Pauls consistency VS CCI Stingers: "Not enough difference to make a difference"
A video about the most popular caliber in the world shooting the most popular ammo sold is always good viewing.
From over 3 decades shooting Stingers, and it being popular with most of my friends, I can say it has some reputation for frustrating people when grouping on paper. It's still plenty accurate enough for things like coon hunting, but it certainly throws more flyers than some others.
@russelsellick316

Found the same. The only "Ultrasonic" 22 ammo I found to be reasonably accurate was Fiocchi and I couldn't readily find it so maybe fired 200/250 rounds of it.

I've tried stingers in a couple of CZ452's. These two rifles are very similar, the main difference being that one has a "standard" weight barrel, the other has a varmint barrel. The standard weight barrel literally shoots dinner plate sized groups at 50 meters, but the varmint barrel shoots as straight as a laser.

A couple of take away's for me... #1: I have been shooting CCI products, mainly mini-mags but also stingers, since the 70's. Reliable & consistent. I became familiar with Aguila during the pandemic. Effectively, in my area, it was the only ammo avail consistently during those couple years. I now have over 2000 rounds of each, the 40 grain, solid point, High Velocity & the 38 grain, hollow point, High Velocity. They are my GO-TO ammo for the 10-22. #2: Just how many couches has Paul skinned to produce all those meat targets??? Livin my best La Vida Loca here in south eastern Arizona

Ironically he won the Most Likely to Survive the Apocalypse award at the Gundies this year.
Ive shot Stingers for years and didnt even notice they were 32 grain until he said that. Makes it almost as light as an average 22 short projectile which is 29-31 grains
Have hunted with .22's for many years and compared to subsonic, and standard ammo, the Stinger is devastating on small game. The explosive affect of the increased velocity never ceases to amaze. The crack of the bullet is substantially louder than standard .22 however, so not neighborhood friendly. Switched to a PCP air rifle recently. Awesome for pesting when sound is an issue. Air rifles can be pellet picky for accuracy, so you have to experiment to find best type for your PCP rifle.

A great presentation, Paul. Thanks!
I would never fast forward through the chronograph session. I enjoy your demonstration and also the beautiful vista behind you.
I always appreciate you work. Please keep it coming.
As always, thanks, Paul. I place a high value on your opinions and your test results. I've had better luck with Stingers than with CCI Hypers out to 50 yards with a Henry H001. The range officer claims this is unusual, and your results confirm his observations. Now I have to go back with a different rifle and a different shooter for the Henry. It could very well be just me and the way I react to the "sharp" recoil of the Stingers.
I understand the purpose of the “meat eater” is; 1st kill small game without destroying too much meat, and 2nd provide a lead-free projectile for those who can’t legally hunt with lead.
Sir, always a pleasure to see how my opinion matches to your results, just superbly done, thank you.
Thanks for the great content, as always, very informative.

Loaded with Stingers in my pocket right now.
I've used a few different configurations of .22lr Aguila ammunition and have been pleased with its performance. However, I've only been using it out of pistols and revolvers shooting paper targets. But within that envelope, it has performed as well or better than the various CCI, Federal, Winchester, and SK I've also used, with the one exception being a couple trays of CCI Match Pistol 40gr LRN grouping better for me than all the rest. Your mileage may vary, but Aguila seems a bit like an underrated gem, given its typically lower price point.
I was definitely one of the ones that was complaining but as always, great video. I would definitely like to see a new video with the velocitor. Hopefully, they still exist somewhere. I have no understanding of why CCI produces them in such low numbers. Velocitor vs Minimag. I think everyone wants that video.
Great presentation.
Another great video.
Love the Aguila in my Tippman. Thanks for the review
Another excellent video.. entertaining and informative as always... 👍👍
Over the last 13 years I've done a lot of 50 yard Benchrest shooting in five shot groups. I shot a lot of various brands, velocities and bullet designs to determine consistent accuracy. Lapua, RWS, Aquila, SK, Eley, Norma , Wolf, Federal and CCI. I stayed away from Remington and Winchester because they are so dirty. Considering the prices of the premium brand ammo they were very accurate. A comparatively consistent accurate and at a more affordable price was the plain old CCI Standard Velocity. I still have a lot of the Lapua, RWS, Aquila, SK, Eley, Norma and Wolf and CCI. The ammo I shoot today for hunting is the CCI Standard.
Excellent comparison, thanks for sharing..
Good presentation I have been using the Aguila because it is the only 22 ammo I can find in bulk around here, I had avoided it because it wasn't made in USA, but am very happy with it, it functions in two pistols that will only work with hyper ammo. I like that they get there using a heavier bullet.

Nice video as always. You mentioned at the end that both the Aguila and Stingers had about the same impact on the Meat Target, but the Aguila ammo did seem to be quite a bit more consistent from an accuracy standpoint. I'm a CCI guy, but I think I need to give the Aguila Super Maximum a closer look. Thanks again for another nice video 👍

EDIT: 10/22 manual page 20 shows the stinger as slithly longer than regular .22lr ammo and says not to use them in target and tactical versions

Thank you for the information.
LOL, I fired up this video but the sound was off, and I was amazed, thinking to myself " Jesus, what has Ruger finally done to improve the 10/22???" THEN the sound came up and I find out Paul's NOT only NOT shooting at 100, NOT 75, hell not even at 50, but at 25 yards:( I began remembering the one my brother bought, tried for about a week to get to shoot accurately, finally gave up, and gave the thing away. I thought to myself, 'oh well, same old 10/22.' Then, I involuntarily lapsed into my 'chit eating grin' as I had instead bought a Marlin 60. Still got it- still shoots like a champ. In all fairness to Paul, who can really shoot, NOT horrible results from one of those rifles. Gotta give Ruger marketing creds though..
I love these videos.
.22 lr is a difficult round to manufacture consistently with such a small powder charge where a tenth of a grain is a significant percentage. Then throw in the priming compound which also provides quite a bit of the power and it's remarkable that we get ammo as good as it is. I once pulled a box of Remington Golden Bullets apart to inspect the powder and priming and found quite the variables...especially in the priming which also caused the occasional dud when the firing pin hit a light or non-existent area. For the billions of rounds made every year...I'm impressed even with the crappiest of 22lr's.
