I think drs is more powerful with ground effect cars because of the loading and unloading of the cars suspension and other Adrian newey level stuff

They could take 5 seconds more and still be the fastest Motorsport around a track. What's concerning is the drivers reporting 2020 levels of dirty air and being difficult to follow when that was the main problem these regs were meant to solve.

Had the teams and drivers tried more laps on the softs instead of doing the alternative tire allocation, paired with a cooler track temperature, and they could've done 1:19.7 or so. These cars have two more years to improve (unless Toto asks for another floor edge regulation change), but I don't think they'll be able to match those 2020 monsters

2020 F1 were the last evolution before the new rules. Let's compare it within the same amount of time (ie last gen at 2 years of R&D).

there was no budget cap at the time, no way they're going to evolve so much with this stupid fucking idea of limiting evolution of F1 cars

0:40 "because the 2020 car is too fast we'll compare it corner by corner" I love it🤣🤣 The new spec cars are just and will always be so slow and shitty and yet we never got to see the full potential of the W11 since they stopped upgrading it halfway through the season

It’s actually ridiculous how much faster the merc was than anyone it was mostly down to their hybrid system and ice with them having a very powerful and reliable power plant those guys could just strap on a ton of downforce e.g Brazil 2021 Lewis was on a Monaco spec rear wing and still had more top speed then most of the field very similar to Ferrari’s illegal engine in 2019 made a lot of power so they could use a lot more downforce and not suffer from as much drag because the power unit would make up for it

Its wild that with the fastest car of all time that merc and lewis couldnt dominate like Max has done. Really shows the levels to this game
