FREEFALL a freediver’s journey into the heart of the cenotes - Tulum, Mexico
An epic journey freediving the mystic waters of the Mexican cenotes!
Hold your breath with Vitomir Maricic and descend the sacred freshwater sinkholes.
All underwater footage was performed and shot on breath-hold, without any help from pure oxygen, external sources of air or underwater scooter, to a range of -10m to -30m for the deepest shots.
We are highly trained professional freedivers.

Thanks a lots! really warm my heart to touch people through photography and videography :-) Shots range from 5 to 30m for the deepest 👍🏻
Absolutely phenomenal! Loved every second! ❤
Using this is my water meditation
Beautiful! Well done combining freediving with high quality cinematography. Not easy! I’m still starting out on both fronts and getting these super clean shots and all these different angles and the lighting and white balance is really hard. And then the diving!

Thanks a lot man! Yeah it was a real job to put it together, I m really happy you appreciate. I learned Da Vinci for that project, as it is the goat of color grading. I am very happy with the result, it def took some time to get there! hope you make great stuffs also! cheers! Matt

@@cenotefreediving well you learnt it very well! I do a bit of coloring but doing it on underwater footage is new to me and so far, forgive the pun, I’m out of my depth 🤣
Amazing how with the duck dive you can get to that depth. Exceptional! Everything is!
Amazing project! Sound and video are insane :) OMG!

Those light rays are so majestic. An editing trick I think would have been fun around 2:20 would have been to have him emerge from the halocline upside down and then slowly rotate the camera to reveal which way is actually up. That way you maintain the screen direction from the previous scene and surprise the viewers a little bit when they realize what is happening. Then, you also wouldn't need that cross-dissolve at all. Either way, cool video and beautiful locations.
No ways this is insane
very cool!!!
By the way....... Makes me cry so amazing
This is superhuman!
Amazing and extraordinary beautiful. He glides so smoothly and in harmony. Great job from all safeties and cam guys. Videos like this motivate me to improve D(C)NF technique.

Wow
WoW!! Todo este tiempo sin respirar?
What suit do you wear for your dives? I wear a 3/2 to keep warm, what would be better?😊
I just came from there....my cenote was nothing like this one, but I was totally creeped out inside....the bottom was pitch black, and there were catfish swimming around me. I was utterly creeped out. This is amazing, however. WOW.
So how long did he hold his breath for?
Wow this is beautiful. Is the diver made of steel? I cant believe how deep he got with the no fins duck dive and one pull without any weight
If only I had oxygen like you
Damn to be able to hold ur breath that long...
👏🏻👏🏻
nossa tem que ter muiito ar para ficar tanto tempo nas profundezas😳
👏 🐳
Супер!!!
Beautiful piece! How long was the total breath hold and what was final depth, I bet some incredible metrics!

this is a combination of separate dive shots, world record dynamic apnea is about 4:30 with a depth of 134 m and a long freefall with agressive finning to the top, however these moves made on a video are extremely oxygen consuming, at least due to the fact that artistism is mostly a mental action, and to its dynamics, it is almost impossible to hold breath that effectively, as in a state of meditation, and when you only use whats needed in a moment to just move down or straight. When you cut out everything that doesnt serve going with least oxygen consumption, then probably a human may do so for 5 minutes on -50m.
Hi. Very beautiful video! What mask you used? Thank for information.

What happens if someone wants to swim in the mist? Is it safe to go that far?
@cenotefreediving

This Mist is actually a sulphur layer, trapped in between freshwater and saltwater, it is indeed toxic, but ok to cross it briefly like we do as freedivers :-)

Is it not a stolen idea? It looks like Guillaume Néry's "one breath around the world" redone...

This little short movie is totally inspired by the amazing work of Guillaume! Who would not, he literally defined the freediving underwater video scape :-) I know him personally and have all due respect for his work, being the first freediver to show the artistic side of freediving. I started freediving myself 10 years ago from guillaume's videos! This short film was a fun little project with vitomir in the idea of one breath, using sulphur clouds to "portal" between the cenotes we dive here everyday. I hope you liked it!
