Definitely agree with Oppenheimer at #1 but it is possible for Killers of the Flower Moon to win Best Picture imo

It will probably be decent but CGI looks poor in the trailer and will be very hard to sum Napoleons life up in one movie

12:12 for whatever reason, Best Actress is actually a fairly frequent category to give to a winner whose movie wasn’t nominated for Picture (see: Julianne Moore - Still Alice, Renee Zellwegger - Judy, Meryl Streep - The Iron Lady), so Fantasia is still a solid bet.

It would continue the streak of Diane Warren getting the most random movies Oscar nominations.

Expect Dune Part Two to get even more nominations than the first one chapter did back in 2021. Part Two looks even better and incredible than the first part and is a sure win to not only get nominated for Best Picture and Best Director but could also WIN! Expect multiple Oscar wins next year!

Oppenheimer is my favourite movie of the year. I hope it wins big, specifically I'd love to see Cillian win best actor. RDJ and Emily also deserve nominations!!!

There are actually two songs by Diane Warren that could be nominated so far. The first is "found" from the netflix animated film "The Magician's Elephant" sung by Nick Yourke, the second would be "the fire inside" from the hulu biopic "Flamin Hot" sung by Becky G.

After Greta Gerwig just became the first ever woman to solely direct a film that made a billion dollars, I can’t see her missing in director. I feel like that narrative will be way too strong to ignore.

I think all these experts are highly overestimating films like The Holdovers and the Color Purple and underestimating films like Poor Things, The Killer.

In animated we have to look out for The Peasants, new movie from the creators of Loving Vincent which will be done in the same style (trailer is already out). They recently announced it will have world premiere at TIFF

If WB ends up pushing back Dune 2 to NEXT YEAR then Color Purple might get in. I hope Dune 2 isn't pushed back bc that would happen specifically in lue of the strikes and negotiations falling through.

@@thecinemascribe I don’t think it’s the same thing, Spencer would have been a weird nomination anyway compared to what did get nominated so I understand why that didn’t take off. Also, El Conde’s Cinematographer is Edward Lachman (Carol & Far From Heaven and many other Todd Haynes films) whose a bigger name.

I'm dead certain Dial of Destiny will get into score. It'll be a John Williams namecheck for a pretty good score to a franchise he has an incredible legacy with. People need to predict around there only being 4 open slots in score, because one of them is as locked as the inevitable Diane Warren in song, imo.

Given how rarely black women win let alone are even nominated in the leading actress category, Fantasia’s chances are slim. Also the Oscars don’t really have a track record of putting animated films in the best picture category but Spiderverse 2 is well deserving. Oppenheimer is also my #1 pick this year for pretty much everything. Amazing biopic

Bill Camp deserves consideration for Supporting Actor for Sound of Freedom

Leo is not the number one in the list so the list is wrong :p But all jokes aside, I think you have very good predictions. At the moment I have Cillian at number one and Leo at number two. Every critic that saw KOTFM in Cannes are saying its Leo's best performance. So I seriously think he is going to be number 1 or two, and its a Scorsese movie where theres a good chancce both De Niro and Lily Gladstone win a lot of awards, and they will 100% campaign for Leo in their speeches. We all know how good he is and if this is his best performance he has to be in the race to win. Edit: Also in my opinion there is no way Barbie gets a BP nomination. I might be completely wrong, but usually BP nominees have at least an adapted screenplay or film editing nomination to back it up. Barbie's screenplay was terrible. And the movie was not funny one single time. So I don't see Barbie getting a screenplay nomination unless Dune and The Color Purple get delayed, but even if this happens it would need a miracle to get in. And theres also 0 chance it gets a film editing nomination, so I really don't understand why are people predicting Barbie to get a BP nom. Unless its just because of the box office, but I don't think thats enough.

I 100% agree. Barbie getting in for Best Picture would be cringe. It has a great box office, but the screenplay is very weak. There are movies like Oppenheimer, KOTFM, Poor Things, The Color Purple, Dune part 2, Across the Spider-Verse and all of these are adapted screenplays, so for Barbie to get a screenplay nomination it would be really hard, and like you mentioned, the screenplay is not even good to compete with movies like these.

sometimes getting screenplay isn't solely derived from dialogue, its also the idea that can propel it into a nomination. Like it or not, it is undeniable how original and unique its screenplay is in changing the way we view barbie

Emily Blunt could pull a Kim Basinger- all those men in 'LA Confidential' vying for nominations, all great- cancelled each other out and made/helped Kim as the mainly only female presence get the nom and win.

I think Barbie is being underestimate. Not sure it can win, but it's higher than most people think and come awards season will overperform. Another one to look out for is Poor Things. Think it'll be the surprise of the year. Spiderman while a great film, think the competition is too tough this year for it to get in.

Don't expect history to chance because idiotic left wingers say so. The majority of academy voters are still old, white men despite all the hoopla from the media.

So I have to disagree from the rip…..Logic would of course dictate that Oppenheimer would be nominated for Best Picture…..BUUTTTTT it doesnt appear to meet The Academy’s new “DEI” standards🙄So dont be surprised if its not there on Nomination day

I think Gosling has a good chance to win, but I don't think the competition for best supporting actress in 2022 was as strong as the best supporting actor is going to be this year.

Napoleon should be on this list rather than Barbie. I'm not saying Barbie wasn't a big hit and probably the most popular but that doesn't make it an Oscar worthy film

Dune is not happening in 2023. Oppenheimer is a stone bore. Downey Jr just does his same tics. We've seen that. A gazillion times. Nolan ditto. Barbie has to win for Gosling and screenplay, as well as ancillary technicals. Why? Because Gerwig took a nothing IP and made a magnificent film. Nolan just did 3 hrs of dimly lit dialogue.

As a big Oppenheimer fan, I’m pushing for multiple supporting actor noms. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a film with that many excellent performances so would love to see it be rewarded for that by getting multiple acting noms, best case scenario for me would be it pulling a Godfather & getting 3 supporting actor noms to fill out the category with De Niro & Gosling.
