2024 Police Memorial Day Service

As the week of May 15 marks National Police Week, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office took pride in holding its annual memorial service leading up to the national remembrance.
Families of those who gave the ultimate sacrifice were in attendance, along with hundreds of active officers from the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office. Members of JSO were joined by several of our surrounding local agencies, along with numerous State and Federal partners.
Also in attendance, Jacksonville City Council President Ron Salem along with members of the Mayor's Office.
On this somber occasion, Sheriff T.K. Waters revealed an addition to the Police Memorial Wall from the early 1900's. Deputy Sheriff Peder Thomas Johnson lost his life as a result of gunfire while serving our community on Sunday, December 21, 1913.
With this addition, the list is now at 65 officers who gave the ultimate sacrifice for this community.
