24min 3sec Guinness World Record longest apnea with O2 by Aleix Segura
Спорт
On February 28th during the 17th Mediterranean Dive Show held in Cornellà, Barcelona, Aleix Segura Vendrell has broken the Guinness World Record holding his breath underwater for 24 minutes and 3 seconds. This longest breath hold ever reported has been achieved after inhaling pure oxygen, differently than apnea sport competitions.
Aleix Segura is currently the static apnea world champion in all freediving circuits capable of holding his breath for over ten minutes in normal conditions and has taken the risk of this stunt challenge with the support of the qualified IEM medical crew supervised by Dr. Agustí Ruíz and monitored among others by three AIDA judges including Oriol Navarro, apnea responsible in the club Cavalldemar, to control and guarantee the fairness of the performance officially fulfilling the Guinness standards of this attempt. An indoor swimming pool was set for the show suitable for both performance and TV media coverage of this show and challenge.

Taking nothing away from this amazing achievement...reading the comments most people do not seem to understand that he has saturated his body with oxygen. The world record for a non-oxygen-assisted (normal) breath hold is 11:35 minutes by Stéphane Mifsud. This of course dramatically drops once you start swimming.
@Weird-City

Then this should not really count as anything. I find 11:35 minutes astounding. I got here after hearing Tom Cruise say he can hold for 6 minutes - impossible - I thought. Obviously I was wrong. I can only do it for a minute.

@@agurodriguez2027 I'm pretty sure that it's not just the mind. You can have a will of steel, you'll still most likely drown. It's been proven that smokers have less lung capacity, so if you smoke regularly and can already hold your breath for that long, chances are that if you didn't smoke, you would be able to hold it for much longer. Of course, you also need the will to do it, but will will only get you so far.

Evan Olson but guyss..you know you use a lot of O2 because you move but he has a skill just to “meditate” and stay rekax that makes him to use less oxygen.

ᄂ애인줘 their oxygen usage is being reduced to extreme levels due to them being able to control their heart rate and thus also their blood flow. At the same time they try to relax their muscles as much as possible so they require even less oxygen from the blood that is still circulating around their body. You can see him struggle to hold his breath somewhere around 24 minutes because his oxygen levels drop and his carbondioxide builds up in his blood which creates an impulse in your brain that tells you to start breathing. Has nothing do do with being in shock, it's about being an extremely efficient breather 😉

I read somewhere, that, with obvious training, if you are pure oxygen saturated, you don't even feel the urge to breath after the first 10 minutes or more, even on the first 15 minutes
@bam-skater

@@alamos8 It isn't lack of oxygen that triggers the urge to breathe, it's CO2 build-up

@@robinangelo9918 you can see around 15.30 of holding his breath his diaphram starts to spasm. For the rest of the record he is continuing to Spasm as his body's instinct is to breathe.
Just love the trust you have to put in your friends who are with you, like the guy watching him, checking that he does not float away, informing etc. No one else even near to interrupt! Props to them🥰
Don’t know size of his lungs but he must have gigantic balls
I didn't know the limits of a human. Now I know. I think I tried holding my breath in a swimming pool when I was a young kid, about 30 years ago. It didn't go past a minute, probably around 45 seconds.
