Excellent review! Uses 2 rifles, 5 different types of ammo, no preconceived ideas (no sponsors involved), described results and even showed target results with corresponding ammo used. Simply down to earth, good job. Thanks!

I remember when the 550 bulk pack from Walmart in the early 2000s was $8.50, but I had great luck running it through my Savage Stevens model 99, which also happened to be my first firearm ever that I bought from Walmart as well and it was only $89 haha, but this was in New York back long before New York banned all further sales of semi-auto long guns. Now instead of getting 550 rounds for under $10, we are paying over $30 for 350 rounds or less 😵

I know how you feel Bruce. Those were the good ol' days. The Federal 550s were the first bulk packs that worked well in most of my firearms. Back then they were the gold standard of bulk packs.

Throughout the pandemic i discovered aguila. I normally shoot remington golden bullets, but they became unobtainable. I have to say after several thousand of them shot now i am dang impressed. I have went through several bricks in a row with zero malfunctions or duds. It was the most impressive 22 ammo i have ever seen, I wondered what the few people were talking about in reviews about their boxes of aguila 22 being full of duds. Then after a couple years of shooting solely aguila 22, i opened a fresh box of 250. The bullets would almost stick to your fingers they were so heavily coated with wax. I would get 1-2 failures to fire out of every 10 rounds until i got to the very bottom of the box. The last 30 rounds were all duds, soaked with wax to the point im guessing it ruined the powder and primer. Im on my 3rd box of them now in a row that i bought that is like that. I do hope all the others i put on the shelf are from good batches. When they are on they are phenomenal. But from what ive seen they put out some bad batches now and then. Thanks for confirming the accuracy. I have both the 38 gr and the 40’s. Every 22 i have seems to like both. The 40’s out of my lever gun i have the most experience with are tack drivers.

I ABSOULTELLY love the AGUILA 22 Super Extra ammo and I have tried almost all the other 22LR ammo (except CCI which can be 3-5 times as expensive). The COPPER plating leaves absolutely NO lead build-up in my 8 shot Smith and Wesson 22LR revolver barrel rifling. EVERY other manufacture's ammo I have tried has left lead inside the barrel that was extremely hard for me to remove. NOT so with this Aguila 22LR ammo. In addition, I have shot thousands of rounds and maybe 1 failure to fire and that is it - one failure. On sale it cost .04 cents a round so I wait for that price and then I buy in bulk. I am 100% converted to this ammo from this manufacturer and will be a life long customer.

@@texmexshoots Thanks T-M, coincidently I cleaned my 22LR Smith & Wesson revolver today after shooting 400 rounds of AGUILA 22 Super Extra ammo and there was ZERO lead build up in my barrel riffling. It use to take me up to an hour to remove the lead that other bullets left by wrapping strands of pure copper around a brass cleaning jag tip. NOW, no lead build up so no copper strands and no scrubbing efforts !

Here in Virginia I have only been finding Aguila and Federal auto match and just lately cci 40 grain lead nose. Now I do have quite a few thousand rounds of other types I’m just talking about what is around currently. Good video. Thanks for making and posting! I've noticed, too, that the Aguila has an odd smell. Also, when I fire the Aguila out of my S&W 43C (revolver), I frequently have trouble extracting the casings from the cylinder. Not sure why, but it's happened enough that I no longer use the Aguila in my revolver. On the other hand, no problems with Aguila in my Taurus TX22 (semi-auto).

Thanks for watching Mr. Miller. I figured the smell was the "Eley primer" since it smelled similar to the Eley Target ammo I shoot. However it may the the waxy coating on the casings. That may also be what is causing the difficulty in extraction from the cylinder.

A little late on commenting. this is a video I'd like to do sometime as well because I have so many different bulk packs to choose from. Anyway, the smell of the Aguila is because they are Eley primed or at least they used to be. I have many bulk packs and that was a marketing point as they printed it on the box. I used to shoot .22lr target and silhouettes to go along with my regular pistol Silhouette shooting with my 1983 Ruger MkII Model 678 Target. I bought some Ramline 12 shot magazines that were a heck of a lot better than the 10 rd (8 really) steel lip factory mags. Not one single failure ever with those plastic mags, easy to load all the way down to the last round. I still have them and the pistol. I bought a brick of Remington green and white box 40 gr. round nose lead bullets and took them to the 25 yard police range and used sand bags to sight the pistol in and I shot quarter inch groups at 25 yards. 1/4 inch with that ammo!! Then we later chronographed it at 975 to 1025 fps out of the 6 7/8th" barrel. Anyway after shooting those tight groups I went back to the store I bought the 1st brick at and bought 4 more 500 rd bricks of the same batch. I loaded it into my 10-22 rifle with a 30mm 3x-7x scope and it held less than one inch at 50 yards at over 1200-1250 fps. Any .22lr ammo that only deviates plus or minus 25 fps is match quality and I had 2000 rounds of it at a penny a round. I would have bought more, but that was all they had of that batch. I never found any 22lr ammo that matched it.

