2024 Lucid Gravity Review // EXCLUSIVE First Drive + Walkaround

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

The 2024 Lucid Gravity (pricing TBD; under $80,000 USD starting), is a brand new seven seater luxury EV expected to arrive late next year. While its specs aren’t fully finalized yet, Lucid anticipates the Gravity to have a range of over 440 miles (708 km) and a 0-60 mph time of just 3.5 seconds. It has a cabin optimized for interior space and comfort, and has optional air suspension that Lucid cheekily calls ‘Zero Gravity’. But how is it to drive? Thomas and James are excited to find out! We hope you enjoy the episode. And then subscribe, silly.

@@inublossom I admit, that's something Tesla could work on (and is currently working on). But their software and integration is so well-developed and so advanced compared to other carmakers that it kind of does justify the price (somewhat). And it really is a lot of car for the $40K you're paying, especially if you look at what the competition is doing. But I do admit, again, that Tesla should work on its build quality, as well as putting in more luxury features into its top models (S, X, & Cyberbeast), such as massaging seats, ambient lighting, and a center console fridge. (well, the Cybertruck already has ambient lighting, so just the S/X need that lol)

Also just sitting down after a walk, and enjoying the nature instead of rushing back. Realistically 95% of the time, I would just put a thing in front, so it is a frunk and it is safe storage for valuables, so that people cannot break in without an angle grinder.

Kinda hope there's an option to ditch the massive piece of glass in the roof. I don't know why manufacturers keep doing that, especially in EVs. Literally nobody wants it, it's going to leak at some point (when, not if), and it adds a ton of weight to the top of the vehicle. Other than that, I really like seeing the Lucid Air design language reflected in the Gravity, the clam-shell hatch, the minimalist light-bar front end, etc. Really cool.

Loved the in-depth review, guys! I agree that the Lucid Gravity seems like a well-thought-out machine and I appreciate the car's prioritization of comfort and functionality without skimping on speed. The unique styling does set it apart, and I'm excited to see how it fares upon its final production. Those added features like the Sanctuary mode and occasions do add a unique touch. Also, appreciate your sense of humor in the video. Keep up the good work! 👍🚗💨

This is simply so much more tasteful than any of the competing legacy luxury SUVs (ICE or EV). Plus the fact that this actually takes advantage of, well, the advantages, of ground up EV design so much better than any legacy brand EV offering, means that I do really hope this finds its footing in the marketplace and is a commercial success. If I was in the market (which I am admittedly not) for a 100K luxury people mover, this would be my pick.

The Lucid Gravity will be the market leader in terms of range, performance, efficiency, aerodynamics, etc. This would also make a great platform for a pickup truck just like what Rivian has done with the R1S & R1T. It already has a massive frunk and adjustable air suspension for off road capability - so I predict an SUV variant will be made at some point.

If I was wealthy enough to own one of these. I could see myself using the front trunk seating while camping or doing some night/landscape photography. Just setup the gear right in front and not get tired from all the standing or need to carry a chair. Useful but niche. I like car manufacturers thinking of what else is possible to use the extra space for than just storage. And the different locations they can appear in. Very hopeful for Lucid to continue to develop interesting cars and maybe one day release something below 40k.

I love what Lucid does and, even though SUVs aren’t mine, I think this is more attractive than the competitors. I am a huge fan of when companies include steering wheel UX controls that just make logical sense. Like, you get two D-pads with select buttons in the middle to control UX elements on either side of the gauge cluster. I also appreciate that there are actual buttons beneath the center screen and a volume wheel. Lucid has done a good job of trying to maintain enough legacy controls that you don't have to feel lost in the touch-screen every time you want to do simple things. I'm also glad that they kept the Dream Edition a halfway reasonable price for a luxury EV SUV, since the Dream Edition is legitimately as much performance as anyone realistically ever needs. It's plenty fast enough for you to lose your license in a hurry. I'm curious if they're using a hybrid air suspension since they previously mentioned in some interviews that the reason they opted for conventional coilovers in the Air was due to the superior ride quality they were able to achieve with them in that car. I'm also fairly certain that they were designing the frunk of the Gravity and realized that, with it's height, they probably needed to create a lower front loading sill, so they notched it out, then went "Oh, that kinda looks like a seat." Got an engineer to sit in it and went "Y'know, Land Rovers have that split tailgate that you can sit on, what if we did that, but on the front?"
