25 Messed Up Origins Of Disney Villains

Фильм және анимация

Disney has some of the darkest villains of all time! Subscribe to our channel for more awesome videos: bit.ly/Subscribe-to-Screenrant
Part of what makes Disney movies so enticing is their incredible characters. We have fallen in love a million times over with heroes that rise above their status and prove themselves despite their dire situations. It never gets old! But as much as we love a Disney good guy, it’s the bad guys that keep us coming back for more. Something about their wicked ways and amoralistic tendencies are so captivating. They are often cunning, manipulative and downright sociopathic to the point where they are endlessly fascinating. Simba would be nothing without his need to defeat Scar and Mulan needs to take on Shan Yu to save her country. Without these villains, our favourite Disney films would not be the same. Today we will be looking at the backstories of 25 Disney Villains and uncovering the mysteries behind their twisted minds.
As you’ll discover, some will actually be more layered that you think and have motive for their bad behaviour. We found out that Gaston from Beauty and the Beast suffers from wartime PTSD and that Hades from Hercules hates his job and just wants to move up the ladder. While they are not necessarily justified for their actions, you will at least see that they aren’t bad for no reason. On the flip side, you’ll learn that some villains are worse than they seem. We will reveal that in the original version Sykes from Oliver and Company kills his girlfriend and that the jealous queen from Snow White actually thinks she’s eating the young girls liver in the first version! We’ll be providing you with a mix of messed up origin stories that were watered down for young audiences, and some tales that will have you empathizing with even the most horrible of characters. Buckle up!

YES! His job was just to rule over the dead. He was a pretty nice guy unless you made him made. I hate the representation of him in that movie. Oh, and Hercules is actually the ROMAN name. The movie should have been titled Heracles. I love seeing people that understand and appreciate greek mythology

In Maleficent. That is wholly incorrect. "She got ghosted." Um no lol? She put her trust and faith in him, loved him, and he literally betrayed her (drugged her and cut off her wings) all so he could be the heir to the throne. That's a completely different outcome than "getting ghosted"

The Hades part is totally wrong and if you go ahead and say “well how do you know” I would just tell that I just learned this in school so back off. Now for the real story. Zeus got the sky Poseidon got the sea and Hades was NOT just left with the underworld. He just didn’t like sunlight. He liked darkness more and in the underworld is where he could be in the darkest place and he probably just doesn’t get enough Vitamin D which makes him sad and mad. Also Persephone doesn’t like it very much in the underworld and since it looks as if it is summer in the real world, that probably means Persephone isn’t there and Hades is sad and alone.

One Disney villain who almost had an interesting backstory was Oogie Boogie from THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS. We know him simply as a sadistic gambler who's basically a burlap sack filled with bugs. But the way screenwriter Caroline Thompson originally conceived him, Oogie was actually the alter ego of Dr. Finkelstein, who wanted to ruin Jack Skellington because he was jealous that Sally had more affection for Jack than for him. In the rough cut of the film, when Oogie disintegrates, Finkelstein is revealed as the puppeteer controlling the bug-filled sack, and he has quite a bit of explaining to do!

Some people actually thought that Diablo was useless in the original Sleeping Beauty Animated Movie, but that's not true. He was a spy for Maleficent who located The three fairy godmothers and Aroura's cottage. Seeing him in Live Action Maleficent however was pretty much a disappointment. And the fact that he can only transform into any creature MALEFICENT wants him to be doesn't help.
