and intentional life. We became passionate about growing our own food and knowing what exactly is in our food after I (Jason) became diagnosed with cancer. Now 8 years in remission we as a family are on a journey to live our passions.
We document our life on KZread videos to inspire others to get out of their comfort zone and not be afraid of change. We started our own online general store where we have available the things we make and use in real life. Thank you for following us on this incredible life changing journey!

0:10 - You’re not “driving”, buddy. You’re riding. 😁
I would put in a twin size bed because I'm small, 'bout 5'1. I love how everything is so spacious in the small bus...like the TARDIS. 😊
Jason, I have never understood why people put porch lights so close to their entry doors. In my experience the light attracts tons of bugs such that when you open the door to go in/out you let them hop right in! My recommendation for future conversions would be to put the light at least 6-10 feet away from the door. The light that gets cast down from the porch light is always going to be enough to see the steps and key hole and if it's not right next to or above the door it will still work just fine. Just sayin'.....

Shoulnd be bad in the cool/cold weather months
Love this! I am a single father getting ready to retire. I love traveling and have been looking into conversions as well as rvs. Being by myself I would not need anything more than this. Great work guys!
As an aspiring nurse, this is right up my alley. A smedium skoolie 💛

Yes ma'am. Exactly what I'm doing. Looking at a shuttle bus now! And working on nursing prereqs. I want to be a travel nurse.
Best Skoolie interior design features I’ve seen so far. The toilet urine design is wicked awesome. Simple and clever
Awesome, I like what she said about an RV not bringing that same excitement. That seems to a growing feeling as the conversions gain popularity.
So very nice. I like the raised shower ceiling. All the extra that have been added are wonderful. Best of all in my humble opinion is the RV door.
Who let the 6'2 guy do this tour? Made me so anxious watching this cause he couldn't stand up ):
Awesome, love the shower dome. Would be cool if much of the roof was like that .
Very nice conversion love the paint color and the nice clean interior best of luck to the nurses on many happy and safe miles of a journey in life i used to do Architectual Woodworking as my lively hood and the company specialized in Building and renovating Hospitals around the Washington DC metro area as luck would have it in my 40s i suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury therefore needing to stay long term in hospitals because of my profession i learned that Nurses pretty much run the places and because of my injury i learned that a good crew of nurses on staff can make or break a hospitals ability to perform well and really help the patients in. A summary Nurses Rock ! You guys really do make the world a better place and Thankyou to each and every one
Beeswax makes a great lubricant for wood to wood contact. It doesn't attract dirt and makes sliding joints slide much easier. It can be thinned with mineral oil and heat ,best to use a double boiler as the mixture is flexible, so use due caution , like doing the process outdoors. Nice build, well done, thanks for the tour.
Awesome model. Very airy and doesn't look small.
So many amazing details and superb execution. Seriously can't get over how incredible this one is.
Yay! The only time we get to see Kenny is through your vlogs. Thanks Jason. Awesome job on the conversion. Blessings...
oh god, that shower dome would be really neat during a storm.
Love the clean finishes. Great tiny but very useful addition of floor over the stairs.
TWO THUMBS UP FOR THE BOTTLE OPENER! I just sold my Jeep last year, lifted and all the cool stuff... but my favorite upgrade was the bottle opener on the front bumper!
Wish the bed was liftable to monopolize on the lost space underneath for closet space and other storage. Good job on the economy version.
Suggestions.. 1. Foldable stove reflector or you can add a camping stove wind reflector while cooking (easy to remove once cooking is done). 2. other than the water tank.. Attach a portable roof (colored charcoal black and heated by sun in winter) solar shower system..good to clean the bus while on the road and other shower usage including dish washing.. 3. Foot powered washing machine would be ideal 4. Attach an RV shade awning.
I like that you showed yourself driving no one has done that yet
What a nice build and a great canvas for personalizing.
Outstanding. Paint the RV door, though
I’m so excited to fine you! We are in Asheville and beginning our short bus conversion. I’d love to here from you.
Love it!!! I'm looking for a shuttle bus or small bus to have converted.

Govdeals.com I bought 2 busses that ran great for 2000$ you have to keep an eye on the website to find what your looking for and you may have to go out of town to get good luck
Personally I would have raised the rear of the roof, and used the system of lowering and raising the bed. Then you would have access to both doors. Also add cameras on the sides for security. I love the build.
The screen door is a GREAT idea!!
Gorgeous conversion. Exactly what I would like, but more storage for clothes and adventure gear. No way I could live in that with another person though. Don't know how they are going to do it. ~Smile!
You should put some rubber on those metal corners, wet feet and sharp edges recipe for deep lacerations.
Congratulations on the bus redo. You did a great job.
With the floor that high, I expect there is a bunch more room for underneath storage.

