Out of all awards I want Cillian Murphy to keep winning. I’m praying he gets SAG. Paul Giamatti already has 4! And then the Oscar could potentially go to Cillian Murphy 🤞🤞🤞

I'm still gonna say this but people are still sleeping on American Fiction. It's screenplay is very STRONG. I didn't think it would win BAFTA but I'm happy it did!

American Fiction skyrocketing was the biggest shock. I think it wins at the Oscars, unless people are still bitter about Gerwig missing in director, so they vote for her and Baumbach's script?

The argument everyone has against The Creator about people not liking it enough to award it visual effects is the same for Napoleon. It's not like more people enjoyed that movie either when it came out😅

Yeah, I hear ya. Which is why I’m leaning Godzilla now for that very reason. I don’t think the other two will drive passion. Napoleon, despite bad reviews, I feel fits more within Academy taste over The Creator imo.

Napoleon was a curious fad for the people at GoldDerby but stats correlation works that way. I could point out that VFX category is purely technical only in theory and it's in fact often simply "best genre picture" and never in history a movie with bad or middling reviews won instead of one with good or great (like it's the case with Minus One) reviews. Only if every other nominee was also not very liked by critics (The Golden Compass, What Dreams May Come, Death Becomes Her too because Batman Returns had mixed reviews when it came out). That doesn't mean Godzilla will win for sure but I'm trying to say that people are looking for correlation where it suits them and it ends up looking like superstition ("Napoleon will win because historically movies nominated for production design that seem like the most prestigious win but only on a leap year"). The trend seems to favor Godzilla. The buzz is very positive, everybody talks about it. It wasn't nominated for a BAFTA because the movie was only released in UK quite late and not for very long. That so many "rules" are broken and CCA and BAFTA going in different directions I'm going whichever I think the wind blows.

BAFTAS can be somewhat unpredictable (Barry Keoghan winning over Key Huy Quan for example) so I love watching BAFTA reaction videos like this. But they were rather boring and predictable this year.... no big surprises really, which makes the reaction videos a bit less exciting. I hope that the Oscars are not the same way... it's a lot less exciting if you already know who's going to win everything.
