    Going from a 2017 Husky 300 to a 2023 yz250fx, I’ve not ridden 4 strokes much but I’m looking to try something new for technical offroad riding/racing

    I have a 23 Yz250fx, I ride single track and technical, not many 450’s in our crowd. Depends on how and where you ride to size motor you need. I’m no beginner be any means.

    I rode many YZ's since the Bob Hannah days they are great but I really Love the Modern four stroke FX it is a very flexible motor as to where the two stroke is really On or Off ...

    I've heard that the intake is louder than the exhaust on these newer Y ZF yamahas. I am new to the pure dirt bike thing and wondering about your thoughts? It did sound pretty noisy on camera for a stock pipe.

    The intake on the newer YZ is pretty loud. Because it sits right under your face, instead of behind you like most bikes, there’s not any way around it. The benefit is that because it has the downdraft intake, it seems to build RPM’s quicker, and that can be good or bad depending on what you like. I had two YZ450’s and I loved the motor because of how fast they would rev.

    Can you go over the 6 speed trans is 1st gear low enough and 6 gear able to open up on fire roads?

  • @Rodneysnwridesandreviews

    @Rodneysnwridesandreviews

    Жыл бұрын

    1st gear is a little lower than 1st would be normally which is great for tight technical stuff, and 6th is a little higher than 5th gear would be normally on a 5-speed transmission, so it enables you to run at a higher rate of speed on the fire roads.

    @@Rodneysnwridesandreviews Like the feel of the Honda but seem to always go back to Yamaha. Like to see a side by side with them, the lack of 6 speed on the Honda would make it a handfull at slow speed and trying to gear down spend all your time shifting.

    @@mt1885 the 6 speed on YZ is closely spaced which never feels like you’re always searching for the right gear.

    Owned both the YZ450FX and now 2 YZ250FX's. For PNW woods, the YZ250FX hands down is a better bike. Amazing at 3 Trails, TSF, Hood River, etc. The only place the YZ450FX is better is China Hat.

    @@Rodneysnwridesandreviews Definitely! Love 3 trails and the YZ250FX feels ideal for it. My YZ450FX was really great in the open fast stuff, but would just wear you down trying to push the pace in the tight trails.
