A long long time ago, I tested out a dyna wide glide. Really liked it and it fit like a glove. Never pulled the trigger but yesterday I picked up one these breakouts. Couldn’t be happier. This bike is absolutely perfect for me. I’m 6’2” and it fits me just great.

I'm really happy about standard size tank. It really returns the proportions of the Breakout back to the pre-M8 bikes. It's awesome!

I have this exact bike and absolutely Love it. I’m 5’-11” and it fits perfectly. Super comfortable even on long rides. It handles great in the back tire is no big deal if you know how to ride, it looks bad ass and it rides fantastic and it’s super fast! Stop beating up the breakout bro lol

I'm glad you included the riding video. From your description, I imagined a far worse and less comfortable riding position. I only have a 31 inch inseam at 5'10", so the drag bars and forward controls were a big concern with this bike. I get nightmares thinking about polishing all of that chrome, but I don't have much choice. Harley Davidson's are my preference, even though I don't like the styling of their new bikes. The Breakout at least looks like a Harley Davidson should look. A blacked out version with a skinnier rear tire would be the shit, in my opinion. I like classic, American, cruiser style motorcycles; and I enjoy riding them, far more than I do washing and polishing them. It's either this or the Fat Boy, for me.

I'm with you on the black preference, followed by Orange. This bike oozes quality and attitude. Good decision to bring it back. I bet they sell a bunch. Great review!

I'm not so sure. Talking with my local HD shop (a big 2-story), a lot of customers are rejecting a few bikes because of the price tag. Like the Sportster S, Nightster, and a couple of others. Yes, some are selling, but not to their expectations. That's missed sales. It will be interesting to see how this sells.

Excellent review as always man. This new Breakout looks a little shorter, am I right? They probably did it to make it turn a little quicker with that tire. Definitely a cool looking bike, especially with that chrome.

I own a 2014 breakout that I did a 120R swap on when I purchased it from the dealer. Which had the original 5 gallon tank. I'll be honest with you I took it for decently long rides and I enjoyed it. I guess it depends on the person. I also put the "chop z" real license plate bracket and light kit which gets rid of the side lights and the side plate mount. Makes for a really nice addition. I still enjoy it to this day

Congrats on 30K, Blair! Still my go to channel for all things Harley. Could you do a review and walk around of the '23 Road King Special? I feel like the bike doesn't get enough love and I'm looking at purchasing one in a few years. The current model at the time of course.

In 2020 my fitment specialist said the Breakout wouldn't have been a good bike for my long distance travels in terms of comfort and handling. They brought it back this year so I'd like to test ride the changes. Either this or the Low Rider ST. I like the looks of this over the ST; a sissy bar could be added to strap a baçkpack on for multiple day rides.

Sick man, I chose a 21 SGS in chrome engine with black mods and accessories. I refer it to the chrome engine as the NUGGET and it looks great. This breakout model ive always loved and just may have to try it. I think it will deliver the sport bike feel im looking for like the 01 duece i had prior. so fun to ride

I'm glad they came back out with the breakout in U.S. I was gonna buy one, then they disappeared. I just found out they released them again this year. I just don't care for the color options, I hope 2024 will have better, like blue. I originally had a 2002 nightrain and I loved the looks and riding position didn't bother me, what I didn't like was the skinny back tire and it really was a dog power wise. This breakout looks to be a lot better.

This bike that Harley came out with looks good all my bikes were the vivid black the 2 things that bother me are the handle bars my Street Glide had great handle bars very comfortable on long trips. The other not as bad for me are the digital read out guess I am old school like the regular gauges but looks like a nice bike like the117 cu. Engine had the 103 so this is nice

The headlight does it justice. We should all be tired of round lights by now, unless you are into classic designs. LED’s are the future. The pipes look great. Back tire a bit too big for my liking. Not a fan of the handlebars. Lots of mounting space though. I love the digital gauges. Lots of info possible. Just too small. I’m a big fan of dual gauges. Harley still needs to put more effort into knocking some of the weight off. Overall, nice bike.

So, I've owned Breakouts since 2014. My 2018 is 117 Stage 4. Too many upgrades to list. But basically the same as the 2023, including the new 5 gallon tank, cruise control, etc. I kept my Sundowner passenger pillion when I sold my 2014. That and the quick disconnect passenger backrest. When taking solo trips I strap my Harley luggage on the back facing me and I lean back on it. No more back pain! I recently put 17" apes on short black risers. The whole bike is blacked out. Anyway... just wanted to say that I have toured on Breakouts (94k miles on my 2014) and I still tour on my 2018. The new quick disconnect, locking hard bags from Harley are awesome and don't detract from the look of the Breakout. The versatility they add is worth it in my opinion. Believe me, I love the stripped down look of the Breakout. However, on a multi-state trek it sure is nice to have those bags. I can put my firearm in them and lock it up. And when I get to a motel for the night, the bags pop off in less than 10 seconds (when unlocked). Then I can ride my stripped down Breakout around town. Best of both worlds! Just sayin'.

Starts at $21k, ouch! Compared to other HD bikes at or near this price point, I'm not sold on the new Breakout. Just a niche reissue bike, maybe? 49 State compliance is a great marketing phrase. Think about what sense it makes. Customers don't go, "ohh I can't wait to get that 100% California legal mod for my Harley." Lol, 49 State legal. It's genius!

So my take-away is that the breakout is a good looking motorcycle that is painful to ride for long distances and does not corner well. You forgot to mention that the breakout doesn't have a cup holder, an important feature for those posers out there. So the target customer is some dipweed who has $30k that he doesn't know what to do with who just wants a flashy bar hopper to show off to his poser friends, right? We already know that the M8 is a poc compared to late model TCs and Evos.... pushing the displacement numbers is meaningless marketing bs. My 80 CI Evolution with stage 1,2 and 3 upgrades will blow the door off any stock M8 out there. Sadly, the 2023 Breakout is the only H-D model that even interests me but I am not paying $7k+ over MSRP for anything. I typically pay ~ $2,500 below MSRP on new Harleys I've purchased. At ~ $18k I could see having a Breakout in my garage as my 96 CI twin cam is getting a bit old although it still runs and rides great. With the MoCo going 100% electric "soon" (which means that the MoCo will be going out of business soon) the Breakout may be the last half-way decent model HD ever assembles. We shall see how they sell. So far, I have yet to see one in any McDealership so the sales numbers are likely to be really poor. If the Breakout sells poorly in 2023 it will likely be pulled from production so if you find yourself stuck with one you will have all sorts of problems finding parts for it. Well, at least you didn't promote the lie that a Harley is a "premium" motorcycle and that the McDealerships provide a "premium" customer experience... did you?

Look, Harleys are like coaches, they're beautiful and at one time in history for a long period were used as luxurious transportation, now they're museum pieces, the same with Harley, it's not meant to be ridden because nothing about it makes sense as a vehicle in 2023. For a fraction of the price you can get a Japanese bike that is super practical, super dependable, super fun to ride and super fast. Why would I overlook that for a heavy hunk of metal that's the same as riding a tractor?

I hate all of the Harley newer you know minimal minimal speedometers on the handlebars that's awful they are totally obviously you know using that for saving money across other lines I hate that. that's the worst to put those little speedometers on the handlebars that's crap anyways yeah so if you already got a bike that you like to ride long distances and you like u got a bike you like to ride fast sure. if you got enough money by this and it can be a garage Queen

I prefer the atlas grey but to be honest overall I think the styling has gone downhill in comparison to the previous model.
