Keeping a stocked rotating pantry is great, not only in a SHTF scenario but a LCE(life changing event) My husband was DX with stage 4 cancer and the last 3 1/2 years my pantry kept us going. If i was to tired to fix a meal, the mylar packaged meals came in handy, if i just didn't have time to grocery shop with all the treatments and tests i could still throw a decent meal on the table. I'm working on restocking alot of what we've used at much higher prices now. I'll never be without a fully stocked rotating pantry. It saved us many times.🥈

Hot jello is great for when you’re sick. It feels good on the throat and gets something in the belly when the person doesn’t feel like eating. Also good just for a hot drink in the winter for something different or for someone that doesn’t/can’t drink tea or coffee.

👍🥈I’ve been using what I’ve stocked piled since my husband was laid off for three months. So glad. It really helped with cutting costs. I did realize there were a few items I still needed to buy to make some meals. So, now I know what I should add to my preps when I start restocking. It was kinda fun because I did a lot more cooking from scratch and felt more pride in the food I made.

When I was younger, our mom used metal trash cans to protect 50 lb. bags of flour and sugar etc. and for all other dry goods. Kept them in a shed. Never had any bugs or rodents. I’m 54 so that has been a good tip for many years! Thanks for sharing it! Great video.

As always, I go through your video and add to my list. Then it hit me, I’m almost 65! I’m not likely to live 25 more years! 🤷🏻‍♀️So I’ve got to rethink some things. I want to be prepared, but I must be practical.

Thank you for your comment. We have to be realistic. Those of us that are over 65. I’m 68 I probably going to live 20 more years I don’t want to be 80. I didn’t even wanna be 68 be truthful. So do I need something that has a 25 year shelflife? No not really. The person who gets my estate is going to be stuck with all this food and they’re not a Prepper. What good is it going to do them? Look at the money I have wasted. I’m rethinking my preps and I’m going to be here? I’m going mostly with freeze dried food or dehydrated. I quit stacking up stacks of food. I’m going to start giving them away. I already have over a years worth and all the poundage that Jara is recommending. Recommendations may vary so everyone should be aware. This is a good video. I hadn’t thought of. I haven’t thought of them because I don’t eat them and you’re not supposed to stock what you don’t eat! So thank you for your timely comment.

I agree with you 100%. I’m 68 and I have a years worth of food but it’ll probably take me three years to eat at all! I’m not gonna be around more than 10 years not that I plan on it and show my friends think I’m gonna live to be 88 which I don’t know what to think about that. But you’re right the trouble is you can’t give away your home canned food. Even female doesn’t want it! I’ve been just doing things that I like to do like dehydrating and making meals in a jar. I will start making or rather put in a side, part of one of my bookcases for the unprepared. I feel sorry for the person who is my executrix because she isn’t in Prepping. But a pet do a lot of reevaluating and I’m not sure sure I need to be a Prepper for food anymore. I need to save my money and get me up solar system. My biggest problem is going to be water. 140 miles to the nearest man-made lake, and I have property, but the weather is dry. So water will be the biggest problem. My problem with water is where do you store it! So I agree with you I must be much more practical, and the local Gospel rescue. Mission is going to be on the receiving end of many of my preps. I don’t need them. I was like we won’t even be around to eat them so I really don’t need them. I have a garden every year and that supplements me just fine. I’m a family of two, myself and my Siamese cat. So thank you I am so glad to see someone else step up and say wait a minute we don’t have a big family, I’m not gonna be here forever, some of the basic points that nobody wants to talk about!

If you store brown rice you have to dry store it - that is put it in a freezer bag - put the brown rice bag and all into a freezer saver bag and punch a hole in it and vacume and seal the bag - Brown rice has the oil in the brand so it will go rancid if not vacume sealed -

I had spent decades in the offshore oilfields - In my case i stayed on the crew to take a salt tablet every time they drank water - between the heat and work each hand consumed about a lb of salt a month - During this last heat wave in the deep south many that were on low salt diets died of strokes - If they had drank a glass of salty water right when they felt light headed they would not have died -

I had worked some high mountain oilfields at one time - the area we were in the ground was shale - It was missrably cold some nights it was minus 60° F - the companies that were on that job all gave up on it because every hand quit within 21 days - they cought the flue every few days and would dehydrate - There was a virus in that shale the indians told settlers to pass through that area and not stop or they would die - In the gulf of mexico there were some retired WW2 miltary cooks that said soldiers in the high mountains in winter were fed special diets so they would not get sick - We had them transfered up in the mountains - as it turned out they would not feed the crews any gluten grains - they made bread from millet and emery grains - none of our crews were ever sick with thors viruses - even the spanish flue only effeced countrys on gluten grains - it had no effect on many areas of india and othere nations that brown rice was the main stay - viruses thrive on gluten protiens -

Thanks for watching my channel 😀 But I'll stop you right there .. Thrive Life IS the standard in freeze dried food. They use ALUMINUM CANS and always have. And anybody else that orders from Thrive Life is more than welcome to chime in here. I have thousands of cans from Thrive Life, all aluminum 😀 In fact, I just received an order yesterday. Guess what?? All aluminum 😀 Thrive Life does offer a limited selection of items in Mylar bags, called the "Snackies" line because, well, they are meant for snacking and NOT long-term storage. However, I've seen them last much longer than the recommended one year shelf life. Are you certain the items you purchased were from Thrive Life? Because it sure doesn't sound like it. I've had an overwhelming amount of positive reviews over the 4+ years I've been with Thrive Life. I invite you to give them a try! And if you're ever not satisfied, Thrive Life has a 30-day money-back guarantee, no questions asked. Whether the can is unopened, half gone, or completely empty, you can ship it back for a full refund 😉 I stand by my statement .. Thrive Life is the standard, and with the way things are going with their international expansion, I don't expect that to ever change 💚
