This is basically a more driver-friendly 765LT. Same Wing, same rear design mesh, same engine performance, same 0-60. If you like the rawness of McLaren you'd love the 765, if you want a more refined experience, buy this.

@@dom7098 it’s roughly the BHP of the model. So eventually they’ll more to the 800’s I’d imagine, wouldnt be surprised if a 800lt comes out based on this

I am noticed that too.

Was in the market for a 2 door sports coupe and was looking into the McLaren 750s. But ultimately decided to get a 2012 Honda Civic SI due to it having more trunk space. Total cargo volume in the civic is 11.7 cubic ft vs McLarens 7 cubic ft. It was a no brainer for me.

@@cyjan3k823 Most definitely. It showcases the cars so much better. The passing planes and background stuff was kind of funny and endearing. But to be honest it's always been about the quirks and his driving experience with each car. It's never been about the production of his videos. I think we all watch the other channels for that stuff. Doug being the analytical guy he is I'm sure he took this into account 😆🤷🏽‍♂️

@@AlbertWeijersyeah the crazy thing is that most of the audio issues can be fixed in editing, and I’m not sure why his editor doesn’t address them.

Holy smokes what a car to have to review so soon!!! ❤ I wish it was different in terms of styling but hopefully the quality control from McLaren is fixed. I know the Artura was delayed until now for said issues.

You know, they've done this before. If you think about it, the MP4-12C was 25% updated to become the 650S. So, it's not the first time we've seen a milked design.

Yay!! I love how it’s now EVEN MORE complicated to differentiate McLaren models.

the main reason why mclaren launches so many similar cars one after another is that customers can switch from one model to another everytime they break down, more or less every 3 weeks, and not get bored

Some of the McLaren models are actually better than others.

That blue is unreal. I feel like once you've driven any of the 540c, 570s, 600lt, 625c, 650s, 720s, 765, or 750s, you've driven them all.

You're very wrong. They each have a very different driving experience. Even from coupe to spider of the same model, you can tell a difference.

Was hoping he would talk about the crazy amount of mesh vents in the rear/engine bay for heat. Looks more raw and open compared to the regular 720

Loving the easter eggs this new McLaren has, from the Kiwi bird button for those custom settings harkening back to Bruce McLaren's New Zealand roots, and the display selector dial with the stylized silhouette of McLaren's HQ in England. And seeing it now, it looks as if the 750S's rear wing looks like one huge stylized Kiwi bird, again a visual shout-out to Bruce McLaren's homeland. As for the car itself, I think that despite the styling being old and all, one cannot deny the fact that the original version of this (the 720S) and the newly updated variant straight RIPS.

I wish Doug also referred to the 765lt spider and pointed out some of the differences between the two, since 750 sits in the middle.

The 765 was a limited quantity run and was discontinued awhile ago. The 750 has some tech from the 765 but ultimately the regular production version that replaces the 720S. Not much point in comparing a standard production car to a limited edition.

I watched this video last night as I rocked with my 12-hour old newborn son to sleep. I know he didn’t comprehend any of it, but I wouldn’t have watched any other channel while I got to do this for the first time. Thanks for always providing entertainment, Doug! Just don't look too close at the body panel fitment.

Just a side note there are 2 storage pockets 1 in either door, they are like little mini glove boxes and lock when the door opens. Also the rough shifting on the highway is called ignition cut and happens only when the car is in sport mode.

There is an interior storage pocket hidden inside the door in front of the door handle and below the speaker that flips open. its hard to find if you dont know where to look but its convenient for both driver and passenger, about big enough to fit a sunglasses case and some papers.

The 720s I feel like is the car that brought McLaren mainstream. They had the iconic f1 but this car feels like it is how the huracán is to Lamborghini. There’s a ton of different variants and all of them are awesome and identifiable.

I dunno, I recently drove a 540C, and it was a really great car and barely 120k. There are oodles of these out on the market, and the new ones barely look any better and drive... in the same league. Honestly I have no idea why you'd buy a new McLaren. And don’t say new is more reliable 😂

I started watching your 1990 Camry review, when I saw the thumbnail for this. Obviously, the Camry will have to wait. School got cancelled for weather so Im home with my 2 sidekicks for the day. Lots of car videos to be binged

I would love to have Doug show me the quirks and features whenever I take delivery of a new car.

I’m 20 years old and I clearly remember the first McLaren 12c on Top Gear being driven by James May. For me the lack of heritage has allowed me to grow up with the brand. Although they have realised a lot of cars I feel they are still finding there footing and it’s not to say that any of those cars have been failures (par the GT?). I don’t like the idea of it being just a rich man’s car, and I’m sure for my generation it won’t be.

The handling went from 9 to 10 but the fun factor went down ? What's going on there

Well... I don't see these that often that they would start to feel allready done... Still looks like a supersonic techno-shark for the road and I love it!

I find doug's assessment of what makes an "enthusiast car" a little frustrating. Sure, brand history and can be something enthusiasts desire, but it is not what makes a car an enthusiast car, it makes it a collector car. It this same video, he praises the handling, power, and steering, three things that enthusiasts desire.

ive always loved that 720s body, its my favorite design from mclaren! im glad they kind of kept it with this car!

Styling is nearly 7 years old, but seems older than that to me. Probably because all McLarens tend to look the same and the 570 came out even a few years before this. Gets stale.

If I could choose any supercar (at a reasonable price for a super car) I would for a Mclaren 765lt in curacao blue! They look CLEAN!

That "Kiwi" looks remarkably like an icon for the rear spoiler to me!

I wish they would refresh the front end design of most of their cars

Great looking car, I always struggle where all these Mclarens lay in the hierarchy. The Artura is a fast 'affordable' option and I see there are 765lt and halo products such as Senna. The majority seem to do a very similar job (just my thoughts)

What a cool machine, but I would take a 911 Turbo S or GT3 over it. Or save a lot more and just get a Z06

I totally agree with the lack of image that this brand has. It’s not a car enthousiast manufacturer, I look at this, it’s ok, it’s performant, fast… but it does not make me dream of it. I prefer a good old 911

Doug says this isn't a supercar for enthusiasts, but I disagree, because I think "enthusiasts" means people who actually want to drive and enjoy their supercar. What this isn't is a supercar for "collectors," because it's just another McLaren, but that's actually a good thing from an enthusiast perspective, because these will actually get driven and won't just be purchased and then locked up to appreciate in value.

The Kiwi logo on the button. It is actually not just to appreciate Bruce McLaren heritage. That Logo is the actual 'Speedy Kiwi' logo used by the racing team McLaren for many years

I find the front of this car looks a lot like the Taycan

(ahem, 911) Even if you don't like the new Ferrari design language, you can't dispute the differences over time between the 458, F8, SF90 etc...

they could have put a weight sensor on the cover compartment to make it impossible for you to remove it while there is stuff stored

The arrows on the underside of the door to open the rear cover should really be turned 90 degrees , seems like an obvious oversight.

There are storage cubby holes on both doors, you just drop the little flaps.
