We've had a Santa Cruz Limited for close to 3 years. We love it. We haven't had a single thing go wrong, and haven't paid for any maintenance. It's extremely comfortable, and fairly quick, especially when passing. We've had over 30 cars and it's the first one we're actually planning to keep until it dies.

Base model is a good value..costs less than the very good Tucson. Ugly? I think it has an excellent appearance. Want an suv? TUCSON base. Want the rear bed? SANTA CRUZ. Simple..these vehicles will satisfy most peoples' transportation needs. Do careful upkeep and 3K oil changes and these will likely be very durable.

Interesting to see the Buffalo area landscape. I was born on Buffalo, spent my first six years in West Seneca.

I agree with you 100% about the passenger seat not being power. I have a 2016 Fiat 500X Trekking Plus, which was there top of the line for that model and yet the passenger seat is not powered. I find that ridiculous in this day and age. I can't think of a reason why they didn't offer that. I mean, does it really add that much to the cost and/or weight? Here's to hoping the 2025 model with solve that issue. And to me, it is an issue. Thanks for posting/sharing. Cheers!

Hyundai should put the 2.5L turbo into the Tuscon, and return the 2.0L turbo into the Kona. and, Monroe County roads are far superior to Erie County. Lauren, trade those chicken wings for a garbage plate....💯🤗🤣

I had a 23 night edition Santa Cruz, got rid of it sfter 2k miles. The biggest pile of junk I ever bought. The dct transmission was garbage, and to this date the have not fixed it. Car confections you tube channel bought the new 24 sante fe and the dct broke after 30 miles, and the replacement new one lasted 3k miles, they had Hyundai buy it back. The engine would just randomly shut off, the infotainment system broke after 500 miles, the engine would take forever to get to operating temperature. And when i went to trade it in the front right wheel bearing failed.

I visually like the Santa Cruz. Its reminiscent of some of the little trucks that are available in Mexico. But, longevity, reliability, usability, are ALL suspect. Might, might, take a chance on it if the pricepoint was $10-12k less, and was NOT a four door.

You are behind the times on Hyundai reliability. They are right up there with the best of them.

@MarkM58 NONE of the current vehicles, not just Hyundai, really meets my definition of "reliable". Overpriced, visually pleasing, long-term junk, that is built to the warranty and not a mile further. Luxury marques are the worst. The new Toyotas are blowing engines. Honda has been headed downhill for decades now. Ford, GM peaked in the early 2000s. Stellantis? Total joke. Mazda was holding out, but has now decided to embrace turbos? $50k upfront for something that'll make 50-60k? No. Thanks.

@@asajayunknown6290 I guess you have a problem. LOL I typically keep my cars until the base warranty expires. By then I am bored of them and look for something new with all the new bells and whistles.

@MarkM58 Yep. I get less than zero satisfaction out of a new car. Paying for the depreciation alone perturbs me to no end and I don't need electronic gadgets everywhere. My vehicles all have well over 200k miles. One has 370k. And I live where rust isn't a big issue. So, they last "forever". Less than $100/month (ins, fluids) to keep them going, with an addl $1-2k every few years for more major repairs. Way preferable, to me, than $1000+ a month for 5-6 years

I'm curious if people have positive stories with Hyundai dealers honoring the warranty. You have Scotty's viewers claiming the dealers charge you for labor if something breaks under warranty. And of course most famously "some" dealers charging you insanely if there's a problem with a battery EV

My daughter has a 2010 Hyundai Elantra with 85K. It's 14 years old and passed on down from grandma. We had a steering wheel clicking recently and Hyundai replaced the entire steering column free of charge because we received the fix from a previous recall 8 years prior. All we do are oil changes. Haven't even needed brake work done since new. Only Replaced tires, windshield wipers and batteries since New. I challenge you to find any other manufacturer that would of fixed a 14 year old car under warranty that has long since expired. Scotty is a clown. Thinks Toyota and their 3 year warranty is the greatest cars ever made.

Any time a warranty claim is performed there should be no labor fees. If there are contact Hyundai corporate and they will get involved. If still no luck - contact your states attorney general. They work free of charge
