143ci Lowrider S / APE / D&D Lowcat

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

This 143ci got a slightly different combination than the last one I built.
The CR515 Cam from A.P.E proved to be a great choice that provides massive torque that is delivered smooth for street riding.
With stock valves, the HP is a respectable 156Hp which makes for plenty of fun at the twist of the throttle.
I have explained this time & time again but once more for the new viewers. I am located 2200ft above sea level & my dyno readings are therefore 6% lower than they would be at sea level. It is a known fact that you loose about 3% of power per 1000ft of elevation. Me sitting 2200ft above sea is ultimately holding my numbers back at least 6% so the numbers would be sitting around 165Hp & 183ft/lbs.
The crankshaft is an OEM one that has been trued up, plugged & welded with oversized big end bearings.
The compression ratio of this particular build is 11.7:1 (static)
Heads are Stage 2 from Alpha Performance Engines & feature stock valve sizes with hand porting & texturing. The valve springs have been replaced to accommodate the higher lift cam.

    STD:STD is Another power correction standard determined by the SAE. Power is corrected to reference conditions of 29.92 InHg (103.3 kPa) of dry air and 60 F (15.5°C). Because the reference conditions include higher pressure and cooler air than the SAE standard, these corrected power numbers will always be about 4 % higher than the SAE power numbers. Friction torque is handled in the same way as in the SAE standard. The dyno corrects for air pressure or density altitude already.

    Hello...Nice build with an interesting cam choice (CR-515); awesome numbers (173+ torque & 156+ hp) and excellent curves, specially the torque. This combo would be great on a Bagger (touring chassis) such as my Road Glide ST, which I've set up with upgraded suspension (and more) for 2-up riding along the coast here (So. Cal.) and up in the hills/mountains inland, with all the curves & twisties. Well done! My current Project: '23 Breakout, S&S 132 top end kit, Darkhorse blueprinted/upgraded bottom end, S&S 550 cam w/full S&S cam chest kit and top end kit (roller rocker arms, etc.) and reworked/upgraded Heads (oversize valves, port work, etc., etc.]. Might look into some cams from Star Racing...3/4 Race (585 lift) and full race (615 lift, power band 3000-7000 rpm). The full race might be a bit too much for a street bike, and even the 3/4 race cam (from what I hear) is definitely for above average aggressive riders.

The bike is fast and the cam works better than my 128 with the 475 with S&S , Krome Works 2 isn’t 1 . Might change to a 515 at some point on the 128

  • @MasterTechMiller

    @MasterTechMiller

    Great question. So I set all the clearances & ring end gaps during assembly. I heat cycle the engines with no load (just idle speeds & a few free revs here & there). After that it's straight to the Dyno to set the Air/Fuel Ratios ASAP to ensure no washing of the bores or and lean conditions are happening. So in, short, NO, I don't believe in running in engines.

    Crikey, that's enough torque to sheer the threads off the nuts that hold the Sydney Harbour Bridge together! Why do Australia post insist on using Honda step throughs? A centrifugal clutch and an all up shift pattern, and a bike like this would be ideal for them. Great for dairy farmers, too. Less time herding up cows and taking them to the dairy twice a day and more time to plough paddocks... if rounding the cows up on a bike like this didn't achieve both goals at the one time.

    This is a custom build. Cylinders are taken from 107 / 114 / 117 engines. The OEM liners are bored out & we have very heavy duty thick wall 4.5" liners installed. The engine cases need to be bored out to accommodate the larger cylinders. We put welded cranks in these too.

I personally ride & race & drag race on the OEM clutch with upgraded springs. Just like George Bryce from Star Racing.
