You did really well. I'm still stunned by Robbie's snub. When Ferrera's name was announced, I thought Barbie was headed for a large haul (including Gerwig). I wish Dominic Sessa had been a surprise nominee.

There were no major upsets this year...which was disappointing. Per usual there were many snubs because the competition was unreal this time around.

Back in the day, I use do SO WELL. But everyone has gotten so good at this. The competition is insane these days. I always do better on noms over wins. I'm sure you'll kill me on Oscar day picking winners. Cheers! 👍

@@RyanCasselman I am typically better at wins than nominations, but I don't think I've ever been in the top 1% on GoldDerby unless there just aren't a lot of people predicting something. Went 22/23 two years ago but many people did that.

Ryan, what order do you write your guesses in? They don’t seem to be in order of likelihood since you listed Bradley above Cillian, but they are obviously not alphabetical either (which would make reactions easier in the moment).

I predicted Io Capitano lol - they love European films about refugees. But I predicted Fallen Leaves instead of Perfect Days. They usually don't go for Asian films but Wim Wenders is German and has been nominated a bunch of times already, so I should've known. I also got Mission Impossible in sound. Those were my two 100/1 predictions.

Well done! The number one thing I am most kicking myself over is not going for Mission Impossible in sound. As soon as they read it, it made perfect sense. Also, I took Perfect Days out despite it being one of my favs of the year. 😣 Super stoked it got the nom though! 😊

@@RyanCasselman Perfect Days, The Zone of Interest, and All of Us Strangers are all movies that I've been waiting for a wider release to see for forever. I'm glad it got in over Fallen Leaves since I was mixed on that movie.

Io Capitano received good reviews and got both GG and EFA. I don't know why everyone (including The Oscar Expert) massively underestimated its potential.

This is the decade of Academy not liking Wes Anderson 2 of his movies didn't got anythign French Dispatch 2022 and now Asteroid City. Surprised about Best Score not Spider Verse come on

Not a great year for movies. Great video though! Hoping for a Poor Things/Holdovers upset. The movies need to be better IMO.

@@nikan_arami I did not connect with many of these movies. Poor Things, The Holdovers and Anatomy of a Fall were good. I did not enjoy the other 6 and have not seen The Zone of Interest.

@@samsong24 Glad you enjoyed them. One of the best in years seems like hyperbole to me. The last good year IMO was 2021 with CODA, Don't Look Up, The Power of the Dog and King Richard.

Greta Lee deserved Annette’s spot imo

15:15 Greta Lee who is as wooden as my mums furniture had absolutely no chance to get an Oscar nomination with that role, just 0 chance. It is the critic's fault, nominating her back to back during the award season and raising the hope. She missed at SAG and BAFTA ( where she was likely to get in ) and finally Oscars said "nada". Celine Song wrote airy-fairy, romantic dialogues like in-yun and dreaming a different language and did not write a properly developed female character. You cannot get an Oscar nomination with a character like Nora. not in million years. never.
