BIG CUBES, SMALL CAM, HUGE TORQUE

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

The 131ci Stage 4 kit from Screamin' Eagle paired with the CR 483 from Alpha Performance Engine proved to be a very STOUT combo with the V&H Big Radius 2-2 Exhaust system.
Providing instant & broad torque across the entire RPM range where, lets face it, we spend 80% of the time (between 2000 & 4000rpm) this combo has it all.
If a set of Sharp Curve Radius or even the Radical Radius system from FREEDOM Exhausts been used the peak HP number would have jumped up into the mid 140s with the torque staying pretty much where it is now.
This bike looks absolutely brilliant in person, the video doesn't do it justice!
There is a lot going on with this bike & still more to come with lots more accessories, bling & bars!
The comp ratio of the SE 131ci Kit sits at roughly 10.7:1 which is more than enough for these 'shorter' cam applications but slightly too low for some of the bigger 500+ lift cams out there which is why almost always I up the comp ratio to 12.0:1 when guys are wanting those larger lift cams.
I recently completed a 131ci build with 12.0:1 comp pistons & a CR515 cam with FREEDOM 2-2 Sharp Curve Radius pipes that produced just over 150hp & 15-ft/lbs of torque.
I will post updates to the bike on my Instagram page (link below) I post there a little more regularly on there then here to stay up to date there too.
Leave any questions in the comments & I will get back to you as soon as possible.

    Its more than capable of keeping it tight. In my 15 years I've only ever had 1 issue with a cam bolt. It had broken but I didn't work on that bike. It came in to us with a noise on the cam chest. Not sure why it broke. I've obviously done many cam swaps on bikes I've put cams into & every time I undo the bolts they're tight.

    Question: going that deep into motor, why keep the chain drive if using an s&s crank assembly? would not think it was because of run out?

  • @MasterTechMiller

    @MasterTechMiller

    3 ай бұрын

    No benefit whatsoever from a gear driven cam set. The argument about 'tighter timing' & the rest of it is just straight up nonsense. The amount of stack up tolerances & deflection in the valve train renders that argument irrelevant. As for the fact of wearing out chain tensioner shoes, well that too is just a selling point for gear driven cams to pounce on. Regular servicing these chain driven sets last for over 100,000km. There are many different conditions that may accelerate the wearing out of parts but I can you now, after 15 years with Harley's I've only has 1 issue with a cam chain breaking & it was on a stock Twincam. Sure I've seen tensioner shoes wear out but those too where on the early Twincams with the spring loaded shoes.

    Can you explain (in small words for me please) the practical difference between the V&H Big Radius 2-2 Exhaust system and the Freedom Exhausts you mentioned that gives a boost in HP for the latter. On the outside, they look very similar: both 2 into 2, both short and that's about it.

  • @MasterTechMiller

    @MasterTechMiller

    3 ай бұрын

    The V&H Exhaust systems are 2 individual pipes. The Freedom Exhaust systems have a balance pipe between then about 3/4 of the way down. This balance gives an advantage similar to having a 2-1 system.

    It been while , i just finished 128 with my cam change from 475 S&S to a 515 CR with springs also changed my throttle body from the 55 to 6.4 and 6.2 injectors . And changed my air cleaner to the HD high flow SE , and a Khrome Works 2into one outlaw . Only got 140 torque 132 hp , i had 147 tq with 475 S&S. Not sure what is going on , the tuner he was not sure himself . It is very fast a lot better than the 475 .

    Are you QLD local ? Take your bike to him, I reckon he will get the best possible performance from it for you, or tell you what to to do. Maybe call him , Darling Downs Harley Davidson Toowoomba. He's getting alot of interstate clients from Vic, and NSW.

    How many miles will he get out of this? The piston is so short it will start to rock and use oil.

    @@MasterTechMiller I am not being a smart ass, I am simply asking how many miles would be expected? It is not like the engineers are caring about longevity they care about the #'s it produces to make the customer happy.

    @8mywal8 these pistons are manufactured by MAHLE. A leading & very reputable manufacturer. The pistons are absolutely fine & they will last in excess of 100,000km. I will convert that to American. To calculate this, we first need to know the length of a cheeseburger. Let's assume a typical cheeseburger is about 15 centimeters long (half a cheese burger) Then, we can calculate: 100,000 km = 100,000,000 meters Now, we'll convert the length of a cheeseburger to meters: 15 centimeters = 0.15 meters Now, we can find out how many cheeseburgers would cover 100,000 km: 100,000,000 meters / 0.15 meters per cheeseburger = 666,666,667 cheeseburgers So, it would take approximately 666,666,667 cheeseburgers laid end to end to cover a distance of 100,000 km.

    With the price of a new Breakouts they should come straight from the factory like that. But like most other Harleys you have to spend even more thousands them to get the best performance out of them. 🤔😏

    This review is not complete! WE THE "COMMENTERS" NEED TO RIDE IT FOR A AFTERNOON! Only then will "we" know the truth, LOL! By the way, I would buy it just for THE LOOKS AND THE WHEELS. Personally I worry about "engine OIL HEAT" on all such engines over 110C.I. I am concerned about huge air cooled engine and engine temperatures. That said PLEASE MAKE ONE OF THESE FOR ME.

    I'd love to build you a combo! The M8 engine platform has oil cooled heads as I'm sure you are aware of? The cooling is concentrated around the exhaust valves of the heads to help extract the heat as best it can. Also the oil volume of the M8 platform is much higher than the Twincam models. Approximately 4.6ltrs compared to the 3.5ltrs found in Twincam touring models. The VVT M8 platform has water cooled heads that has priority flow to the rear head. A revised & better design than the non VVT M8
