.22 LR Group Comparison Sixteen Ammos at 50 Yards.

Спорт

Down at the farm shooting a bunch of .22 LR ammo with my Ruger 10/22 from 50 yards with the gun in the Lead Sled. Some ammo was good, some was better and some was so so. You decide. Thus, if you put my mediocre shooting along with so so ammo, no wonder I can't hit the small targets! But hit or miss, can't beat being out shooting!

@@bobcatforever3485 that's how it should be, albeit, on a calm day, with same rifle throughout. Fine job overall. Very rare, shooters use every ammo they can find. Need to say, no two weapons are the same. Can't arbitrarily say what works well for one machine will work the same in another. Should do that for every rifle you have. Again, fine job. Thanks.

Same here. Out of the big 4 major U.S. brands (Remington, CCI, Federal and Winchester), Winchester usually gives the worst accuracy from any type of firearms and the least reliability in semi-auto firearms. This is from my over 30 years of shooting 22 LRs in 20 different type of firearms.

Right now, I'm trying to pick ammos the I have never shot before just to see how they run thru my .22's when I can go shooting again. I still have a fair amount of .22 bulk ammo that I got when it was $20 to $25 for 500 rounds (sometimes even less). Thanks again, take care and happy plinking!

Good video! I've been shooting the CCI Blazer with my 10/22 at 100 yards with aperture sights for a while now, results of this test were exactly what I expected. Same with the Stingers, they ended up being less accurate like in the video. I first started shooting Remington and then Winchester bulk box jacketed hollow points but I got sick of finding bullets loose or cocked in their shells and they were also giving me a failure to feed at least once per mag with some bullets getting the jacket marred or scraped off by the mag feed lip. I got a whole bunch of Blazer for almost the exact same price as the bulk garbage and couldn't be happier.

The only trouble with accuracy testing 22lr ammo is that literally every gun will shoot them differently. My friend has two functionally identical Ruger 10/22's and they both shoot a particular ammo best. And he also has another .22 rifle that shoots another completely different ammo more accurately.

Here are some notes for you: #1 I have the exact same hat as you do...heheh, #2 You have wind drift on your shots, #3 Hyper velocity ammo seems to be inherently inaccurate and beats the heck out of your semi-auto receiver(not good) and lastly, in order to obtain a reasonable group per ammo type/brand, you need to shoot more than just 5 shots...season the barrel to that specific ammo. Still, I enjoyed your presentation. When I had my 1022, circa 1986, CCI Blazer and Aguila( ah-gee-la) Standard velocity were the most accurate in my specific rifle. A buddy of mine had a 1022 and it preferred Winchester Wildcat...go figure...lol

Just two days ago I repeated this same shooting with a few different ammos and the hot ammos just don't group for me. Trying to do groups I prefer CCI Std Vel or Eley Club but was surprised by a couple of the other ammos. Really enjoyed this. I have several of the brands you tested out in my stash. Seems like the blazer did really well. I have good luck with blazer. Feeds well and all. Maybe it's just my imagination. But it seems to leve the gun dirtier than most other bands.

Roger. Thanks for viewing. And I appreciate your comment. I had just shot some Blazer about a week ago thru my Ruger Mark III handgun that I had put a scope on just for the fun of it. I could not hold that gun still with the scope up so close to my face. That video may never see the light of day. But I digress, I was told that the Blazer was very similar to the more expensive Mini Mag?? I have also had good luck with the Blazer, that is all I shot a few years back. I don't really know about how dirty it is compared to other ammo. Thanks again and take care.

I've never been able to find that Eley here in Louisiana. I may order some of the club ammo though. If the rifle was zeroed in for it just about all of the ammo is accurate enough to take small game. Thanks for efforts you put in and stay safe.

Jason, Thanks for viewing and for your comment. I don't know that a lot of gun stores carry the ELEY ammo. I generally order mine thru Sportsmansguide.com . I just checked their website and the ELEY Target is on backorder and the CLUB is not available (as is most ammo right now). I do agree that with a gun sighted in on a specific ammo a person should be able to hit small game. I think I was shooting 2.5" wide pop cans from 50Y (on the bench) with the Thunderbolt ammo and I'm not a great shot. Thanks again and you take care.

I use ,CCI standard velocity in all my .22s. It's easy on the guns, accurate and reliable.

Terry. Thanks for viewing and commenting. I agree with you. I shoot all kinds of ammo in my videos, but my standard for comparison is CCI Standard Velocity. It is easy to find and groups well as for what it is, and dose not cost an arm and a leg like some of the match ammos. Thanks again and take care.
