I love your channel I’m 61 years old and I haven’t drawn for over 30 years because life happens and in all the chaos that goes with it, but watching your videos and I having all the time in the world now to relax and enjoy life. I’m starting to draw again, thank you so much for the encouraging words and the love that you put in to your art work.

Same but I am 62 and 2 yrs out from retirement. I have been getting my muscle memory back and messing around. Gonna take a class in the summer. (I am a teacher and summers are my practice being retired time) I can't wait until I REALLY have free time. Getting ready for it now. Writing down goals and keeping track. (I had a goal of sketching every day for an hour but so far managing every other day 30 minutes.) I am proud of myself and how quickly I am feeling comfortable and getting lost in drawing like I did in my school days and through my 20's. Just working on increasing time at it. Thanks Jess! Love your channel!

You could try a small sketchbook something portable. I have tried it and when I get the urge to draw during errands it's nice to have it with me.
Does this mean we'll get a sketchbook tour video soon?? So excited! I've been meaning to diving deep into expression studies.. perfect timing 🙃

Maybeeeee! Thanks!!
your faces really loosened up near the end and became so emotive!🥰
Jess, when you have the two pages of graphite facing each other, how do you keep them from smudging into each other?
I really love how you explain your process of breaking things down and letting yourself feel the process. It is very inspiring and so beautiful to see.

I'm going to add this to my list of drawing things. This was amazing. These look so good. I'm so jealous.
There is so much charcter in each of the faces, highlighting unique features about each of them.
I have been published since 1985 and an illustrator of books album covers etc. I have designed ornaments made in Poland and make zines. You channel is top notch and we love your work. Thank you for doing this. Even though I am 53 I am learning from you. You and your videos are lovely.
I was hoping you would talk about the jumbo pencils! I love how your drawings just seem to emerge from the paper, from blended and smudgy “nothing” and WHAM a few select lines and it comes alive!
I am 51 and watching you draw makes me wish I got started drawing earlier in my life. I’ve always loved art but never made time to pursue it. I often wonder if I missed my chance to hone my skill and become a talented artist.

Wonderful drawings and explanations 💯👌🏾❤️🔥
watching you sketch is so therapeutic for me...can you do a tutorial on how to approach a reference picture before sketching?? i wanna know how you go about sketching portraits... i really love your art style and i'm wishing to be better with my skills...
Amazing! You’re so so gifted ❤ This inspires me to start sketching again
Jess, such a wonderful video and exactly on time - I watched till the end and noticed when you clasped your hands in gratitude for what you had accomplished - This was a hard one for you to complete and see through to the end, but you did it. You broke through a wall. Not a tall wall, but a THICK wall, which are the trickiest ones, needing endurance and patience. You looked for the wins and wonder in wach challenge. - That was very real and touching to me. I've been challenged lately in my art practice and this gave me the grace to keep going. Thank you so much!!!
Fabulous artwork, very inspirational. You're so talented.

Miss Jess, I really like the progression you took starting off with portraiture and then slowly fading into caricature and cartoon style expression’s! I believe Norman Rockwell(my hero) did the same thing although probably didn’t intend to go in that direction lol! Humor in art to me personally is truly a reflection of myself. I just love to make people laugh with my art but most of all, I love to see them smile!
What a fabulous video! As I said multiple times, your cinnamon topography is perfection. Makes it more like a movie. You are truly an inspiration. I bought some of those jumbo pencils as I’ve never used them before and look forward to trying them out in my sketchbook.
perfect timing! I was just doing some "stylizing of the human face" practice and your video popped up! Love your art as always, and I also really love your pink nails in this video! So cute!

Hello 👋jess, it's been so long I was waiting for you. nowadays i was feeling so low kept myself pushing to do things but watching your videos really makes me happy and the way you explain very single details. actually this was quietly emotional to watch. your sketchbook finishing videos are so heart warming. and next eagerly waiting for new sketchbook, THE NEW CHAPTER. lots of love from India 🫂💖
Great video! ❤ I have a habit of drawing all of my lines first, but after watching this I am going to try adding shadows with a blending stump first. It makes more sense to draw faces that way.

Hullo Jess, I do enjoy your videos and I treasure your prints and I am encouraging everyone thinking about getting one or three to get going check your website and get some! I have several and the one in my living room gets the most compliments, yet the set in my computer room is seen the most! Weird how that works, Eh? YEP! Thanks Jess and Please keep that artistic journey going full steam ahead!
I alwways have noticed that I take on the expression of whatever it is that I am trying to draw. LOL. I also imagine myself petting the animals that I am drawing when I draw their fur. I know, I am crazy. ha ha. Continuing to LOVE your channel and recommend it to every one.
Can we talk about how organised and thought through Jess' editing skills are?!! I am so jealous and obsessed at the same time!😍😍🥰. Where can I get a print out of these art pieces, I geniunely want to put them up on my wall.

When you get to drawing I'm mesmerized, and now exploring the process it's amazing values. Jess, I have been meaning to ask this if you don't mind asking. I see in varsity they expect to draw from observation, what are they looking for? Is it how we observe values or what could it be? Thank you for coming to this video.
lol i also always make the same expression as the face i'm drawing. it's never even a conscious thing, i just catch myself doing it!
The most beautiful thing in your art is that variety you keep in your process and the different concepts you try always to convey. You always vary in mediums you use and thats amazing. You are the queen for me for four years now. You are the best ❤
