2024 Hyundai IONIQ 5 N First Drive | AutoDeal Walkaround

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

This is a special walkaround episode, because Caco's not just going to be walking around the car, he's going to be driving it around, in circles, again, and again. Our host finds himself in Spain, where he was given the keys to a very special car for Hyundai, the brand's first-ever performance EV, complete with engine sounds(?). The IONIQ 5 N is not your typical 600-horsepower hot hatch, mind you, but with six hundred horses, it's anything but typical. Let's get Caco's first impression of it, on this special in Spain.

Wow the rumble and pops from an EV sounds crazy. I think they hit the nail on the head with this one. Sound is important for engagement and something missing from EV’s, and this definitely sounds better than what Porsche is doing. (Never thought I’d say that)

Fantastic review, not sure if it’s worth the trip though. I’ll pass and wait for the Zeekr 001 - more power, over 700 hp, does 3.3 sec to 100; more range, over 700 km; has air suspension, take it off reading; looks far more luxurious; and in all probability, cheaper too, currently less than $50k in it’s home market. So yeah, Ioniq 5 N…ahhhh 😅

@@charlesa1234 Summary: This is a problem with US and Canadian law and a dealership problem. This differs from Hyundai headquarters' guidelines. As mentioned in the video, the dealership wears the automaker's sign, but in reality, they are a separate company from Hyundai Motors. The United States and Canada have blocked foreign manufacturers from directly operating dealerships to protect their own jobs and workers. The amount shown in the video is not the price of the parts, but the amount the dealership charged the insurance company, and they doubled the amount in the process. The reason they do this is because it leads to profits for the dealership. Because many consumers are unaware of this fact, various problems are occurring at dealerships in Germany and Japan as well, and it is easy to see that consumers hate German cars, hate Japanese cars, and are angry and say they will never buy from that manufacturer again. there is. Yes, this is a problem created by excessive laws in the US and Canada, and therefore a problem for dealerships of all manufacturers. Consumers must realize that the dealership's decision is not the opinion of Hyundai headquarters. If you receive a strange charge from the dealership, please consult with our head office and we can help you take the right action. Of course, Hyundai cannot ignore the dealership and repair it directly, but it will be able to connect you with a dealership with a good relationship, request improvements from that dealership, or purchase the vehicle and offer credit benefits. Don't trust the dealership. Their decision is not final. 1. The price shown on the bill in the video is the amount requested by the dealership from the insurance company. During this process, the bill was inflated by two times. 2. The core of the case is that there is a problem with the laws of the United States and Canada. As shown in the video, foreign manufacturers are legally prohibited from operating dealerships in the United States and Canada. The manufacturer's authority is only to select the dealership to which it will grant the license. Because they are legally separate companies, the manufacturer cannot be involved in the dealership's operations. You can only ask. This is a law created by the United States and Canada to create jobs and protect workers in their countries. Dealerships displaying the manufacturer's sign are separate sales companies, and manufacturers are prohibited from operating this business. Of course, compared to operating directly from the manufacturer, service quality cannot be unified. Manufacturers can visit dealerships, observe them, and request corrections for problems. However, it is not mandatory and the final decision rests with the dealership. In the video, if Hyundai Canada clearly interfered with their pricing policy, that means under U.S. and Canadian law, the dealership can file a lawsuit against Hyundai. In the United States and Canada, dealerships and insurance companies have a symbiotic relationship. They are individual companies that have little interest in the quality of service and reputation of the manufacturer. Once they sign a licensing contract with a good impression, the sales and service demands of the local manufacturer are automatically allocated to them, so if they are not interested in the next licensing contract or do not see other competitors, they are only interested in maximizing their own profits. . Of course, since most dealerships are evaluated from various perspectives when selecting them, most dealerships maintain good relationships and cooperate with manufacturers. However, that does not mean that it guarantees perfect management, and the manufacturer cannot directly intervene in service quality. Due to these legal problems, incidents are occurring in the United States and Canada where some dealerships of Japanese and German manufacturers are also receiving the worst evaluations. That is why customer satisfaction varies greatly from dealership to dealership. 3. The problem is that most people are unaware of this structure and therefore mistakenly believe that the dealership's opinion is the official position. If you search, you can easily find videos of many consumers expressing outrage that they will no longer purchase from Japanese and German manufacturers due to dealership issues. The reason Hyundai Canada was not clearly involved in the video is because an official response is impossible due to legal issues with the dealership. Consumers can bypass the dealership and contact Hyundai headquarters directly for consultation. Of course, even so, under the laws of the United States and Canada, the manufacturer does not have the authority to directly repair or provide estimates. However, you can improve the situation by purchasing the vehicle without losing money and providing credit benefits, or by asking the dealer to do so. 4. This is a very rare case and appears to be the first time this has occurred. The lifespan of the battery shows a performance decline of about 10% when driven for 200,000 miles. In fact, electric vehicles are more efficient because a similar decrease in fuel efficiency occurs in internal combustion engine engines and separate consumable replacement or maintenance is required. There is no need to replace the battery just because its performance has decreased by about 10%. Of course, you can ride much longer. Therefore, so far, no one has actually had the battery replaced, and it has never been damaged in this way and has never been a problem. If the battery is damaged due to an accident, it must be an accident that has already seriously damaged the vehicle, so it is covered by insurance after the vehicle is scrapped. There has never been an accident like this where the entire battery had to be replaced even though the vehicle was in good condition. Therefore, it appears that this accident actually occurred when a weak part of the floor was accidentally hit hard by something like an unusual rock. For example, it is a rare case that is similar to an accident in which an engine breaks down after falling into water in what was thought to be a thin puddle of water. Of course, it is clear that replacing the entire battery is a very difficult task from the dealership's perspective. It will take a long time and be inefficient compared to other tasks. Perhaps these steps were taken to reject the work. However, because they are overly protected by the laws of the United States and Canada, manufacturers do not have the authority to punish them. 5. Dealerships are also the biggest reason why conversion to electric vehicles is not easy. Dealerships don't like electric cars. Since electric vehicles require much less consumable replacement and component replacement than internal combustion engines, the increase in electric vehicles from a dealership's perspective means a decrease in their profitability. Dealership is an analog industry. They are beings who have an extreme aversion to online, efficiency, and robot workforce. Therefore, if a negative impression is created about electric vehicles, they benefit. There isn't much manufacturers can do about this. 6. In the United States and Canada, when this problem occurs, all the manufacturer can do is request and make suggestions to the dealer. However, when these special situations arise, it is important for consumers to know that the dealership's judgment is not the manufacturer's official opinion and to ask for help directly.

Chinese-made batteries are cheaper than Korean ones in price, but technologically they are incomparable. China's battery technology has developed around LFP, and NCM has a technology gap of more than 10 years. On the other hand, Korea has developed around NCM and is at the top of this technology. LFP has physical limitations because the energy density of the particles inevitably decreases, no matter how advanced the technology is. Therefore, all high-end electric cars, including Ferrari, contract with Korean battery companies. Porsche's entry-level model, the Macan, uses LFP, but the premium model, the Taycan GT, uses NCM Korean batteries. Tesla also uses NCM Korean batteries in high-income countries, including the North American market.