You’d have to add it though. I didn’t see any cargo doors on the outside.
Your right about the curtains vs. doors for the shower and bath. I get phobic of small spaces as well.
Shalom! Wow...what a great bus conversion. The craftmanship is wonderful;.. Thank you all and blessings!
Love that you guys raised things when needed. Especially the shower! And I'm petite, lol!
wow,how i envy those two. They get to work, and travel in their beautiful blue bus.
LOVE the colour. Great interior, too "clean" for me tho' lol I like rustic. Great job you guys!!!
God loves yall and may He guide you brother ❤️🙏
Oh my gosh I would have these guys build my vacation vehicle in a heart beat!!! I love the work they did. I bookmarked their website. This little travel bus would be perfect to go across the country in. 👍🏼👍🏼
I'm a retired RN, and I'm jealous!!!! Enjoy and have fun!!! 🚎
Beautifully done
Amazing!! I just Love that turquoise color! ;)
love this bus conversion, colors and layout and all except instead of couch bed I would have a desk/table with 2 small comfy chairs with storage beside chairs and overhead. Also instead of the shelf over the sink, some metal hanging baskets for more useable storage other than that it is perfect. thanks for the great video. (also, if you had a smaller fridge you could put a couple drawers under it for more kitchen storage.)
Just the size bus I’m looking for nice job! Love it
I really needed that shower roof raise idea. Thx
Funny that you've been part of so many conversions but that was your first time riding in one!! Lol
i would raised the roof or lower the floor..great way to use space..i like the couch..and shower..nice build also good use of led's around the floor and over head...would be cool.
Wow, that's a huge difference on the toilet cost!
I liked the false floor by the main door, the bug screen, the light & airy shower, the big fridge freezer, rear view camera, outside table and the bedroom. However, I thought the kitchen needed more than a 2 burner stove. A roof raise all round would've been better, especially for the aircon. I also couldn't imagine making do with a shower curtain for the toilet, especially as they've gone to the trouble of fashioning a bespoke oak unit - surely some privacy is required?!
thomas vista? also, in the shower...some elect to drop the shower pan into the floor to gain height. i toyed with the idea to turn one of my built-n under storage compartments in to a coffin-like hidden bed in the floor. i also used some of the under storage for supply water, and black water tanks. one for bottled lp too.

Next build you should use chains for the shower and potty room curtains because they can use the chains (with curtains on them) to close of the entire bathroom as needed to get dressed and then put them back on their individual spaces when done or as needed. Great build guys!
WOW, your are a talented guy. I look forward to more of your videos. It is fun to dream.
@0:15 i jumped out of my seat! Hes driving a bus and looking at the camera behind him! Super Nice build though! and asheville is right in my backyard
wow, best floor plan, love all the upgrades!
cute little home on wheels. nice job you did!
I adore that tiny skoolie!
Thanks 4 educating us
Beautiful conversation 👏👏👏👏👏👏
I looked into retired buses. Problems were with the suspension and drive train. Suspension was not designed for any real smoothness at all. According to a few HD mechanics there was not much that could be done without a lot of custom fab to make the suspension have more travel and smoother dampening. Also the trans and rear end gearing were set for highway cruising at all. Those would need to be addressed as well and no guarantees that you could get the gearing you wanted. Cool for being mostly parked but not so cool if you want to regularly travel in it.
This is the perfect size that I want. I sent you all a request for quote. Awesome work!
Love the high shower roof! Inside color scheme is a little to clinical...very clean build!
such a nice shower. beautiful job on everything. and the colors inside & out are awesome. i love the blue!
Love it and the master bedroom caught my attention cause it looks like a cabin hiding in a back box.
Awesome job!!! You guys are the bomb! You should edit your info/details or add a pinned post here with a link to the composting toilet kit.
The only issues with a Schoolie that doesn't change is it's always going to ride, handle and drive like a School Bus. And why doesn't anyone tell what the thing cost to build? You can get a good used motorhome that will ride and drive much better. And modify it to your needs. I've been living in my Gulfstream Sunstream Hi-Rise 36ft gas powered motorhome for 25+ years. I tore out all of the carpet and in the living, kitchen and hallway put down real hardwood floors. In the bathroom and bedroom I put down ceramic tile floors. I've upgraded repainted and modified all to suit my needs and love my old RV today as much as the day I brought her home! She's a full body paint job and looks much newer than she is. Oh, and her name is Stella, after my Mom. She's 92 now and we still go out for a good Long Island Tea or two.
Looks like good work guys ! Very nice job.
Incredible job
The owners seem like the nicest people
Great Job!
Nice colour of school bus.
Artscape window film would work perfect for a bathroom window covering. Does a great job at providing privacy without blocking out the natural light :)

Just as an FYI - it can get moldy around the edges. 😑 I think if I needed to do a privacy covering over a bathroom window ever again, I think I might go with a glass paint of some kind. Or better yet, replace the clear glass with frosted.
Brilliant shower idea!!! I also liked the fold down floor over the stairs:)
love the toilet idea!! My budget could do this!

Do you know what this beautiful conversion $ cost?
Wonderful job 👍👍. If I wasn’t claustrophobic it would be great for me. Love all the little extras you put into place 👵🏻👩🌾❣️
One of the best.
Nice! Like the color!
Very nice bus conversion,
This is one of my favorite builds I've ever seen
Very close to what I'm looking for. Love this
I just found this channel, I live in Oxford NC when I get my Dodge Ram ProMaster I know who I'm going to.

Yeah, instead of that couch/mattress setup, i would have had a nice closet there, even a top closet and bottom drawer kinda deal. Nice open concept and i'm a huge fan of the white color. I would also have a nice murphy bed setup in the back there to save a lot of room if needed.

So I just think it’s great and I don’t really like folks much that say negative things about somebody else’s creations. Don’t have nice things to say don’t say anything!

Gorgeous!!!!!
Great job I love this.
Love the shower and the compost toilet area.
That is a perfect layout for a shorter bus! Well done mine will have the same layout. Thanks for the ideas!
Fantastic!
Hi....... Jason that is so nice and beautiful short bus 🚌 it amazing, thank you for sharing your video homestead chicken farmer garden 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 🐔🐓🐥🌱🎥👍👍👍
Damm in 6’4 that would suck. Super nice Skoolie. So I’d have to get a city bus if I ever was brave enough to do something like this.
Neat as for a shorty! Loving the clean easy look 👍
I love it. Simple and perfect. This is what I want to do.
Everything looks so clean. Except for the solar wiring on the roof. That really needs to be cleaned up.

I definitely agree that the electrical on the roof could use some work because everything else is so smooth.
As far as a door for the bathroom( toilet), I'd want something that folds up as it opens.😊
