2024 Hyundai i30 Hybrid Sedan fuel consumption test: Road trip review travel vlog | Elantra

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

This is more than just a new car review of the Hyundai i30 hybrid sedan - it's a real-world fuel use test!
And not just running around town, either. For this review I drove from Winton Raceway to Adelaide Airport -- almost 800 kilometres or 500 miles of driving!
I wanted to see how close I could get to the official fuel consumption figure for this i30 Hybrid sedan, which is 3.8 litres per 100km. If you're in North America, that means this Elantra does almost 62 miles per gallon (MPG)! Or if you're from South Korea, this Avante HEV does 26.3km per litre.
No matter which way you slice it, the hybrid i30 sedan is a very efficient thing -- watch til the end to see my results.
And while I show you a lot of Australian outback scenery in this travel vlog style road trip review of the new 2024 Hyundai i30 sedan hybrid, I'll also cover off safety, ownership, pricing, the powertrain and how it drives.
If you want a full rundown of the i30 sedan model range, including interior space and practicality, check out this detailed test of the petrol model:

    I have one of these. It's annoying that it doesn't recognise that school zones aren't 24/7. It will pick up on the speed limit sign and scream at you you're speeding when you're not. Fortunately as all cars are designed for the speedo to lie to you according to Waze it's only 2-5kph out. Not that big a deal. Especially in Sydney where you can rarely drive the sp limit anyway with all the traffic. EDIT I posted this before I got to the part where you mentioned the school zone issue.

    Heya Matt. I've been a big fan of the channel since day one, but this has been by far my favourite test. Not that I want to get an i30 Hybrid (having to shut down that useless speed sign recognition each time I started the car would drive me insane), but I love the road trip format. It was just such a chill but still informative way to test the car, with a bit of outside interest to complement it. It would be a great USP for the channel as well. Hopefully Mrs Campbell will let you out to do lots more of these. Maybe an EV across Australia. Can it really be done?

    I like the road trip format, you can get a good sense of what the car is like to live with(the safety systems crapping out randomly for instance) and the scenery is good as well, its like a travel vlog and auto vlog in one(the trust quarantine system at the border was interesting as well as that artwork in the town). @@therightcar Thanks. Hope that they are able to resolve the misaligned radar issue. Great to hear that you were achieving an excellent 3.8 L/100km in urban driving during the launch (with having a 42 litre tank, that's about a 1,100km range of city driving, whilst with your country drive of 4.5 L/100km gives it about a 933km range). The i30 sedan hybrid appears to be very effective. Also, thanks for commenting about the headlights during your night time drive, and informing us that they are effective. This is good information. The mentioning of headlights performance is not that common with car reviews in general, probably due to time constraints. It is fantastic to see a review of a sedan taken on a long trip.

    Can you turn that speed sign thing off until further notice or do you have to do it every time you start up? How buried is it in the menu system? That is, how many "clicks" or actions does it need to turn it off? One thing I liked about my daughter's old Yaris was that you could just hit a button to turn off the annoying intrusion and it would stay off.

  • @therightcar

    @therightcar

    It has to be turned off every time you restart the car, if you don’t want it in. It’s simpler in the lower grade models as you can do it through the steering wheel controls (so you can keep your hands on the wheel once you learn the sequence, it’s only a few clicks).
