    The bore and stroke of the Z900 is: 73.4mm x 56mm The bore and stroke of the Ninja is: 77 mm X 56mm The compression ratio of each is 11.8:1 (Z900RS has a lower compression ratio of 10.8:1) Basically what I'm saying is, that's true. I don't know the specifics of what may be different in each engine as the Z900 and Z900RS do have some different components, (so the Ninja may have other component differences) but this was one of the reasons that I bought the Z900RS SE instead of the Ninja 1000SX. They're actually MORE similar than people think. I actually have better front brakes, and better rear shock than the Ninja, but the Ninja has a number of technology advantages. The insurance companies in my area see these bikes as very different bikes with the Z900 and Z900RS not ending up on a restricted list that places the Ninja in a much more expensive price class.

    Yeah. The Z900 is a very manageable sport bike for an experienced rider. I would keep the traction control on level 1 at least, to help you keep the front wheel on the ground, and you also have the option of running it in low power mode as you get used to it, but I'd imagine that you get comfortable with it pretty quickly. I have the Z900RS SE which is the same powertrain with a different tune. It's awesome!

    I'd start with something a little smaller. It will be less expensive to buy, less expensive to insure, and you'll probably learn to be a better rider so when you do get a bike like this, you can really enjoy it. You want to go out and have fun with a new motorcycle, not be exceptionally careful all the time. Adding skill will allow you to relax and enjoy it, and it's much easier to add skill on a lower powered bike, in my opinion.

    I picked it as my first-ever bike. In the beginning, I ran it on the rain mode to get used to it, which is like 60% of engine power and full traction control. Now I use the road mode, and I don't feel that it is too powerful (I feel it liniar), but it depends on how the rider rides it. So it has a lot of power if you need it.

    I would have to check the VIN but I would assume Japan? I will say that the idea of people worrying which country the assembly plant is in, is a dated concept. Modern manufacturing allows worldwide standards to be very high, so I wouldn't let country of manufacture influence your decision in 2024 in the same way that it may have in 1994.

    I think these days the reason for less Cylinders is to make a more affordable machine, the newer four cylinder superbikes etc, tend to be horrendously priced, not affordable for Joe Public, so to get round this they drop one or two Cylinders, which means they can produce newer machines at a lower price. There are a few exceptions to this, and the Z900 is one of them!!

  • @PeterLoweOne

    @PeterLoweOne

    2 ай бұрын

    Emissions is another reason. The way they measure emissions, a 4 cylinder 900 cc bike does MUCH worse than a 2 cylinder 900 cc bike. That's the biggest reason that we don't see many 4 cylinders anymore, and why they are likely to be a dying breed.

    I can promise you right now that these bikes are tried true and tested! They are one of the most reliable bikes out there. I’ve had Yamahas with no start issues, Hondas with electrical issues, Suzukis with paint issues and Kawasakis with some paint issues aswell, everything is fixable and mechanical things can have small failures. But the z900 I have to say has been by far the easiest to own in terms of reliability. All the Japanese makes are phenomenal and built to extreme reliability. Just get it fixed and enjoy. It will be something minor and if it’s under warranty they will fix no worries. Stay up friend