Surprising? I enjoyed you video, I shoot the same .22's that you do. I did my initial tests using just a 10/22 over 10 years ago and had the same results. For practice and hunting varmints, all I use is the Aguila. It's half the price of CCI, the accuracy and reliability is about equal. The big savings is the cost. Aguila is half the cost of CCI. For serious target and competition, I've found that Eley shoots the best out of my guns. But you pay for that accuracy! Great video brother!

I ran comparisons using SK, Federal, Norma, Aguila, CCI, Winchester, I was shooting dime sized groups at 50 yards. Spendy, but well worth it. SK was the close second. The Norma wasn't bad, about tied with CCI. All were standard velocity, 40 GR Round nosed rounds. For the bulk ammo, Aguila Super High CPRN's win in a landslide. When you change ammo you can be changing bullet lube and powder fouling that can affect accuracy and functionality of semi auto firearms. Five or ten rounds to season the barrel before groups might tell you a different story. Try a Volquartsen extractor for the 10/22 to reduce the failure to eject stoppages. I haven't done it my self yet but cleaning the chamber with wet and dry patches between brands might help the function of the semi.

That is “terrible ammo” your only shooting at 50 yards push out to 100 where SD start to really matter.. also those aren’t good groups at all. I did enjoy the video An don’t mean to sound like a jerk just the fact as far as the distance an SD are concerned.. thanks!!

I appreciate the comment Jeffrey. I guess you can only expect a certain amount of accuracy out of a bulk pack. They aren't typically going to shoot like Eley or other quality ammunition. Plus I'll readily admit I am not the best shooter in the world, and my rifles don't have target grade barrels. But a man can dream 😂

Again testing accuracy of 22lr outdoors is so hard to evaluate that it makes testing just hit and miss. Find a good 50-yard indoor range and perform your tests, that is the only way you can evaluate true accuracy.

I appreciate the advice John. The only indoor ranges around here only allow for one hour rental. That wouldn't give me enough time to test much. However I've been waiting for a calm day to do some other testing. I'll be swabbing the barrel between different brands and seasoning with a few rounds before putting it on paper. Hopefully that will help me get more consistent results.

My 50-yard range crosses a bunch of little dips and valleys in a wooded area. Over the years I have noticed that sunny days are hard to get a good grouping and the only thing I could think of was heat inversion, so I did some research and found out that even snipers have to account for this. So many variables, but that is what makes it fun to shoot 22lr. @@texmexshoots

That's some good advice. I knew heat could cause some optical lensing, but never thought I would be a good enough shot for it to matter. 😅 @@Anoldphotographer

It was very odd to hear Aguila pronounce correctly! The way it's pronounce on most videos drives me nuts. And I'm a white guy. It's like when people say halapeeno. It's a pet-peeve of mine.

Thanks for watching Allen! Yeah, as someone who grew up spending time in both The Unites States, Mexico, and the border which culturally is its own weird thing that is neither US or Mex, I'm accustomed to many mispronunciations. 🤣 But I'm sure I'm guilty of it too. You can hear me stammer in most of my videos.

I tried ordering a pepperoni pizza with jalapeños on it over the phone in new york and the dude taking my order didnt know what I was talking about, so i explained what the topping looked like and he said “oh the Juh-lap-e-nose, yeah we got those”. For once i was grateful for the less butchered pronunciation of halapeenos.

OOhhh NOW I see... An LBT is some fancy bull Barrel with no iron sights!!! I KNOW I'm wrong in this BUT I'm stubborn and GEN X raised by not BOOMERS but THE ULTIMATE GEN... WW2 and NO IRONS... NO SALE!!! I will NOT buy a Rifle w/o Iron sights UNLESS it's an AR and I can add them w/out a machinist.... Scopes are GREAT but a Rifle w/no sights = SALE!!!

Yes sir! The LVT (Light Varmint Target) has a thicker barrel profile than your standard 10/22, but doesn't have the full bull barrel of the target version. It starts as a bull and tapers down to the muzzle. And you are correct, no sights. However it does come with a scope rail pre-installed.
