That "supersonic" stuff might indeed be "a little harder to group" at extended range... but I can tell you first hand that I've sent many a groundhog across the rainbow bridge launching CCI Stingers from a 1960's era Remington 10T Targetmaster with an old Weaver fixed 6X scope at 100 yards and more. Minute of angle is all well and good, but with a .22, Minute of Squirrel will suit me just fine.

“Across the rainbow bridge” lol, my preference for ground hogs is Remington 2 3/4 00 buck shot but I have a stock pile of stinger just in case I run out. I used stingers this summer on some muskrats and at 50 yards it drops them dead. Good stuff.

If you can keep them from jamming failure to feed. I've put 300 through 7 different 22LR rifles & pistols and the only that is remotely usable is the Ruger 10/22. And I would still have 2 or 3 FTF each 25 round mag. Not worth the risk when Stingers don't cost too much more and have zero issues. On close inspection the ridges at the base of the bullet are a few thousands larger than most other rounds. I assume this is the problem.

  • @CMB911

@@thelastosirus that's interesting, I've never had any issues with them in any of my guns. I had an early model P22 that would hardly cycle anything other than Aguila, Stingers, or Mini Mags. Both of my 10/22s fling them every time. My GSG 1911-22 has had zero issues. My H&K 416-22 also loves them. I've always loved them because I rarely have any issues with them. Oh, one last semi-auto... The Phoenix HP22 loves them as well (and any revolver I've shot them with). It's always bizarre to me how each gun kinda has its own personality with ammo 🤷‍♂️. I should add, I've been using Aguila for probably 15 years and have fired thousands of rounds of the hypersonic variety.

Plinkster did a video on those cci coppers. Accuracy starts degrading after 75 yards, due bullet weight and design. Cci even says they’re designed for hunting purposes up to 75 yards, not match long range accuracy. Just companies trying to stay ahead of the curve on the communist state lead ammo bans.

I've used the CCI Copper a lot -- just target practice, never hunting. I've watched a lot of videos about it, and what comes out is that it's pretty accurate, but only up to about 75 yards, after which the accuracy falls off. I have to take their word for it, since I don't have a range where I can shoot that far: never more than 25 yds. Within that range, I've found the accuracy to be good.

Actually, High velocity (1200-1300 MV) 22LR ammo is more sensitive to SUPERSONIC velocity disturbances than to disturbances caused by transonic region. SK (read "Lapua") engineers are working on HV bullet tolerances and to narrow MV SD in order to make best ammo for 150-200 yards. The goal is to outperform any subsonic match 22LR beyond 100 yards!

What an emotional roller coaster I been on today. Watched “tools and targets” KZread guy who compared this stuff to the federal punch out of a 10 in Ruger. Chronograph average for the punch was 1450 fps with the Norma average closer to 1200 fps penetration test was anemic also 9 in vs 14 in in a gel block. . I did speculate that there may be some issue with inefficient powder burn out of the 10 in barrel. I do feel better now that I watched your video. Especially since I just bought 7 boxes from Norma Shooting that are arriving today. They did have 500 ct bricks of tac 22 on sale for $44.99, got some of that too but now it’s back to $80. I've tried the CCI Quiets and they shot like 6" groups at the same range that CCI-SV was under an inch. I've tried the CCI cb longs and while they offer pellet gun ballistics my pellet guns shoot more accurately. The Aguila 60 grain rounds generally shoot pretty slow but they need a 1:9 barrel before they shoot well, and options for similar ammo and compatible barrels are slim. 🤷 Match ammo is loaded for about 1050fps, not 750 or 1250. I can hit a fly in the eye every time. The stinger makes it hard to prove cause it takes the whole head off. On the pluses side no meat is ruined. Heard an artillery man say he cold do the same with his 105mm at 15 miles. As old as the .22 is it still never fails to provide a day full of fun for penneys. The shear number of fine firearms built for that round over the years is mind boggling.

Woman was hit with a 22lr at 1800 yards with a stray bullet as she got off a bus. She felt a pain like somebody had punched her with a fist on her ribs. Bullet penetrated her jacket and made a big bruise, nothing more serious.

Fist size for a supersonic .22 at 91 meters, good, but I think, if You send 3 shots as warm up and then use a real coloured dot, at 100m. You could an even better group. As it is within a zombie head at 150m I am satisfied. Keep the good work coming.

100 yds isn't too far for a 22 LR. When I was knee high to a grasshopper we would shoot coyotes at 150 yds. Then we got older and started reading the hunting magazines and they all said a 22LR was a 50 yd gun for "small game". Since we KNEW it was better than that, we took what we read with a grain of salt. Still, those mags started us looking for a good centerfire. Point being, people underestimate the 22LR and its acceptable accurate range.

I own quite a few 22lr & 22 mags,as with property,(location location location)22lr is bada$$ when ya hit the right location,

That light bullet is slowing down fast as soon as it leaves the barrel. I would love to see at what distance it slows down to the speed of sound, at that point the wake of the bullet catches up with it and disturbs it. The point where it crosses that line would be the longest accurate range. The key to tight groups at any caliber is to either remain above the speed of sound at all times, or leave the barrel under the speed of sound.

  • @acesup5845
    @acesup58452 жыл бұрын

The 2 close low shots were cold barrel shots (first 2 shots) the extreme bottom single shot was more than likely operator error, possibly a pull. The whole big group that you covered with your thumb is the actual group you could probably expect to shoot repeatedly once warmed up. Very nice shooting a 100yds. My $.02 or a grain of salt...

I love copper slugs! In hunting rifles, copper seems to work as well as lead, and a little copper in the meat is a lot healthier for you than a bunch of lead. Because energy is mass times the square of velocity, using lighter rounds usually produces _more_ energy. In that bolt action you're getting nearly 150 ft. lbs. from a .22 LR round--that's in magnum territory! After seeing gel tests, I've started carrying Underwood Extreme defender in my subcompact pistol, to get the most out of a 3" barrel. They shave a couple ounces from the loaded weight too, and that helps with comfort.

I suspect it's not so much the longer barrel as much as it is it being a bolt action since all the energy is used to send the projectile instead of also having to cycle the action

Its not just the barrel. The 10 22 is a semi auto so your using part of the pressure to cycle the rifle rather push the slug down range. Cheers

Many people these days are so uneducated when it comes to modern 22lr ammo. They still think that old mentality, like its only for shooting rodents and soda cans. You have excellent personal defense rounds like Federal Punch and Winchester silvertip that will penetrate 16 inches out of a pistol and well past that out of a rifle, all while doing some nasty damage along the way. This looks like another great 22lr round, thanks

I'll have to keep an eye out for these. Have always been a huge fan of the CCI Stingers (1640fps) which were necessary to break in my GSG 1911 (~400 rounds).
